Thoughts on Grundy? A top 3 ruck of the past 10 years.

Not a great example to use IMO.

I'd take Grundy over Wellingham every day of the week and twice on Sundays. So would you mate.

We have been blessed with ruckman in the past.

I don't think you can criticise a trade that the end result netting the oppo club a solid ruckman.

Club already had Nicnat & Slyce. Wasn't a chance in hell we would have drafted grundy anyway.

It’s a shame he didn’t have a few more good years on the list.

Sorry for the intrusion, but it’s pretty saddening to see the reactions on here given Baker didn’t trade for himself. He simply wanted to return home to WA - it’s not his fault the Eagles cocked up the Barrass deal.

Baker is one of the cleanest players below his knees in the comp … never fumbles. He is also an outstanding mark for his size. He kicks both feet and is more courageous and desperate than 95% of your current playing list.

He’s more than just a hard trier and he’s a much better player than Liam Duggan]. In fact he’s in your best half dozen players. Easily.

The supporter base will love him if given the chance. Despite his poor speaking skills most Tiger supporters wanted him to replace Nank as captain in 2025 and remain at the club so highly was he rated.

There’s a reason every single Tiger supporter loves Bakes. He’s not a superstar but he will be the absolute LEAST of your problems when trying to climb the ladder. He won’t disappoint.

Your premiership success was built on a few superstars and role players that played there roll well. Off the top of my head Cotchin pick 2, Martin pick three, JR 11 ish, Rance 20 odd, Edwards 20 odd, Vlaustin 11, Prestia original pick 6 or so and Lynch pick 9. Then surrounded with very good role players and value for money picks.

Currently out A graders/ bonafide talent are Gov, Waterman, Allen and Reid. Prior to trade period it was Barrass as well so in reflection for baker taking pick 14 into account.

pick three down graded for 12/14 chump change especially when we need talent like Draper, Smith, FOS and Lalor ect we’ve now traded out of this top tier bracket and given the evenness of this draft picks in this years first round are especially valuable. We’ve traded out of the elite tier and given up a very valuable first rounder for baker which is incredibly over valued for an ooc player. Baker probably players 80-120 games for us pick 14 averages about that so he’s got his work cut out just to prove value based on numbers for pick 14.

The alternative was essentially what we got for barrass and I’d rather 60-80 games from an elite KPP then baker KPD are a much more structurally valuable position then HBF/HFF mid field hybrid.

You guys had baker for most the year as a 1 or 2 punch banana and he made a negligible difference to your midfield group the same as it would be for us if baker is in our top three midfielders he’s just not a difference maker.

A solid citizen B plus player isn’t worth sacrificing pick 3 or barrass for. We have really shot our selfs in the foot in this trade and it’s not going to be a good result long term. The comparison won’t be pick 14 it will be the players we gave up at 3/4/5 and or barrass performance to how this trade will be judged pick 12 really needs to be a sure fire win otherwise there will be a lot of heat on the list management
