If the list managers are 100% confident that there's little difference between having 29 & 36, and another first rounder, then I'd be happy. However 29 and 36 shouldn't be enough. It needs to be a lower pick. In this scenario we also shouldn't be sending 39 their way, it'd be more like the 58 pick.

Very hesitant to go into next year without a F1. It could easily be a top 10 pick when shit hits the fan
GC want picks for next year where our future first rounder will be traded for Luko, the argy nargy will be around the steak knives where hopefully, we get a second rounder (for this) year back.

Broken down, we hand Collingwood Houston for pick 13, pick 29 and Richards. That’s up there with the crap we accepted from Freo for Carr in 2004.
We do ok from the Luko deal but it’s still a no from me. Having said that, I suspect this is what will happen.

I’d like Collingwood to do the GC deal and we say no. Carlton or Collingwood, I’d like their first selection not pick 13, they can be behind us.

Pick 13 for FP1 is a draw. So essentially you have us giving up a reigning dual AA contracted for three years without getting a single extra first rounder in return, and also going into next year without a first rounder. Wind the ****ing club up if we did anything approaching this deal.

Port: St K R3 (Pick 47)
St K: Soldo

Port: Luko & his contract
GCS: St K R3 (Pick 47) & his contract off their books

Melb: Geel R1 (Pick 17) & R2 (Pick 38)
Geel: Oliver & Melb R2 (Pick 28)

Port: Melb R1 (Pick 5) & Geel R1 (Pick 17)
Melb: Houston

Richards walks to the draft and Port pick him up with 39

Port Receive: Pick 5, 17, Luko & Richards
Port give: Pick 39, Houston & Soldo

This is my opinon and I dont think Luko is worth selling the farm for. He cant get a game under Dimma FFS. I get that he is going to be a required player if/when Marshall retires but Luko is missing piece 999.

Im probably overrating Oliver as well but Port need to get back into the draft for the time after Hinkley.

Just a reminder who we have stitched up long term. From the Contracts thread last updated 30 September 2024. So Charlie, McKenzie and McCallum were delisted and are off the list.

24 Jordon Sweet

I also can't find how long deals were done from Port's website but Footy wire has it that

Lol.

Oliver and 28 for 17 and 38? Melbourne would laugh Geelong out of the building for that offer.

As would GC to us if we offered 47 for Lukosius.

Why is it that Gold Coast are prepared to bend over for Richmond and give up 6 for Rioli but want make up for it by bending us over for Luko when the Luko contract looks like a Bowes situation all over again.

Is it because Gold Coast are full of AFL appointments from Victoria?
Bird in the hand?
One player is coming in to the Club where our's is leaving their club.

The longer the better for us with Dan's trade
If we're being serious, we let all clubs interested make their offers. We don't decide on any until the last hour of the trade. And then we pick North because they'll have the best offer and we tell Houston it's north or nothing. 4 years to go on the contract, we must stop playing nice and get the max value. It's his problem to deal with North if he doesn't want to go to a contending club. Port shouldn't be the ones taking unders from this
