Releasing an exclusive to Michael Gleeson at The Age tells me its a planned release by Collingwood.

Think about it, we can't have the contract on the table for him to sign this week.

Come back in 8-10 weeks and let's have a chat about the contract then.

Smart business from us IF this is the only thing to come from the saga.

If there is anything else in way of action by the club I will be incredibly pissed off by management there, specifically the board.

Bang on

I don't think you can compare community standards & expectations from the 70s to what they are now.
Standards way different back then for sure. Blokes having cigs, drinking etc totally main stream and acceptable. Just saying, mixing Both worlds (now and back then), we’d have a bye just about every week with players under scrutiny as they are now.

Reckon half the players in the league would be in trouble if socials and phone cameras were readily available in 70s and 80s
Half ? and the rest , not just pass players , throw in pass administrators , top club hierarchy , etc, some of the stuff they got up too , makes DeGoey look like Snow White

That lovely holiday, could have cost him a lot of money.
While technically there is nothing to see, the optics of it are not good.
The end of year trip was the time to do it, not mid season

They or their friends would still need to be stupid enough to post the videos online. We have a list full of players and none except Jordy have posted anything incriminating. It's not so much the availability of technology but rather the manner in which it is used.

What's sexual harassment in one situation isn't in another.

He may have been being a disrespectful creep, or he may have just been joking around with a friend.

Context is everything and you just don't get it from that clip. But considering the girl was OK with it -he should get the benefit of the doubt.

The optics of JDG's Bali antics are undeniably bad in my opinion. The act of cunnilingus and trying to flop a girl's boob out is at best immature and boorish. Under what context could that be just games between buddies? It's not criminal but it's at least in very bad taste.

The behaviour itself would fail the pub test.

What we're debating is whether it warrants a penalty, and I'm on the side of no.

If he wants to carry on like a tool it's his choice as long as (A) the other parties consent, (B) what he is doing is legal, and (C) he is willing to accept the PR damage to his brand. He should not be hounded by the media.

I think you should check out the earlier analysis. Barely anyone else in here is any longer claiming that the arm is attached to anyone but DG. In any case, if the girl is his current partner, it seems more desirable for the arm to be his rather than that of some other unknown male.
I went back 50 pages and scrolled through 15 before my eyes boggled out of my head. Care factor did not allow me to scroll further unfortunately. As long as he plays good footy on the field and we get him for a few hundred less in negotiations im a happy supporter.

It boggles the mind... Why in the wide world of sport would you allow this to be posted on social media? Why not choose to be more circumspect?

He was drunk... letting his hair down... OK to all of that but how can he lack situational awareness that badly?

Footballers do footballer things, Shaw, Didak, Swannie. I can only imagine what Johhno and Tarrant got up to but how much of it did we see? Very little.

At the very least, JDG needs a smarter manager.

GC, there’s a lot of attention on the girl, and that makes me uncomfortable. But counter to that is the fact that she originally posted the video to an account which - according to what I’ve read on here - already had about 15k followers. She is apparently an influencer who courts attention.

But saying that, I’m not critical of the girl. I hope she’s not having regrets, or worse, and I hope she can get on with her life when this dies down.

She didn't have to put the video online. She could always have edited out the contentious breast revealing incident if she wished. If she is going to hang out with De Goey, she can't be too afraid of a bit of publicity. I doubt that she is a shrinking violet type if De Goey is her BF.
Her actions are all reasonable. She is allowed to post on her social media. Doesn't matter if she is no shrinking violet. Its about the medias responsibility. I think the way they have lifted this off her social media then pursued the story with salacious suggestions and innuendo is appalling. This is not newsworthy which is a completely different issue to her posting on her own social media

8 to 10 weeks is going to give the other two suitors time to make a huge play for him, considering now we technically don't have an offer to him on the table.

Exactly. De Goey shows bad judgement far too often in life. Posters carry on like he is the innocent victim of a savage and intrusive media, but ignore his stupidity in allowing himself to be videoed acting like a dickhead and then not preventing the video being posted online. He should not be penalised but nor should his actions be whitewashed.

In this scenario GC, the girl is incredibly naive. To post video like that of Jordan De Goey and not expect the media to pounce?

But that doesn’t mean the ‘pouncing’ is good or right, more like inevitable.

Again, I hope she is ok.

Again, we have some sh*t journalism in this country.

Do people who keep talking about the video actually know how a ”story” works on Instagram and how the HS recorded it?

I felt you pretty accurately described the optics. I’m a football fan first and foremost so my only consideration is what are the consequences of being an ugly creepy drunk who didn’t care that his actions in relation to the girl were seen by others? There are no consequences, IMO. Frowned upon yeah if you’re that way inclined (I’d find frowning on that behaviour between consenting adults prudish, but that’s just me), but that’s the limit I’m copping personally.

I think the assumption by the pitch fork brigade is that there was no prior consent and her being a consenting adult was just dumb luck on Jordy's behalf. But I don't know how they can make that assumption without knowing the context.

I think you are being a bit naïve. With De Goey's track record, had I been presented with the video as a reporter for one of these Murdoch rags, I 'd have gone with it as a viable story. There was enough in it visually to suggest there was some mileage in it prior to the girl establishing the nature of her relationship with De Goey. For something that is 'not newsworthy', it certainly got lots of media coverage, including being the headline story for commercial news outlets.
