Ladder predictions for 2010

Way too early for this and already some pretty stupid posts on here. How many people actually believe the ladder will essentially not change from this year to next?

We are going to surprise a whole lot of people in 2010 and I'm looking forward to revisiting this thread then

hey guys im new to BF and also new to the sport.
i think in the following season the ladder will look abit like this:

1. st kilda
2. geelong
3. collingwood
4. adelaide crows
5. western bulldogs
6. brisbane lions
7. west coast eagles
8. hawthorn
9. essendon
10. carlton
11. melbourne
12. freo
13. swans
14. port adelaide
15. kangaroos
16. richmond

from my knowlegde, and from what ive been told this is legitamate, im a pom.

Does anyone know the maximum and median places a team will move up or down a ladder in any given year - obviously there are anomolys - but would any given team be expected to move 4 places up or down at a max?

Melbourne finished 16th the last 2 years. People seem to have them rocketing up the charts based on draft picks that are still in nappies...?

One thing I've noticed is it's hard to break into the top 4 and hard to break out of the bottom 4. Melbourne, Richmond and Freo in particular seem to be having some problems breaking free.

Ok it's early days....

But for what it's worth rather than pick a ladder...impossible! I'll list the possible climbers into the 8 and possible sliders from the 8.

Possible Sliders.

Carlton (not sure Fev going is good or bad yet)
Essendon (still very young esp key position)
Brisbane (A massive reshuffle of the list, I just wonder if they can settle)

Possible Climbers

Hawks (almost certain)
West Coast
Nth Melbourne
Freo

While I can't see the others moving into or out of the 8 anything is possible...look at the Hawks last year.

I don't expect Melbourne to be bottom, in fact I think they'll go pretty well, when I saw them a few times last year they played a lot better than most people thought, and let's face it they tanked, I don't think they will tank as hard this year, though they will still play the kids and play players out of position to develop, just not as often.

I think Richmond is the team with the toughest year ahead...while they rebuild.

1. Crows
2. St Kilda
3. Bulldogs
4. Collingwood
5. Geelong
6. Sydney
7. Brisbane
8. Hawthorn
9. Essendon
10. West coast
11. Carlton
12. North Melbourne
13. Melbourne
14. Richmond
15. Port Adelaide
16. Fremantle

Top 4 can go either way.
Sydney will have a massive boost, little biased.
Crows will be really really good next year.

I cant remember a ladder prediction thread where opposition fans have rated the pies so highly. Averageing abougt 4th spot i reckon on these lists. Most others have been 7-10 in last couple of years.

all turned into top 6 positions.

Here's hoping :thumbsu:

You took the words right out of my mouth. It is inevitable that you will get trolls having us for he wooden spoon and has been done so for years. Year after year we prove most posters wrong and you just sit back and laugh.

Off track a little, but I have us just missing out on the top four.

I reckon the top 7 are a lock...it's just a question of in what order.
From there is becomes harder to predict.

No way - mark my words, Geelong will slide; great side but will just lack that little bit of hunger: they've proved themselves as the real deal with another win in the big one this year; even the Roman Empire came to an end! Geelong will finish 9-11.

coming from the guy who thinks the blues will be top 4. pfft.

not biased at all!

Draft selections don't turn a team around in one year! North will improve, but will at best move three spots up the ladder; coaching appointments at North will make the biggest difference next year and longer term - Brad Scott is made of the right stuff! Ziebel and Cunnington will be great down the track - and even next year they'll make an impression as a very good combination - but come on, have some patience! Sorry, you'll miss the eight next year, but will show a lot of promise all the same and will make a run for the eight in 2011.

Saints will finally pull-off the big one next year - yes folks, SAINTS WILL FINALLY WIN THE GF IN 2010, but with an ageing list will fall down the ladder in 2011 and go into hibernation for another millenium! Blues top 4 in 2010 - LOCK IT IN MATEY!

Saints - surely their last chance in 2010!

top 4 for you in 2011 is feasible, but definately not next year.

Did you get Fevola back? Carlton wont be in the top 4 simply because there will be at least 4 teams better than Carlton in 2010. The only side in recent history to have much success with an average forward line is West Coast, and your midfield is nowhere near the class of the Eagles at it's peak.

If I'm somehow wrong, I'll change my team on Big Footy to Carlton for an entire season and admit my error in my signature.

I reckon you people that have freo in the bottom 3 or 4 must be joking.

1. Geelong
2. Adelaide
3. Collingwood
4. Western Bulldogs
5. St. Kilda
6. Hawthorn
7. Brisbane
8. West Coast
