Still can't get my head around people leaving Boyd out of the 22. Has all the attributes we need in a side, tough, quick, elite footskills

I think he is a lock
He may be come round one, but as of today, he is not. Saad, Docherty, Williams and Newman have runs on the board, he has to push one or more out. Granted he could play a more dedicated defensive role, but he starts behind them for now. In no way dismissing him, but he has to earn it the hard way. More power to him if he does.

Let’s not forget, there is a distinct possibility both McGovern and Marchbank command starting spots down back too, and I will not forget Kemp from the discussion. Heaps to play out.

I think he is in the 22 at the moment (7 defenders) as the likes of Doc can be used up the ground. If Gov remains a defender and Marchbank stays on the park, I believe Kemp will be developed as a 3rd tall forward

I agree, just find it hard to fit him in. This is my current back 7. It was tough leaving Marchy out, but I think he makes us taller than I'd like.

Who are you leaving out to put Boyd in?

Is this a trick question?

There's 4 spots on the bench, I think he's at least worthy of holding a bench spot for a good 12-15 games.

I think Boyd, Marchy and Newman are battling for that 7th spot.
There will be a lot of battles like that now.

I can't imagine we play all of Fisher, Motlop, Durdin and Owies for example.

O'Brien, Cottrell and Hollands will be fighting each other.

There just isn't obvious players to leave out. If we want to improve speed and kicking, then we are not fair dinkum if we don't pick Boyd though.

I would have all those 7, plus Boyd, as I believe Doc can play on the next line

Lol no kennedy in the side. You completely lost me there
He's in the mix for the final midfield spot, but if we want to be flexible about rotating midfielders forward, or getting burst effort from someone who maybe only plays 70% game time, I really like what Kemp can do more.
I think Boyd, Marchy and Newman are battling for that 7th spot.
This is exactly my thinking, and Marchbank is my preference if we want to boost our intercepting ability, maybe Boyd if we're happy he won't get rolled by the smaller types too much.
Crying out for a permanent small defender. That is Boyd. Pretty clearly best 22 for mine.
Saad and Williams can split these duties as required.

Armchair expert here, so I just have to trust our recruitment team...

I have to say I was underwhelmed from our drafting, but now they are our players - then we've certainly picked up 4 top20 rated players :p

It was obvious that Voss had a big input into the players he wanted.

Fitness and transition plays will be the next layers in our game tactic.
Injuries have further highlighted that we need run, Acres and with the first three picks we have address that.

I'm excited that we've traded for needs.
This suggest to me that we are rather happy with our list and do not see any pressing need beyond getting more run into our team.

I'm excited - bring on 2023!
