SEN Radio Morning Program Melb. 17.1
T. Watson was asked by G. Lyon what he thought about the recent issues concerning M.Thompson (interestingly, the first time I have heard them discussing this sensational "red hot" issue).

Watson, whom I believe is held in high repute in the media (excluding his difficult position re his son Jobe & circumspect 2012-2016 comments on the EFC supplements scandal), replied " When I heard he was living with bikies, this was not the man I knew. I was surprised, shocked...horrified... I haven't spoken to him personally for 18 months".
Lyon then said Thompson has gone to LA to be with his son, & asked if Watson will try to contact Thompson. Watson said " I will try to contact him".

This whole conversation re Thompson lasted less than c.30 seconds; & occured immediately before 9am, when their program ended for the News. Thus, no talk back questions to them was possible. Nor have I heard other talk back questions to them on this issue -but I don't listen to their Program in its entirety.

If you're after genuine insight into anything footy related, you're not going to get it from Watson or Lyon.

TROUBLED football great Mark “Bomber” Thompson was turned away from an immigration detention centre after trying to visit an inmate involved in drugs and sex work.

The Herald Sun can reveal Thompson arrived at the Maribyrnong Immigration Detention Centre late last year, where he was recognised by staff and visitors.

The former star player and coach was seeking to visit a foreign-born criminal who was awaiting deportation after being linked to drugs and “sex work-type activities”, according to sources.

One source said Thompson was delivering a “pink case” to the inmate, but he was turned away by security guards before he could enter.
Wonder why he was turned away ,, did they find some thing in the pink case???
Interesting

Did VicPol suggest to Bomber he escape to Los Angeles before any formal charges are laid? Interesting he is there with his sone, the son that allegedly did not speak to Bomber after he took Kent Kinglsey's Mrs.....

AFL legend Mark 'Bomber' Thompson has arrived in Los Angeles, days after he was arrested as part of a drug-trafficking investigation.

The former premiership coach was filmed pulling a red suitcase through the US airport on Tuesday morning, Melbourne time, almost 24 hours after he left Australia.

The 54-year-old from Port Melbourne told reporters waiting at the airport he was "just having a break" in the US with his son.
Do you write scripts for home and away?

Interesting
That could be for a number of reasons not relating to bomber.
Appointment not made by client being visited.
Behaviour issues with client.
Staffing issues
Staff can refuse entry to anyone not agreeing to detention centre conditions. Metal detected, pat search etc.
If bomber was abusive to staff this would negate entry .
If he was suspected of carrying contraband federal police would have been involved. So unlikely.

The article gave the reason. That sort of facility is visitation by appointment only.

A pink case on its own didn’t cut it

4) they had something on him or he owed them money and they had him over barrel where they could do what ever they wanted
Given the millions he made from the development deal, I doubt he would have a debt problem... but they could well have something on him.

No way would he get in if yusuf was on duty in the guard house

At a number of Victorian prisons they have scans (like metal detectors) that detect drug residue, similar to airports.

You will remember a few years ago Wayne Carey visited Barwon Prison to give a talk, but he was refused entry when a drug, i believe cocaine residue, was detected when he moved through the scan.

It is possible to have contacted such residue accidentally, but prisons don't take the risk.

This is what i thought of when i heard about the immigration detention center, but who knows.

When i was working at the Maribyrnong Immigration Detention Centre , i dont think they had that technology , ,, more than likely no appointment was made

I realise that was wondering if the Herald sun article actually gave the reason why he was not allowed in ( i use to work there)
