Wow. Huge number of pathetic flogs in this thread.

Malthouse could be a bit prickly that's for sure and it's possibly the right move for Carlton but it's really sad to see so many rejoicing at a man losing his job and a club in turmoil.

Naaaaaaah. While rejoicing in others' misfortune is a campaignery thing in real life, in the pretend world of team sports following, it is perfectly fine and fun. Suck shit Carlton.

Loving Mick just going down swiniging, crafty old codger just bringing everyone down with him, its pretty funny.

Which points do you disagree with?

All of them. Who are you to say you know what reasons he took the job for? How could you possibly know different to what he and everyone else says (ie he's passionate about coaching)

Who are the key staff? The players? They by all reports adore him.

The brand has been muddied for 15 years. What worse has he done?

The reputations of Kernahan and Ratten - What? How? He had nothing to do with Ratten. Kernahan hired him FFS.

The rest is subjective crap.

Just listened to the interview.

No doubt the club have been poor but christ Mick can be a worm can't he? Why does he conduct these things through the media?

It was the same when he left Collingwood. He feels the need to paint the club in the worst possible light and himself in the best, but he does it with all these little disclaimers that he thinks somehow covers what he's doing.

Internal axes should be grinded behind closed doors. But that might not leave Mick looking the best hey.

My respect for Bucks increased during the whole Collingwood debacle - he kepts his mouth shut and looked dignified while Mick condemned himself out of his own mouth

Mate, like anyone with an opinion on this we're reading b/w the lines...

If the players adore him they've got a funny way of showing it.

read up on the role Carlton played in moving the Swans up north, and then trying to roll the club up completely in the early 90's.

**** em.

Yep

Shafted you guys, tried to take over norf, tried to have us booted from the league, and then of course the break away idea

It's one club (with norf) I'll never even piss on to bail them out of anything

Can't believe that people are feeling sorry for Malthouse. This has become a stand off he initiated since he was told that he would not be re-signed and realised he will not be there next year. He has done nothing but taken a dump on his employer for the past month or more. Now he comes out with the Eddie Betts story. In his mind he is not getting respect. In reality he is being paid $1M per year and needs to show his employer some respect and just do his job. How many people just see out their contract to the best of their ability and move on? Not Malthouse. Not the "legend". Loved how he spoke so well about the players during the SEN interview. It's all about the players. Where have we heard that before?

So we'll get rid of Malthouse and Hardwick this year.

And then next year Hinkley, Hird and Brad Scott.

Nice touch of originality in the Carlton announcement >

Mick Malthouse has been sacked as coach of the Blues "effective immediately" in what Carlton management has described as a "public misalignment with the football club".

This, plus when he was pushing for Rattens job he told everyone they were a top 4 side.

The only way I feel a little sorry for him was that he was on a hiding to nothing this year.

With only a 1 year deal all he could was try to win. He needed at least an extra year to have a proper rebuilding year without the pressure to be sacked.

But he never embraced the rebuilding rhetoric or plan.
