Congratulations to Metalcrusher on winning the prestigious Leading Goalkicker award. On the back of spectacular early season form , he stormed to Fred contention . Despite a midseason slump which showed that he's a barometer of our team's success, he managed to finish the year strongly to finish third in the league for goals kicked . Offield, he has the perfect temperament of a big full forward - never afraid to fly the flag , a strong and fierce competitor , incredibly loyal and yes just a little selfish. Behind the scenes he is a big softy though. Crushy has grown into his Leadership Role this year with a "lead from the front" style, but many don't know the mountain of work and support he puts in behind the scenes. He is deservedly in strong SFA contention and as it stands, a Mateflon favourite tonight too.

A slightly bigger week in the posting stats than the week before with the Dragons providing a formidable team of posters and some quality banter, not much, but there was some there on occasions. 5 players posting over 100 Metalcrusher Muddiemoose Millky95 Western Stand Warrior and guero and it seemed a couple dropped off with only 16 players in total posting this week.

After a good win v the Hawks last week we needed to keep the wins coming and our aim this week was to beat the Dragons, with an unchanged line up. The Bears started like a house on fire, with 12 shots on goal to 2 in the 1st quarter, if not for inaccurate kicking the Bears could have sewn this one up by quarter time, as it was they went to the first break with a healthy 30pt lead. Dragons started the 2nd quarter well and started to put some pressure back on to the Bears. Dragons had the better of the 2nd quarter and got themselves back in the game, kicking 4 goals to 2 but still trailing the Bears at the long break by just 14pts, game on. The Bears were cocky and sluggish in the 3rd term, seemingly not interested in getting the qooty, as the Dragons went on a rampage, kicking 6 goals to the Bears 2, to now leading by 14pts at the last break. The Dragons continued on their merry way, taking full control of this game and running out the game with a well deserved 30pt win, a great result for AceAndy and his team, at one stage in the 1st quarter the Dragons trailed by 36pts, that's a 66pt turn around, well done Dragons.

U2tigers had a blinder with 4 goals and was on top of Strigoi all day giving her a jolly good rucking lesson. Western Stand Warrior battled hard and tough again, while Matera92 picked up his usual big numbers on the outside, skirting the packs all day like a sheepdog. hilly only stat for the day was a mark, I'm not sure what he did with the qooty after that, he obviously didn't kick it or hand-pass it, maybe he marked it right on the siren.

On a Cloudy Day ,we travelled to Abdu Prison to take on the Bombers. It was an active match thread in the leadup with friendly fire thrown by both sides with such ferocity that it belied the surprising goodwill between the sides underneath. We defied prematch expectations to match the Bombers in the first quarter and edge to a 2 point lead, but their fitness was too good after that as they took a 3 goal lead to quarter time. Unfortunately it wasn’t our day and we were no match for their polished skills and extra class as they extended their lead to 6 goals by the final change. They were able to maintain this lead by taking time off the clock and consigned us to a disappointing 41 point loss.


guero was a rare shining light for us that day with an outstanding 34 possessions and 117 DT points, and was well supported by even performances by midfield partners in crime @I Don’t Care (22 possessions, 93 DT points, 10 tackles ) , Matera92 (22 possessions, 92 DT points, 6 tackles and 2 goals) and Muddiemoose (23 possessions, 1 goal, 92 DT points) . Art Vandelay_ (73 DT points, 17 possessions, 7 marks) provided crucial accountability and even some rebound from defence in the face of overwhelming pressure.

Rubbish, absolute rubbish. We hung with them most of the day but the rats gnawed their way to an infuriating victory. Some extra gym time had them in good stead at the final siren.

Some solid efforts but the forwards bar Jezmiester40 failed to fire a shot, leaving us struggling to overtake the Ratters in the home stretch.

On a Rainy Day at our beloved Stadium In the Sky, we resumed hostilities with one of our rival teams, the Royals. The thread may not as been as hyperactive as our memorable win earlier in the year but still offered a mix of humour, banter and good old flag flying. We started slowly in the first quarter and trailed by 12 points at the first change. The second quarter was a low scoring , hard fought scrap but our defensive pressure and 1%ers made all the difference, and ultimately, we managed to peg the margin back to just 5 points at half time. The game opened up in the third quarter as we piled on 4 goals to 3 and take a slim 2 point lead into the final quarter, but unfortunately, ran out of legs and didn’t make the most of our chances as we slumped to a disappointing 9 point defeat (despite an extra scoring shot).



Talented midfielder Western Stand Warrior defied the rainy conditions as he accumulated 22 possessions, 7 marks and 81 DT points in a BOG performance. Evergreen veteran kane249 wound back the clock in a vintage display which included 19 possessions, 5 tackles and even a couple of scoring shots. Gun midfielder @I Don’t Care (67 DT points, 17 possessions, 5 marks) provided Cap with plenty of other midfield support as they both capitalised on star ruckman U2tigers ‘ dominance in the ruck (11 hitouts, 5 tackles, 61 points). Specialist interchange player Fizzler massacred his opponent Easty off limited gametime .
