Cunningham adds speed

Biggs adds a spark

Worth a shot

You'd think though, compared to the two outs, that Lamb would also add spark. And he's played a decent amount of games already this year, would be much more prepared for finals type pressure as opposed to two blokes straight out of the NEAFL..

It is probably worth a shot though. Will be an interesting selection dilemma next week if we beat the blues this week and Biggs and Cunners both play blinders.

Depends on the structure and who the sub is

I think lamb would play if bolton were out, but i think cunningham adds zip and more as a sub and biggs might be going back to free up mcveigh

Just guessing

Lamb impresses me and i felt he showed enough this year, but its not like we have left out a superstar. Biggs showed quite a bit, cunningham is yet to impress me, but he seems to have credits in the bank.

I actually would of gone morton myselg

Not too thrilled with the ins. But surprised they have pulled goodes for the year. If he hasn't re injured his knee, why give up hope if we can still make gf. I would have brought lamb in over biggs

Don't mind the changes, Biggs is obviously being brought in as a defender. Hopefully this allows McVeigh to move back into the midfield/half forward area to add potency in terms of outside run and good kicking skills. Or more likely Everitt may move to half-forward, which could be interesting to see how he goes. His problem when he played there in the past was he never found much ball, now that he finds a bit more of it, maybe he could go well back there.

Cunningham obviously replaces Rohan's speed, and tbh if he only gets 4 touches we haven't really lost anything as that's all Gary really offers at this stage of his return. He'll probably start sub anyway.

Finding it hard to get excited about this game.

Seems to be the universal feeling about week 2 of the finals every year, unless some awesome match up eventuates by chance. The top 4 teams who lost are feeling down because they blew a chance to have a home PF and while the other 2 sides are feeling good, the rest of the comp isn't excited.

Almost like everyone is just waiting for PF weekend, possibly the best weekend of the year - although I think week 1 of the finals is the best actually.

Funny, I'm bloody excited about this game!! It's the one I've been waiting for all week/month to restore some faith ... it's gonna happen and all the doubters can bugger off! Go barrack for a team like Tigers or something so your fears can come true.
Why we will win:
1) For Malce's 150th
2) For Hanner's 100th
3) To make a statement to the majority (Vic) AFL media once again as per every time they mostly right us off.
4) It's Carlton! I repeat, Carlton!
5) We are the Bloods. This hasn't changed.

You forgot the main reason

We are a better side

I think we'll get over them. I like the ins, will be nice to have fit players.

Bit of a lose-lose game in some ways though - win, and we beat the 9th team and won't get rated at all against freo. Lose and we'll be the laughing stock of the comp (still better than Hawks 09, at least we made the finals!)

The only option is to win big. Absolute dominate Carlton and show them up to be finals pretenders. Make the rest of the comp sit up and take notice again

Let's do it boys!!!

Kinda with MalceskiFan re: Jed Lamb. He looks like he'll be a good player but I'm a little sick of reading Swans fans frothing so incessantly at the mouth about him. Like he's Paul Seedsman or something.

Happy with the more versatile and tackle hungry Harry Cunningham in this week. Not putting Jed down with that comment (though it looks like I am) but in a final I'm very happy for the more physical youngster (who is also pretty skillful and quicker it must be said) to get the gig.

Be positive.

Should we win, it will stick it to the Blues supporters & the post season depression will kick in.

Should we lose, well we just have no soldiers left & would have struggled against Freo the following week.

I suggest we just sit back in admiration of our team because they just may pull this off against the odds. We are wounded but still dangerous though not at our best.
Go Bloods!

Agreed, I can't understand why he hasn't been picked . Would choose him over Biggs every day of the week

Biggs and Lamb are very different players, it's of little use trying to compare the two and working out who is the better player. Obviously Biggs is being brought in to play as a defender, a role which Lamb cannot perform.

I would have played Cunningham in a defensive role, and lamb could play the small forward role that we have been lacking

I don't think we can have Lamb joining Mitchell and Bolton and maybe Parker in the forward line. It would be too slow.

I am confused and conflicted. The last time during finals that I said we had absolutely no chance of winning the premiership was 2005 after losing to Eagles in Perth. I technically still owe my dad approximately $10000 on that one so I won't say it again but it looks tough.

While the ins have been forced on us by injury, they also feel at first glance like the selection committee has an eye to the future more than an eye on this year's prize. But in reality, who else can we bring in? Lamb, Armstrong, Morton maybe but where's the value in playing Armstrong or Morton? Morton might even prefer to play the reserves grand final given that he's pulled the pin on his career.

We field the best team we can and we trust them to get the job done over history's first 9th position finalist.

I still hope we win this one so we can get another final and roll the dice.

Also, I would like to see horse at the bench this week, mentoring, ahead of losing his shit in the box.
