Koch wants Tredrea to join committees to "learn about the club" because he's been absent from the club for 10 years, yet he's brought other board members on the board that have only been as much as a supporter, if that.

Holly was brought in under the exception to the rule. Her exceptions were that she was very young and intelligent and good-looking, a West Coast supporter and had met the Dalai Lama.
In governance-speak the exception to the rule is called a ‘specialist’ appointment, on a three-year term subject to review. It is handed out by the chairman to fill a need at a particular time - a need no other sitting board member is qualified to take care of. Oh, yes … and there has to be a vacancy.
Holly‘s required specialism according to Koch, was that she was a ‘disruptor’. This was mid-2016.
Warren Tredrea is considered not to have any specialist qualities that the current board is in dire need of, and thus he cannot be appointed to the board, he must be elected. That he played for the Club in the AFL, and captained the Club to its sole AFL flag in 2004 - and is there asking to be appointed - are not considered special qualifications enough, even though no other sitting director or competing candidate has them.
The truth behind Koch’s lies includes:
1. Koch is scared schittless by the thought of Tredrea being on the board.
2. Tredrea has openly defied Hinkley.
3. Koch knows that by the time the next member-elected director is chosen by the miniscule number of members who bother to vote he will have been able to manipulate others into robbing votes from Tredders … as Koch did with Wanganeen in order to get Fiacchi off the board.

It’s not only that WGT was foolish enough to lose hundreds and thousand of dollars in personal salary - he struggles to work cohesively with people. This is why his employers were so willing to let him go. Great football commentator, exceptional footballer, woeful administrator and colleague. We’ve got better people for the board. I’m happy for Koch to move on but he didn’t get this one wrong, we can’t afford to have people like WGT on the board he can’t see past his own bias and he’s not objective. Would love to hear who Bucky would suggest as a good candidate.
