Jason Horne-Francis is beginning to make noises internally that he wants out of North Melbourne and wishes to return to South Australia, according to Kane Cornes.

The 2021 number one draft pick has had a turbulent season at the struggling Kangaroos and has now been suspended for a fortnight by the Match Review Officer.

Cornes reports that Horne-Francis is now starting to indicate his desire to leave the club.

“The fresh information that I’ve got for you this morning is that he is making noises that he wants out,” the former Power midfielder told SEN SA Breakfast.

“That’s what I can reveal for you this morning that Jason Horne-Francis has started to, and you can see that manifesting in his on-field performance, but behind the scenes he is making noises – that was the term put to me, that he wants out of the North Melbourne Football Club.

LOL

Ehh, not reading anything into this Kornes waffle. Probably trying to manufacture a move to Alberton

Strange article from Kane.. which really shouldnt be that surprising when you come to think of it.

But you’d think Kane would be a heap more positive about this “new mail” that he has recieved regarding JHF.. An SA potential gun player already wanting out and back home to SA..

Yet Kane seems to be carrying on like, if you are one of the SA teams, would you really want him?.. claiming that getting JHF in and paying him the big dollars could cause drama within your team, and at such a high cost etc etc.. blah, blah, blah..

Normally Kane, the cocky little flog, would be all “yep, i’ve got inside mail that JHF is coming home, and he’ll surely be coming home to port not the crows and its not really gonna cost port much”

Maybe Kane’s not so confident, after what happened last year with Dawson..

Or maybe Kane’s “new mail” not only said that JHF wants out but also said the crows look the more likely suitor.. and so Kane is not telling the whole story and is already starting to put a heap of negative spin on it just incase JHF ends up at the crows..

The bloke always speaks with a forked tongue whenever anything involves the crows so its hard to tell..

Kane gets all his info from Port so always has that angle to it. Expect Port know we’re likely to get him and so trying to drive his price up. Nobody is paying him $800k a year at this point. You’d give him a 2 year deal at no more than 500k and tell him there’s a mill a year waiting at the end of it if he’s as good as the hype.

Kano was also having a crack at Karl Amon again last night. They eat their own over there.

Or that the kid has some baggage which need to be considered when recruiting him and paying him a shit load.

He has an attitude and is a bit of a prima donna.

Strangely, theres some logic to this.
I do think some of JHFs behaviour has been disappointing, and makes you wonder if he has the mental fortitude to become a champion player..

Would rather watch that query unravel at our club than anyone elses though.

Players get to choose where they go to college, and then if they don’t like the college coach they can transfer to another college of their choosing.

When they get drafted, they don’t always stay with their teams and use different language to explain their motivations. But it is a complete fiction to suggest players just stay where they go

Zion Williamson has no desire to resign with New Orleans;
Ben Simmons threw his toys out of the pram
Kyler Murray didn’t even stick with baseball despite being a top 10 pick; and is now threatening to hold out unless he gets a mega $$$ contract
Lamar Jackson doesn’t even want a contract extension and appears to angling for a manufactured free agency
Deshaun Watson walked out on a newly signed multi-million contract without even playing a game under the new contract because he didn’t like ownership
Davante Adams refused to play under the franchise tag, turned down more money, and forced a trade to go play with his buddy - because he wanted to be near family.

And last year NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers threatened to go host the TV show jeopardy because he wasn’t happy with management

Incidentally Rodgers doesn’t even live permanently in Green Bay (Milwaukee). He has a house there he lives in during the season. The rest of the time in California

These rich athletes don’t have to even live in these cities; they have enough money to split their time

I wasn't suggesting there wasn't player movement. Far from it.

Just that there are thousands of collegiate athletes who don't get paid and go to colleges across the country and never have an issue of homesickness.

Its just that homesickness never comes into it, but is widely accepted in AFL circles.

taking a contrarian view purely for the exercise, what if our offer to JHF last year was absolutely genuine and we have effectively tapped him up with a huge long term contract offer and he is desperate to get out of North to be back in SA with us. The whole attitude thing might just be part of his way to try and get out of there as soon as possible.

Just an alternative perspective

$800k? LOL

No.1 pick Jason Horne-Francis will miss a fortnight as rumours continue to swirl over his future at North Melbourne
"He's got to be careful," he told Footy Classified.

"The dilemma for him now is... other clubs believe he is making noises that he wants to go and return home to South Australia. The clubs in South Australia are thinking, 'Well, we're going to have to pay him $800,000'.

"Say Adelaide for example, they're going to have to pay him more than Rory Laird earns. So for him to walk in after acting like that, how do you go to Rory Laird and say, 'This guy is going to earn more than you'? And what does it do for the culture?

I tell you what i’d do if Rory cracked the shits over it.. and I’m certainly not suggesting he would.. but..

Id show him the countless hours of replays of Rory panic dump kicking the football to absolutely ****n no one and say “this is why this bloke is worth more than you Rory”..

And if Rory still has the shits I’d pack his bags for him and point him to the nearest exit..

Seriously.. if people are gonna call JHF a primadonna then what are they gonna call Rory if he cracks the shits over another bloke.. that clearly has far better skills, talent and x-factor than him.. getting paid more!… regardless of age.

Our midfield sucks dogs balls.. worst in the league.. its hilarious to even suggest we wouldnt pay a bit of extra coin to improve it if, in doing so, that is somehow gonna upset some of the hacks that are the exact reason our midfield is dogshit..

LOL, recon all the senior boys will be like, "I'll chip in 20k, get it done"

Lol so there’s always a port angle, yet when there’s not, they eat their own?

JHF isn't even close to worth $800K on anything he's produced at any level so far and paying him $800k his 2nd year on an AFL list is ridiculous. So far at AFL level he has hardly produced efforts worthy of his rookie salary.

I think that is exactly what has played out

Certainly dont disagree with you there..

Just that if all the smoke thats blowing around does turn into a fire then the club may have to use some of it rumoured “war chest” up to convince him to come to them over little cousin down the road..

My response to your last comment was aimed squarely at the Kane suggestion that you’d maybe baulk at taking JHF at such a high cost due to the crazy fear that it could upset the playing group..

Which would be incredibly stupid list management especially for a team with a huge lack of talent in their midfield like the crows have.. the crows need to get as much high level talent on its list that it can and as soon as possible.

And JHF is slightly unique in that he already has the hardened body of a 23 year old type due to the time he’s already spent playing against men in the SANFL and AFL since he was 15.. so its not like hes a brand new draftee in that sense. He’s a ready made “plug and play” AFL midfielder even tho he’s still very young.

A plug and play midfielder with very little outside game to speak of at this point ain't worth anything like $800K.

Indeed. This would certainly be very bad for team harmony.
Faaark me…

“Oh no, no, no… we cant improve our list by actually attracting and trading in a highly touted, potentially elite young player with a decent lump of coin… shit no, that might upset some of the players already on the list!… no thank you.”.

Jesus H christ… are some of you actually listenning to yourselves?..

Good luck hoping we’ll be contending soon if the club also has the same attitude!.

Who should we be chasing then?

Or would we be better taking our picks to the draft again?

A plug and play midfielder with very little outside game to speak of at this point ain't worth anything like $800K.
maybe not, but at this point we are playing the missing piece game and he COULD be the missing piece. If we have the cash I say spend it on the potential. It's only money. Talent is a rare and valuable commodity, Talent that wants to play for us is even rarer. Unless you have a Clayton Oliver lined up that is going to need the cash to get him across the line, take the risk.

For a start.. the 800k is grain of salt kcornes levels of believability.. however, you would expect, that to encourage the lad to pick the crows, they will need to pull out the cheque book somewhat..

Secondly.. this is a bloke who’s tires you pumped the faaark out of for nearly 18 months leading up to last years draft, telling us all how fuvkn great a midfielder he’s gonna be… and now your telling us he hasnt even got an outside game?.. and is barely worthy of a rookie salary?..
