Pretty impressive effort today by Biggy in the 20m Sprint at the Vic State Combine, quicker than all the National draftees...

20-METRE SPRINT

Bigoa Nyuon (Dandenong Stingrays): 2.855

Ryan Gardner (Northern Knights): 2.927

Lachlan Gawel (Eastern Ranges): 2.929

Sam Lowson (Coburg): 2.930

Nigel Lockyer (NT Thunder): 2.933

Kaden Schreiber (Oakleigh Chargers): 2.934

Blake Kuipers (Dandenong Stingrays): 2.939

Is there a full range of results somewhere from the state combines ?

Lack of improvement and not adding to his game is a key with Potter.

He remains a one trick pony where he'll break the lines and provides serious run. So he has something. But he's not someone who wins his own ball or has that other thing. And he's not doing that at an elevated frequency either.

My view is he is appropriate for selection late/rookie.

Unclear whether he gets picked though. A will he/won't he and will rely on a few clubs late/rookie looking for someone with his capabilities from a need perspective.

Is there a list of guys who you feel have gone up in value after the national and state combines... perhaps someone who may have dropped a bit? Did we expect Jackson to be at the top of the verticals?

Hi knightmare who would be your first pick out of Devon Robertson,Tom Green & Brodie Kemp would like you to take into account who is going to accumulate more of of the ball & tackle.
You can rate 1-2 & 3
Cheers mate

Green, Kemp, Robertson on quality.

On accumulation Green, Robertson, Kemp. Kemp I don't expect to be close as an accumulator any time soon. He could be played anywhere once healthy.

Knightmare I know you rate Gould highly, but I have read elsewhere thst his testing at the combine was pretty average (among the last few if not dead-last in vertical jump, sprint, agility yo-yo and 2km). Does this surprise you or change your opinion on your ranking?

My rating of Gould may change slightly in my October rankings which will be out possibly as soon as tomorrow on ESPN if it fits their scheduling. It won't be based on combine performances though. In going through his tape and the tape of others, with the 4-15 group difficult to separate it only takes watching the replays of a few games for views to change.

Regarding athletic testing, my interest has always been in what they do athletically on match day with what they do during testing more an explanation and some context behind what they do in game. So bad testing, and same goes with good testing doesn't influence my ratings.

I've seen Joel Wilkinson test and it was out of this world, but then watched him on match day and he can't apply it in game, then other athletes where their testing looks terrible but then you see them on the field and they play this instinctive football and display what appears like elite athletic ability.

Gould is quick in game and one of those where if you put the football in his hand, he has shown he has a burst of speed to him. And he can always drop weight. He wouldn't be the first and won't be the last.

Knightmare - know a couple of kids on Sandringham Dragons list.

Interested your thoughts at who from there may be in draft contention this year

Sandy players who will be considered:

National combine: Darcy Chirgwin, Jack Bell, Miles Bergman, Louis Butler, Ryan Byrnes, Oscar Lewis, Finn Maginness, Jack Mahony, Fischer McAsey, Hugo Ralphsmith, Josh Worrell.

State combine: Andrew Courtney, Charlie Dean, Angus Hanrahan, Kyle Yorke,

Rookie me: Jesse Castan, Harry Loughnan, Corey Watts

All are in contention with the national combine the most likely and rookie me combine the least likely.

I predict around 10 Dragons picked this year, though it's entirely possible it could be more. A very talented group.

Knightmare do you think Kemp would fit Essendon's list needs most at pick 5 (with Anderson and Green already gone)?
How proven is Kemp as a 'big-bodied' midfielder and how do you think his ACL injury will impact him? Are there any highlights around?

Some talk of picking up Flanders with 5, but my biggest worry is that he is another mid/forward below 6 feet.

Kemp could be that. Though I'd be wanting someone more immediate. With Kemp coming off a major injury and Essendon's group fairly mature I'd be wanting an Oliver/Powell-Pepper/Bonar or some other bigger mid even beyond a Kemp.

Flanders is of adequate height. He's not sub 180cm. Serong is the 178cm mid/fwd who could go early.

Flanders and Kemp are difficult to separate and have them only one position apart on my tightly contested draft board. Flanders is the more advanced as both a forward and mid. Kemp as a mid has the greater upside through there in the long run and also has KPP capabilities as someone who can play at either end well. I like them both, but for different reasons/purposes.

Don't believe there are highlights up, but full matches are available on the NABLeague Youtube. Hopefully over the coming month someone puts together a highlights package.

Thanks for the information. SPP and Bonar shouldn't cost much, particularly with Fantasia possibly facilitating a trade for SPP.

I personally believe Kemp's qualities are quite rare in AFL (KPP capabilities + ability to play as an inside mid). Long term, I think he addresses our needs more than Flanders does. We should still have pick 5 even if our side is mature, meaning we can afford to have Kemp as a long term prospect.

With Daniher going, we may be contending in 2021-2022. Next year may be a development year for us anyway, which should see Kemp return to football.

Hi Knightmare, I appreciate your expertise. In a trade radio interview today, Wells mentioned that he’s keen to package some of our picks and move up the order with the idea of targeting a specific player. Who do you think this would be?

Depends just how high.

Could be anyone. I don't have a feel yet as to what Geelong would do with a top 10 pick if they get one, and they're typically good at keeping tight lipped also. Brodie Kemp and Luke Jackson I imagine would be the club's preferences. Fischer McAsey, Dylan Stephens, Deven Robertson also make sense a few picks later also. The pick they trade for would give a good indication and help narrow that down.

With West Coast going back to pick 52, who can you see them targeting?

Would a Garcia type fall into their thinking?
