Beams had a gambling addiction. Not seeing that with De Goey.
Beams’ issues are wider than a gambling addiction. The point being made was to draw a parallel between their career paths in the sense of “incidents”.

De Gooey baldly lied to Buckley, head coach, about his broken hand. A few wary indiscretions are normal but they are negatively impacting on the club and his potential which is relevant. Defending De Gooey stoutly is admirable in relation to this incident alone, but not in context of his career.

Yeah, idiots!!!! Don't get the story from it's source, get it from an institution that's interests lie in generating clicks to sell advertising and make money. :drunk:

It’s a pointless comparison.

What utter bullshit. What exactly needs to be defended about this “incident”?

After the St Kilda schoolgirl pics posted of Riewoldt I wouldn’t have thought he’d be making judgement calls on
De Goey allowing himself to be filmed. Those pics are never going away.

One of the more selfish leaders in the AFL. Always pushed for the highest possible contract. Never compromised to attract/retain talent.

Just thinking about all the kiddies who have been traumatised by this Insta Filth

They can no longer rely upon AFL Role Models to guide them to adulthood

Once The Socialists abolish family trusts, I don’t see any point in being a parent
I'm reading a book on Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson- he was a dick - lucky no Instagram in his day.

Except they kinda have already. He's as much of a cleanskin now as he ever was in the media.

Did Bailey Smith and the Bulldogs send a thank you to JDG yet?

No internet, no smart phones, no social media of any kind. Most of these current day AFL players have grown up with all these things as a given part of life. Imagine putting a 20yr old in the passenger seat of your car, confiscating their phone and handing them a Melways and asking them to give directions. You'd end up in Acapulco.

Or Mexicola

Now he's making statements without consulting the club first. This just gets better. It appears JDG is dumber than the people who are trying to justify what he did. This is good, by the end of the year we should be able to sign him for 550k or hope someone is stupid enough to offer him more

He's well and truly entitled to, nothing to see here. Stuff the media and the soap box aficionados who think they have the right to judge a bloke having a good time with other consenting adults on his week off.

Melways on the lap, driving at night - multi-tasking!
PS - end up in Acapulco? - if you were lucky - more likely Addis Ababa or Tajikistan.

The issue with DeGoey and the latest incident isn’t about doing anything wrong by going to Bali and partying.
Its about how he regards himself as an elite athlete.
While he deserves a week off, in the middle of the season does he really think this is the best preparation?
It just may be that it all comes easily to him and he takes that for granted. But the truly elite players of the AFL know what it takes to get to, and maintain, that level.
And partying trips to international countries don’t really factor into their preparations.

Who's to say what best preparation is for an elite athlete, let alone JDG. Best preparation for Rodman was heading to Vegas, dating Carmen Electra and joining the NWO. Different strokes for different folks.
