It's possible but I'm not seeing it at all, Cookbook.

I personally feel they will go with Farrell.

The really bad one would be Burton walking back into the role. That would be a Hinkley classic.
I thought Burton's last few games of the year were demonstrably better than what we saw of him earlier in the year.

He also kicked a couple of crucial goals in both the Geelong and Sydney final to sort of keep us in touch

Maybe that lengthy dropping was the kick up the ass he needed.

Burton went from being able to play on Charle Cameron to being loose as a long necked goose , I don’t know if it’s a chronic injury causing him to lack intensity or he just lacks intensity .
It’s a big year for him next year , if I were him I’d be doing some specialist training to work on his weaknesses

I prefer defenders defending and I really liked the way we played after the Lions game.

I don't like too many seagulls on the backline and there was a time we had Houston, Burton and Farrell playing there. Fantastic kicks but wanting for defending. One, maybe two is enough.

I would have Farrell, Lachie Jones, Evans - I don't to call him Levans anymore and Sinn all of which are athletic and can compete one on one. They aren't as good as Houston offensively but they good enough and have room for improvement. Obviously Farrell is an awesome kick. Those four will also be good with ground ball which has been a real issue for in the past which leads to Joe the Goose goals.

Lets have at the defence after the Lions game last year, in a simple way, points against. Basically when Bergman went back and there were other movements.

Round 16 - Saints kicked 60 in a close win
Round 17 - Bulldogs kicked 54 points and we thrash them
Round 18 - Suns loss and they kick 96 points. Georgiades doesn't play in the forward line and the ball bounces back
Round 19 - Richmond kicks 75 points in a blowout win
Round 20 - Carlton kick 65 points in a close win
Round 21 - Sydney kick 36 points and we annihilate them
Round 22 - Demons kick 51 points in a narrow win
Round 23 - Adelaide kick 58 points and be beat them well
Round 24 - Fremantle kick 67 point in a win for us
QF - Geelong kick 138 points and humiliate us. I put the blame more on the coaching and midfield.
SF - Hawthorn, the offensive juggernaut of the competition, kick 72 points and we just beat them
PF - Sydney kick 95 points and slice us up with surgeon precision. Once again, I put the blame on coaching and midfield.

During that run, a good defence.
There are time during that run where opposition teams struggle to kick goals for halves of footy.

I like that Farrell, Evans, Jones and Sinn are very athletic and have a versality to be able to play on most small and medium forwards. They are also accountable defenders which is what the team really needs.

I don't really want Burton or Williams in the team and would prefer Burgoyne to go back than play them.

If Williams didn't have a contract he would have been one of the first players delisted, because as Cookbook suggested none of his other skills are good enough to compensate for his chronic lack of speed.

I suspect when he is cut at the end of the 2025 season he will finish his career in a lower Melbourne suburban comp than the VFL, or with a Victorian country team.

If you agree that he isn't good enough, what makes it unfair to point it out?

There are quite a few on our list that aren’t good enough but don’t get relentlessly obsessed over on here.

Evans and Narkle for example didn’t cop a small fraction of the shit McEntee cops. They were actually picked for the semi final and prelim final too.

I don’t think we’ve ever had a fringe player cop as much as him before, but looks like Atkins might take some heat off him next year as the new whipping boy.

I don’t get it, do other clubs have 40 plus best 23 players? Are we the only club with fringe players or players on the list that probably aren’t quite good enough?

Look at how many games those guys played for the club and how many times they were dropped.
Look at their overall output.
Look at their PBs.

McEntee is consistently behind on just about every metric, and has poorer career highs.

At least with Evans and Narkle you knew they had the ability to do something, like Evans kicking multiple goals in the Showdown.

It may have been unlikely, but possible.

McEntee has shown consistently that he has no ability to do anything of note at all. But here he is, still on the list. It's a joke.
