AFL were so quick to this this off as a non issue as well last night and this morning. They don't care about what really happened as long as they can sweep it under the rug quick enough

If its not a concussion they dont care as they wont be liable for any $$ in the future.

Bloke could have internal bleeding/collapsed lung no head knock? all good play on.

AFL focusing on pandering to minority groups such as vegans and LGBT rather than the welfare of their players.
What's the bet this gets swept under the rug and we get a "nothing to see here" from the AFL.
The AFL pander to wherever the money is.

The LGBTQ crew not only watch footy - they play it. The AFL do not want to alienate them.

It has nothing to do with this 'woke' nonsense that the right wing religious kooks keep whining about.

He undertook a concussion test immediately after the game and passed it. They've since ruled him out of next week's game out of caution, based on the vision alone. Not sure what else they should have done other than pull him off the ground at the time, but every chance they didn't even see it or view the vision since it happened with less than 3 minutes of gametime left.

Bevo shouldn't have played it down but equally he passed a concussion test so maybe can understand why he did based on that and what Libba might have told him.

A played collapsing behind play and immediately standing back up may not necessarily be noticed by anyone on the bench.

For those who watched the game, or analyzed it. Were there any obvious head hits with Libba?

What could it have been?

  • Delayed Concussion
  • Extreme fatigue
  • Heart issue

Club doctors can never be trusted.

He got smashed in a tackle by Stringer shortly beforehand but was to hit torso and no head knock. I presume that was related, perhaps whiplash.

So the timeline Footscray are running with is as follows:
  • Libba stumbled and fell because of a sore ankle.
  • Despite an ankle being the cause of his fall he was assessed for a head injury.
  • He passed the HIA.
  • Has been placed in the concussion protocol because his ankle related fall looked bad on video.

Only footballers could conspire to come up with something so stupid. It’s Wayne Carey anti inflams in a baggie stupid.

It was either delayed concussion reaction from whiplash caused by the Stringer poleaxing.

Or a delayed liver shutdown from the Stringer poleaxing.

The Bulldogs have ruled him out next week under concussion protocols, so presumably it was the former.

Having said that, the Bulldogs' statement was weird. Pretty much said that he doesn't have concussion and doesn't ha e any symptoms - but we're not letting him play because of concussion.

Odd.

So, because the AFL addressed a homophobic slur, and maybe serves meat free pies at the MCG, they are woke?

Just letting you know, when you bring up “woke things” in public, people probably laugh at you.

I don't get the "medics tried to get out to him" narrative. Doctors are allowed to go to a player any time they think it's necessary aren,t they?

If he passed concussion test not much the dogs can do but at the same time we all know SCAT5 test aren't 100%.
To me he didn't look right.

I'm not saying it was the tackle but looking at the footage & knowing their was no other incident that could have caused it, I am thinking whiplash his neck seemed to back a lot very quickly that could cause concussion.

Looked like reflex syncope to me delayed from Stringer's tackle. Basically nerves go a bit wierd with from some sort of trigger. Not really dangerous but not something you want to be prone to as an AFL player.

Completely agree with everything written here - and good on you all for not accepting it.

Man Down situation - no immediate support, no intervention, no real assessment till after match. Serious questions and the player should have been over-ruled and dragged.

This happens in the street, you’re going through a full suite of tests at the Alfred.

He's now under concussion protocols

AFL has to fine them.

Exactly what happened to port
Nothing like the Port situation. Aliir was sent back out after being clearly knocked out in a contest.

That didn't happen with Libba, who wasnt knocked out, and the game ended before they could even realise exactly what happened and commence a HIA (which was completed post match and passed). He's in concussion protocols but is not technically required to be.

Despite the pearl clutching about this, there will be no penalty for the Dogs given they did nothing wrong. Unlike Port, who did.

I keep seeing this image on articles, clearly well after the game, but never any comment on it, why is he down on his knees? Did he collapse again after the game? What is going on here?

He has passed every concussion test he's had.

The club has put him in concussion protocols as an abundance of caution given the vision, but this isn't Lachie Jones having a migraine after a head knock and being let back on the field after half time. It's not exactly what happened to or at Port at all.
