Hmm probably not then unless he has a bit more growing in him
I dunno how tall Ginbey is now.
He was listed as 189cm in his draft year and is now officially 191cm. I think he might be taller though.
Allan is already 191cm.
I suppose Allan could grow a few more cm's.
I guess he can play at 190-195cm forwards?
I'm still holding out hope that he will be a mid.

It isnt one or the other also. The actual issue we made is delaying our picks to next year and then actually taking Baker to begin with

The way id have done this is simple

Barrass + F3rd for Pick 14 + F2nd

We dont bother with Owies cos we dont need him. We simply make Riley Garcia a impossible to refuse offer with the money we have not bothering with Liam Baker + Matt Owies. Give Doggies a crummy offer cos we can use cash on someone else like Owies as a backup anyway. Instead of Liam Baker we take Jaxon Prior as DFA. We take Jack Graham as FA.

2 x F2nds + 58 for pick 29 + Garcia

Leaves us with 3,14,29,30, 33

3 - Jagga Smith
14 - Bo Allan
29 - Jobe Shannahan
30 - Christian Moraes

And then for experienced players we take Garcia, Graham, Prior

Next year we are down to

1st + 4th + 5th only as picks.

Am happy to go in with low currency knowing we will target Chad Warner + also have Charlie Banfield as a F/S pickup beyond our 1st rounder. Split 1st if needed too

The end

Love from someone who isnt a dumbass

We can still likely get Prior now if we rate him
We can likely get one of Shanahan/Moraes now if we rate them this arvo
We wouldnt have Graham because I doubt he comes without Baker
We'd be massively overpaying Riley Garcia
We wouldnt have Hawks future 1st, 2nd and 3rd or our future 2nd or 3rds

Even assuming all this was even possible, it's not at ll the home run compared to what we have now that you think it is

Id honestly go with Prior > Baker myself when you factor in costs. The fact we havnt done it is the absurd part.
Im okay without Graham. Not the end of the world
We massivvely overpaid 2 x 27 year olds. May as well overpay someone in the right age group
The 3 picks hold very small value as alot of other teams are showing with the absurd prices they are paying to get back into this draft.

Hawks F1st is basically equivalent of a mid 30s pick this year. If we offer Richmond Hawks F1st for 28 we aint getting it. We probably wouldnt get anyone to give us a pick back in this draft for that Hawks F1st til like GWS pick 36. Once Hawks traded pick 14 the Barrass trade should have been called off IMO. That was another error of judgment

As I said, we could still get Prior for free now of we rate him. The fact he's free and doesn't seem to have clubs scrambling over themselves to sign him should tell you everything.

Baker on the other hand had us and Freo offering a pick in the teens for. They aren't comparable as players/leaders

You're talking like it's a fact that your way was much better. Firstly we don't know if it was even possible, but even if it was, it's very arguable if its even a better situation than what we are currently.

Its always a guessing game. As someone said elsewhere if pick 45 became the next big thing we are probably sitting here laughing in 4 years time

My stance is that we’re better as a club for doing what we did, however that doesn’t mean we got anywhere near maximum return on the value of Pick 3. Was there a way to get it done without handling it like this is a fair question.

Voted Jagga as he’s the pick of the lot, but the cumulative benefit of some senior bodies and good young depth will be better for us in the long term. No clean way to quantify that, so I expect on a pure measuring stats basis Jagga will ‘win’.

Deal looks considerably better today than it did a month ago.
