Like it or Loathe it, Carlton will be a Powerhouse in the next 3 years

Setanta at CHB, Jamison possibly at FB (maybe swap the previous 2), Thornton as 3rd defender.

Rucks next season will most likely be Cloke, Aisake / Ackland if he somehow improves

Defense is still very shaky but the foundations are there.

Play Fisher up forward and Waite in the backlines to bolster the weak defence. Retire/trade Whitnall.

Still 2 years from doing anything of substance. Young crop of draft picks on paper look promising, but statements like will be a powerhouse are stupid.

That relies on just about every top draft pick they have, to turn out to be stars. If Gibbs + Murphy alone, forget everyone else, dont become A grade players, their midfield wont be any better than about half of the comp in 3 years time.

Im not saying that will happen, but people are getting carried away. If Judd wouldnt have gone to Carlton, people would be more level-headed, and suddenly all these potentially good players, suddenly are garenteed superstars.

For goodness sakes!
Carlton have not won more than 4 games in a year (excluding 2004) since 2001!
How the hell can anyone seriously say they are a team of stars????
Are they all deluded?
Sure, they have more No. 1 draft picks in their side than most teams, but they have to learn to play as a team. They are a long way off that at the moment.
I don't understand where they get the evidence to tell guys like Judd that they are up and coming. There just isn't any real hard evidence to show this. All they are is a team of potential and until the runs are on the board, that's all they will be!

Look THS, you keep deflecting, this is not about any other club, it's about your dishonest one.

PS I find it incredible you haven't read about Westaways new policies and direction for the Saints in just about every newspaper.
Actually, no I don't.

But how will Westaway actually bring you into the 20th century.
Yourethe smallest turnover of any club and youre having your best period ever.. remember the 10 wins in the row???(How would you ever forget that eh?)

His policy might be to spend more money on football dept... but how will get more money coming in.. remember... you wont be playing finals footy.. youre not going to be a glamour club.. you have no facilities.. you have no sponsors... less free to air tv... less attention... you play a devatastatingly BORING style of footy....and Westaway is going to find more money???

He cant....!!!.. youre going backwards on and off the field.. youve had your glory days already!!!! (10 straight wins you have the video.... go wear it out...!!.. there is nothing more!!!.. that was it)

All you have to look forward to now is... Robert Harveys last game.. (I really think next year will be it.. considering he will finally get it through his head there is no premiership for him.... next year will knock it home for him)

So from now on youre ging to be worse and worse... and playing a more and more dour style of footy...

Who the hell will want a piece of you???..certainly not the sponsors... not the TV stations.. and if you were only average in membership during your gory days (10 straight wins) how the hell will you build upon that when youre going backwards???

Youve even lost your spirtual leader...

(Riewoldt is doing a Lloydy and pretendng to be a leader as he throws down the challenge to his teamaates..

Now ony if you can get those Clarke brothers to not be soft.
Kosi to string together a few games in a row..
Baker from not getting suspended again (3 year contract?) lol... he cant even breathe on an opposing player or he gets the electric chair...
Ball... needs stem cell stuff going on to his body.... its shot...
Watts to be the G train...
Brookes to impersonate a rickman... (being the tallest ump of shit in the AFL isnt going to do it for him.. or you.

And Gardiner gets another year contract.. considering he was given a yearalready... didnt play a single game and is rearded for that feat with another year contract.

Ross Lyon needs some uppers...
Thommo and Burkey the brains of the whole operation....

MAte it looks swell out StKilda way.....

Jump on board for the ride of your life...... now get off.. youve had it!!!:thumbsu::)

Judd
Stevens
Murphy
Gibbs
Simpson
Scotland
Kruezer

Fevola, Waite.

The rest doesnt matter, that midfield with those two targets will ensure big scores are posted every week.

I cant see too many sides matching that midfield might.

Dick Pratt could be the weak link as much as Carlton fans laud him as the saviour, there is a shady side to the man which will be scrutinised more so now he is the President of an AFL side.
HAHA!

school term 4 begins today yeah??

Its pretty simple - forget that we are Carlton for a second: You put all that talent in any team and of course they will be a powerhouse. Stkilda did it and should have won a flag but injuries killed them.

Collingwood will not be a top 6 team next year and I even have my doubts about top 8.

Carlton have more to look forward to than any other team over the next 5 years.

To be honest, your youngsters aren't that great. Collingwood, Hawthorn, Port, Brisbane and a few others all have much better youngsters. :thumbsu:

Collingwood have also half a ist over 30.. to be honest... so their kids arent as exposed... to be honest...:)

Who? Wakelin? Burns? Rocca? Wow, half a list.

Look at our players under 23:
Clarke, Pendlebury, Thomas, Goldsack, Shaw, Obrien, Rusling, Swan, Cox, Dick, Reid, Brown, Dawes.

Guys like Didak and Maxwell who are 24, as well as Johnson, R.Shaw, Davis, Medhurst, Fraser, Lockyer who are all 25-27. Hell, that's nearly a starting 22 as it is. No including depth players and other young kids coming through.

Nice try. :thumbsu:

Eventually, by weight of priority picks alone they will become at least competitive and with Judd there they may push for a flag IF they do everything right. Their defence needs an overhaul, it is shocking. Midfield and forwardline has promise. Unfortunately for Carlton they have become so obsessve with having a young list they have no real balance. All premiership teams have a mix of older, younger and mid-twenties players. Carlton have to rely on their entire batch of younger players maturing at once.

P.S. We have 3 more players 21 and under. Your players under 21 have played less than one more game that ours on average.

Im not asking you aout bananas.. im asing about players.

Presti? O'Bree? Fraser has to be over 30...... ??? his head and his body tell us he is..

Now you have Guy Richards and Bryan ...theyre not footballers... so theyre not counted...

Remember without Presti Clement and Wakelin ... your average kids have to lay as frontliners in defence and they will be exposed.

Without Rocca... even though is he a potato.. he still takes the best defender leaving the second and thrird best for Cloke (BnF) and Russling..
Didak is a 2 bit crim...
Medhursts one year warranty has exired...

GONE!!!

Carlton won't get anywhere near the Grand Final in the next 5 years let alone contest one. Have some basic foundations but nothing stands out.

Too many key positions are not filled by players who have the abililty. Granted there is some talent at Carlton but I don't think they'll be a powerhouse for a little while yet.

Key areas to winning a Premiership

1. Ruck - When Kruezer gets good. Carlton will get good. Until that time...

2. Defense - What defense. Satanta will be the back up ruck. I love Thornton but he's a 2nd or 3rd defender. You're not going anywhere without a better defender. (And no, Jason Saddington is not your saviour)
Our defence has been shocking becasue our midfield has been shocking. We would probably have had the most number of opposition inside 50s, and even if games where we didnt- the opposition scored with such ease from their half back, it didnt matter anyway. Opposition players would have plenty of time to line their kick up and give our defenders no chance at all. Add to that a young and/or inexperienced backline, and we were always going to struggle majorly in that area of the ground.

With Judd and Stevens in the midfield, two experienced, hard heads, those gaps should be much easier to fill, hence less pressure on our defence and lower scores kicked against us.

:)

Listen to me kid....!!!

Youre kids played around dads army .. that dads army wont be there next year.... so they will be more exposed....so lets see how they go next year without the older heads and bigger bodies next year...

If you go well.. start sprooking your Magpie rubbish.... things change very quickly........ :):thumbsu:

Hahaha. Rocca has 2-3 years left, giving us ample time to get Dawes and Reid ready. Combined with Rusling and Cloke, our forward line is fine.

Didak a 2 bit crim... right... don't see how that affects him on the field. GUN.

Our "average" kids? Presti will be around for a few more years, Wakelin for one more. Goldsack, Obrien, Heath Shaw and Maxwell are fine in defence thanks very much. Anthony and Brown will be groomed to be our next FB and CHB... shame you have none coming through in the backline ey?

Fraser is 25. The other two are duds, but your ruck division is worse, so bah! Hopefully we will get Cam Wood.

Presti is 29, and Obree is 28.

Have fun with your duds.

Dont forget the ride of your life......... or did you forget it????

Id also love to know Fireman.. when that highly ethical cub called StKilda will pay back all their creditors in full....:)

Am i alone in thinking that Carlton won't be able to keep this bunch of stars together for longer then 3 years due to salary cap issues?

Judd will demand at least 900k, Fev would be on 400k+, Stevens 300k+ etc. Give it a couple of years and the likes of Murphy, Gibbs, Waite etc. will all command 300k+ on an open market.

IMO signing Judd effectively means they will lose a couple of their young guns within 4 years, due to financial constraints.

What are everyones thoughts?

You mean like this year, when our backline was decimated, and all the kids stood up and won us games? Haha okay.

Who were our best players for the year? The kids. I'd be more worried about the team being exposed to a losing culture, than being without "dad's army". By the way, those who won't be there next year are: Buckley - who played about 5 games this year. Clement - who played a few more. Licuria - who wasn't in our best 22. Oh... funny about that. :thumbsu:

all this judd talk is really hyping up carlton too much. Sure they have a really solid midfield but matty kreuzer will not b a saviour in the 1st year, he needs time and will take a little while the same thing happened with josh fraser. remember all the hype he got. also it seems like judd seems to give carlton fans a hell of a lot of optimism before the season has started. The NAB cup must have started a lot earlier this year, the future does look bright but dont think your out of the woods yet.

Nick Stephens back in that Midfield with Judd if the deal can be done is an awesome prospect for the Blues, particually in the development side for those younger players. Coming on a tad slow atm but the abaility is there. And to be honest I like the idea of a powerfull Carlton again. I need a reason to hate them again and right now I don't.

:D

plus to say carltons losing culture is just a slump. thats crazy 3 wooden spoons! in the last 5 years! Collingwood has only won 2 wooden spoons in over 100 years of footy
