Carlton hasn't gone to the media and announced Carlisle as a priority player.

If/when they do Carlton more likely than not will offer pick 19 - if Essendon reject the trade Carlisle will then have the option of nominating Carlton.

That will be good for us because Gresham will add to our midfield.

A very, very good question. Just "because", apparently!

Even if another club did it wouldn't necessarily matter if Jake has nominated us and isn't willing to go to that club. Just like last year when GWS apparently offered Essendon pick 4 for Ryder. If he nominates a club, as expected, it won't be an auction.

If you let someone that has trade value get OOC then you almost always get "unders". It's why it's imperative to ensure you have them all signed up before it gets to that stage.

There are a fair few similarities between them actually. Both have a lot of natural ability and some very attractive physical attributes, and as such they both have high "ceilings", but neither of them have performed consistently well throughout their careers so far (at least 6 seasons each in the system) and especially of late, and both have questionmarks on their attitude/character/mental toughness, etc, that would cause some clubs to not be interested in them.

Carlisle is a "KPP", so he has greater overall value, but as stated, Yarran is contracted, which counteracts that to a degree.
