I didn't think that's what they meant. I more or less thought they'd go in with our hand it is, which is why I'm querying it, as we don't really have the premium picks to be bringing in the best talent in what is considered a weak draft where some teams may only use 3 picks.Take those comments in the context they were made - in the past two seasons combined we have drafted a total of 3 kids in the national draft, while looking to trade for elite mature talent (Saad, Cerra). This year we resolved to take a targeted and frugal approach to mature acquisition(s), and draft a few more kids. That doesn't mean the club intended to trade out a bunch of valuable commodities to load up on first rounders.
Our player development has been woeful for >20 years.... if we 'backed our development' we would be like the Titanic!I agree, as soon as we back our development we will stop looking for quick fixes. It never works, even experienced players need development in order to fulfill a team role. Acres fills a need, but we have some good players who need further development. Players include Cottrell, Mirkov, Durdin, Owies, Kemp, Carroll, etc and they reach their potential then we will be in great shape.
Which chap is this?Chap on Twitter suggesting there's a pretty big fish looking at the Blues....
And Paddy might be part of that deal.
Is this where we say "strap yourselves in folks"?Chap on Twitter suggesting there's a pretty big fish looking at the Blues....

Bont for Dow is a fair trade.Chap on Twitter suggesting there's a pretty big fish looking at the Blues....

There was some silly trade talk involving Bailey Smith going around on Twitter today. Might be the one?Chap on Twitter suggesting there's a pretty big fish looking at the Blues....

Whitfield or another GWS midfielder salary dump. Would let them keep Hopper...Chap on Twitter suggesting there's a pretty big fish looking at the Blues....

that would be a strange pickup as expect the Dogs would pay him more than we could???There was some silly trade talk involving Bailey Smith going around on Twitter today. Might be the one?
Reported that he's told Irish media he won't be coming back.Has the Bunsen back to CFC story died a natural death?
tbh I think it was just something completely made up for a laugh. Or thats what I took from it anywaythat would be a strange pickup as expect the Dogs would pay him more than we could???
Do we package Dow and setterfield to make it work?
Is he coming to us to "Win Premierships"?

In addition, at the time the decision was made, we were all flying blind about life with covid. It was a fair assumption that unvaccinated players may never have been welcomed back by the AFL, in which case how long would the club have to 'carry' a player.A number of reasons
Has been paid for this year and would command more money than players we have to cover his position and or jeopardise re-signing other players
Young has shown he can play his role and adding Durdin as a back up, essentially 2 players for the price of 1 in that position
Both Young and Durdin are younger
Music to my ears we are trying to improve our draft hand. Supports my view we need more picks in the top 40 this year to develop the list together.
I doubt we've limited our scope to simply improving our first two picks. From what I can see it seems we're looking to improve our draft hand by moving up the order, not by gaining more picks inside the top 40.
Not sure that supports your view at all.
I am no genius and can not read Austin's mind but as a moderator, could you at least pay that I was close to the markFrom what I can see it seems we're looking to improve our draft hand by moving up the order, not by gaining more picks inside the top 40.

Dow was pick 3...Bont was pick 4...logic checks out.Bont for Dow is a fair trade.
Maybe get them to throw in a 3rd rounder even.
Kruez is perfect for the role given what TDK needs do- which is to run at the ball carrier, jump, stick his arms up & mark the ball at its highest point! Is Kruezar still our ruck coach?? Perhaps TDK needs someone different, a more athletic type that can teach him what to do.. It wont happen but would be amazing to have Nic Nat come in for a year and then on as a coach to teach him how to play that role.
