Im not sold on clarke the forward. I reckon he is a weak link there, but i cant see anyone on our list who would do any better except maybe if fyfe became a CHF, and even then im not sure his shoulders would handle it.

Tough call at this stage of the year to be discussing possible delistings before we've even kicked a ball in anger. Anything can happen. Walters being a classic example.
No whipping boys please, let's simply get behind what we have and encourage them to develop themselves.
Anger, hatred, vitriol to be directed at anything in blue and yellow down the road. As it should be.

IMO we don't have any whipping boys left... The last true crabs that played I bagged where Schammer and Hinkley.

By the way things going at the moment for some, Bondy in the whipping boy!

Has anybody else heard a whisper (I did get it second or third hand) that Lower will not be picked up as there are concerns about his concussions?

I hav'nt heard a whisper but the club would have to take a serious look at the risks of Lower getting concussed again, unfortunately he is to brave for his own good and goes into contested situations head first, accident waiting to happen type stuff.
Would'nt be surprized if he and Creighton were not picked up

For the combination of carry and deliver inside 50 Hll is without peer in the comp. There are better kicks in the comp, and better ball carriers; but not both at the same time. This is why they put so much effort into both tagging him and blocking his run.

Which is why I'm very happy we managed to grab Simpson, despite the fact that this scuttled our attempts to pick up a good KPF prospect in the ND this year.

If he develops as we hope then we have our second Stephen Hill for pick 17. Can't tag all of Hill, Simpson and PearceD. Suddenly Subi becomes a fortress again.

Me either. I still think Kep is the best option at CHF.

But we need to give Zac opportunities to learn the craft, and there's a big gap between WAFL and AFL level. He needs a bit of time there to see if he can do the job. It could cost us games though... and unless Zac really takes a big step forward in his forward play this year, I think Kep will get a good run as a KPF this season.

Hopefully if he is spending time in the WAFL, he'll be played as a key forward most of the time... playing ruck with a bit of time forward is going to do b*gger all for his development as a KPF.

unfortunately we will always have whipping boys. People last year were still bemoaning crowley's skill etc, I am a big advocate of Zac Dawsson, a lot on here dont like him. Tendai Mzungu is my whipping boy, if everyone was honest, we would see that everyone has a whipping boy... i had a muppet at work yesterday say to me that mcphee retiring is the single greatest thing that has happened to the dockers, because now we dont have to see him in our jumper anymore

Jayden Pitt will be a whipping boy every day of his career unless he wins a brownlow

there will always be a whipping boy, i can see duffy becoming one if he doesnt live up to our high expectations

are the people with high expectations of duffy the same ones who bagged out the club for drafting him in the first place? the kids gone from the troughs to the peaks in record time.

They are one in the same. They are hoping to be first ballot selections to the 'naa-naa-na-naa I told you so' club.

The biggest selection risk the club took in the draft was actually a couple of picks before Duffy.

Not me. But I can tell the difference between "bagging out the club for drafting" a particular player, and posters discussing drafting strategy and the developing needs of our list. Great ammunition for discussion in a public forum.

For me the debate should really be about pick 17. That is where we needed to go tall if we wanted to get a look at the best possible forward prospect. Obviously no-one knew just how many of the dominos would fall between pick 17 and 36. The club seems to have clearly had the eyes on Simpson and Duffy though. Perhaps they expected to have another couple of options at #36.

Hmmm looks like we are replacing grunt with speed.

I think Lyon backs himself to get the whole team playing with grunt, so he's just searching for class on top of that.

It's the only reason I can think of why a pure grunt player like Lower is deemed surplus to requirements.
