If Steele is back to his best , we are in for a very good season.
Last season he was far from his best however if he is back to his best it is going to take the pressure off the other midfielders , knowing Crouch always racks up the numbers and the new mid they throw in there should benefit knowing the opposition clubs will be fighting to hold Steele and Crouch.
Just who is going to be the the other key mid.

The chatter around me this arvo was that no one had sighted Zac Jones anywhere.

Was there anything in the rumour that Zac had been detained by Rsea Park security for trying to impersonate Nick Hind.

I just find that incredibly hard to believe.

Not sure if Nick hind or voldemort

Look I know you are behind in SA, but not 2 hours
Don’t be so sure of that.
I’m currently in WA and the game hasn’t even been played yet 🤣🤣🤣

How are you enjoying the cool change I orchestrated for you, Diehard Dearest? 🥹
What cool change? It was 39 degrees today!!
Ok, 31 tomorrow, but in Melbourne 3 days in the 30s is considered a heat wave. 🤣
Not complaining (too much) though, had a few great swims so far.

You may be behind the time -literally, but your beaches are bloody fantastic.
Unfortunately just a few more days left but I’ll be back again early May.

Got to get home and sign up those grandbabies as little Sainters before the WCE side of the family do it. 😱

lots of expectation for Steele, sort of comes with the territory being captain I guess. We looked one dimensional with Ross in there. I can see he would help kids structure up in there, but isn’t exactly elite defensively and too stationary to work offensively. Interesting to see how the middle pans out this year

Natural for him to be behind - poor bloke needs a helping hand in life, has to be hard coming up from the backwaters of WA but he knows we're all here for him

Apart from what we already know
  • Bonner looks a good pick up but I think his downfall has been when the pressure is up . Probably why he was let go port .
  • Ross I thought looked good
  • Battle seems like he could go another level.
  • Wilson Looks set for a long career.. has some spring in his legs .
  • Hugo looks like a player Ross would love,
  • Kingy getting some easier goals other then taking a big contested mark .
  • Higgins looks much more physical harder

Not sure what we can take from the game, but it was a good workout against an average team. The new fellas looked good and Wilson seems to have read hunger in the contest. I think we look faster than least season, though the midfield still worries me- second to the ball too much and still lack class, and that was only aspect where Essendon looked better. Looking forward to the next hitout against North.

Its a concern, even after Merret went off, we struggled in the middle.
We rely on turning it over in the backline, which will suck if Hawkins and Cameron are there.

Positives:
Crouch and Dow to come in.
I'm probably saying the obvious, but Dow I hope should really help.

Wilkie Steele Sinclair Marshall are the stars

If…. NWM King Henry Owens Battle Pou Windy make the jump, I reckon it’s enough to…

Contend.

We are definitely finally stockpiling talent at the moment. Also getting a fit midfield with cover for injury would help. Steele has struggled to put together an injury free season for a few years and our fortunes used to be tied to him. Dow and Henry are super important additions.
