Who'd have thought Lachie Hunter playing or not playing would be such a cloak and dagger thing that the Dees couldn't possibly plan for?

If Bevo cuts off his ears and calls himself Chopper, Morris needs to move overseas.

He actually was - which Beveridge himself confirmed. It was always the plan for Hunter to be a medical substitute, and be the 23rd man, from the past Sunday.

JJ got injured in the warm up, so then Hunter came into the 22. Had JJ or no-one else got injured, Hunter would have effectively been omitted, because he would not have played a single minute in the game.
Well that’s not true and you know it. In a metaphorical sense, yeah maybe he’s dropped. But in a literal sense, which reporters are bound by, he’s in the squad of 23 named to play. He’s not dropped because he’s eligible to play in the game once it starts. So if Tom Morris says he’s “dropped” it means he’s certifiably not playing. Which clearly didn’t happen.

I’d say it’s the job of a journalist to get his facts right but that doesn’t seem to matter these days.
I would like people to go harder at journalists when they clearly make things up... like Sam Manure... but blasting them over correct reporting is getting your timing a little wrong!

Embarrassing for the club. So to weed out a staff leaker they plant a story about Hunter getting chopped. Journo prints story, as his boss would expect, it's a football article not a Caro tabloid piece. Bevo being a one eyed tool can't see how stupid their plan was and cuts loose at somebody just doing their job. It's like attacking a ground security guard for opening a gate. Club has to get on the front foot tomorrow morning, to drag mental health into that is pathetic.

Yep that’s the thing.

The teams aren’t even final until they run out.

Tom was all about trying to get a story out. Get an early season headline.

I’d be more interested in the previous story with Gardiner. Maybe something worse went on there?
So what?
If that's the case then someone in the Dogs media team can make a formal complaint to the AFL integrity team.

The fact Bevo is even thinking about this is batshit crazy.

If I had to guess there’s more to the story than meets the eye here.

Bevo had a similar issue with Barrett and Barrett’s behaviour going forward only justified Bevo’s anger with him.

Hunter has had a few issues the last year or so. Could be related to that.

Either way it’s a coach cracking the shits. You’d think he’d killed the bloke judging by some of the outrage.

He could've handled the situation a hell of a lot better. In saying that I don't think fans of Australian sport can deny that the majority of sports journalists in this country are absolutely an embarassment.

There’s zero accountability. Let’s be honest. They get a story wrong and nobody ever says anything.

I would have been stoked if Bevo just said he refuses to answer Morris’ questions and the reason why, and left it at that. No name calling, no bitter nonsense.

AFL might finally do something about the way he treats people during press conferences after losing his shit to that extent. Been coming for a long while.

And to have the gall to comment on mental health problems while abusing a journo like that in front of his peers and the rest of the nation... absolute ****wit.

How many minutes did Ugle-Hagan play?

The AFL is a multi billion dollar industry primarily funded by a media rights deal. Of course the media are going to comment on players, that's part and parcel of playing professional sport.
Maybe that’s true. But when a reporter reports something without fact checking, and is then found to be wrong, why shouldn’t they hear the same criticisms? Poor execution from Bevo, but it was poor form from Morris, yet again.

Two choices here

1. Bevo is have some actual issues and needs some time out

Or

2. He's trying the Putin strategy of acting crazy so nobody is quite sure whether they should fu** with you or not or what kind of crazy you might be capable of.

Not even close. Any possible trust issues between Lachie Hunter and Bevo, or Bevo and the rest of our playing group were resolved right then and there. If Tom Morris didn’t want to open himself up to be that tool for Bevo to use, he shouldn’t have reported as fact, with zero qualifications, that Lachie Hunter would not play Round 1.

I didn't hear him say mental health problems? Maybe I missed it?

See my edited response in full - it's semantics, and you know it. Either way, ranting at him for 3 minutes over literally nothing and then walking out, is the story here. Perhaps Morris' interpretation of 'dropped' is not in the 22...perhaps another's interpretation is akin to yours - it doesn't matter though. What matters, is his conduct was unbecoming, and seriously unhinged. You can crack the sh*ts, but not even letting them respond, is where you've let emotion overtake you and you've already lost the argument, IMO. He behaved like a child - regardless of who was in the right or wrong prior to the incident.
