Re: Changes vs West Coast

Hey guys just having a quick browse through to find out some info on Newman. I've noticed all of you have named him as an out which was to be expected. I saw that he was just taking it week by week and hoping to get back for a few games. Is this still the case or is he going to be wrapped up? Cheers!

Re: Changes vs West Coast

Cotchin will and should not be played as an outside mid , Tuck was significantly more efficient off half back , Martin apparently has asked for a break some time ago .

Out : McGuanne ( been terrible decision made )
Edwards ( as above )
Martin ( spent )
Batchellor ( inj )
Newman ( inj )

In :
Post , Dea , Mac Donald, Helbig, Webberly / Nason

We need those on our list , especially those who have been there for two years or more , in 1 of two categories, keep or F.O. , by the end of this season !!

did we not just have a bye? i give up with some people on here... dead set, a bye is a break, so why would he rest this week!!!!

I don't think there's any change in the situation, pretty much week to week proposition.

Re: Changes vs West Coast

After watching Coburg's stirring win on the weekend, I'd think Webberly, Post, Nason and Brown might lay claim to a promotion.

Tuck is ahead of Jackson and Grigg - all three can't play in the same side. Grigg has not earned his spot all year and Jackson is too slow. Tuck stays. Grigg can sent to Coburg to learn about accountability and basic disposal skills. Edward's skills are deteriorating. Our backup midfielders (other than tuck) are crap. We need speed injected into the side.

Out - Newman (inj), Jackson, Edwards, Thursfield
In - Webberly, Nason, Post, Dea

Post to be told he will be playing the rest of the year in the Seniors. I'd try White in the midfield for this game and see if he is good enough.

Dea is worth a shot at this level.

Edwards, Jackson and Grigg need to run into some form at Coburg for at least 2-3 weeks before being considered.

Re: Changes vs West Coast

Out: Newman, Mcguane
In: Post, O'Rielly / Dea

Griff will probably liek the big open spaces of subi.
play dids in the midfield from start til the end of the game. rotate him martin and morton at hff.

tuck stays in. grigg can earn his way back in after a month of poor form. but i bet he'll be straight back in!

Re: Changes vs West Coast

how the hell did we smash this team last year?

Jr8 kicked 10 remember

Did you see our kicking last year?

Coburg under 8's would have been a chance

Truth be told - we have had some very poor patches in games this year where our 2010 has poked it's head out at times.

Luckily having guys like Dean Cox and Darren Glass back to career best form can help gloss over some errors.

Re: Changes vs West Coast

Am flying across the Tasman and Australia for this one. I don't know why but I think we'll be competitive. Will be sitting in the RFC block in the second level behind the goals at the City or Leederville Station end if anyone is about.

hey kiwitiger im impressed with this effort:thumbsu: its a shame would loved to have met you as we sit at the other end on the oval.

by the way i will be in your wonderful city for the world cup in sept:)

Re: Changes vs West Coast

Hey guys. Just wondering, what jumper combo do you reckon you'll be wearing? With our yellow 25th year one it'll surely make for a slight clash.

Do you reckon you'll be in black shorts?

Re: Changes vs West Coast

IN: Webberly/Dea, Contin, Post, Grigg

OUT: Newman(inj), Edwards, McGuane, White

Time to give Contin a go and turf Edwards. At least he can use the pill neatly. Jackson won't be dropped. 100th game, feature article and interview on the RFC site. Shame. Post in for McGuane or Thursfield and should stay at CHB for rest of the season. I'd prefer Thursfield over McGuane, just a calmer head with the ball and a better user. Although both are ordinary. One of Webberly or Dea for Newman. I'd go Webberly for now.

Lastly, Grigg. Out of form but played out of position (up back) which exposed his flaws and thus lost confidence. When in the first part of the year was probably top 5 in the B&F in the midfield. Poor development. In reality it's a choice between him and someone like Hislop/Nason. Give me Grigg 10/10 times.

You'll love the World Cup. It's part of the reason why I live in Auckland. Big game this Saturday night at Eden Park, but sadly I'll be on my way to watch Richmond.

While we're at it, Perth is a great town to visit and watch footy. Just a pity I'm going to get jet lagged on the way home with an 8 hour overnight flight!

Re: Changes vs West Coast

I wouldn't be surprised if N Foley misses with injury.

Out- Foley, Newman, Thurtsfield

In- Post, Grigg, Hislop/Webberly

Wouldn't be shoeless if Dea gets a gig, though it won't be on form

Re: Changes vs West Coast

Reiwoldt injured?
general feeling is that he is carrying an injury. Wouldn't be surprised if he is rested for the season pretty soon, but Ithink he willplay a few more, including Sunday.

Re: Changes vs West Coast

IN: Miller Farmer Dea Grigg Webberley

Out: Newman (inj) Batchelor (inj)

B: Luke McGuane Alex Rance Bachar Houli

HB: Matt Dea Will Thursfield Brett Deledio

C: Shane Edwards Dustin Martin Trent Cotchin

HF: Reece Conca Tyrone Vickery Daniel Jackson

F: Jake King Jack Riewoldt Robin Nahas

R: Angus Graham Shane Tuck Nathan Foley

I/C from: Matt White Mitch Morton Mitchel Farmer Ben Griffiths Shaun Grigg Jeromey Webberley Brad Miller

Re: Squad vs West Coast

Miller and no Post? He better be injured.

Dea is given a walk-up start and joins a long list of players who haven't earnt their spot.

I'm hoping the final bench is Morton, Grigg, Griffiths and maybe Webberly.

Re: Squad vs West Coast

Like others before me - No Post but room for Miller? I think Post should be getting a game ahead of at least Thursfield (remember, thats a bloke who sought a trade last year). Post needs to play the last 4-5 games to get a proper run in the side.

I think he has showns bits to show he could be a player. In a lot of ways, I see him like big Vicks - a young tall with a lot of potential and talent who just needs a breakout game to give him confidence that he can compete and be a good player at AFL level.

Good to see Dea get a go - I wonder if Dimma will chuck him on LeCras like he did with Conca.

I really hope Dea can become our lockdown small defender that we have been lacking for so long - need a player who can shut down guys like Milne, Betts and Garlett :thumbsu:

Umm what? Was Coburgs best agianst Ballarat and kept Ahemd Saad who has been arguebly the best VFL player this year very quite last week agianst the Bullants. Ontop of that its giving Matt Dea AFL games, he didnt start playing Footy untill 2009 and only played 3 games at the time we drafted him so giving him games now is extreamly important regarless if he earnt his spot or not.

Re: Squad vs West Coast

No Post but Miller and Griff get games so he is obviously not a forward or in any plans to ever be a forward. Thursfield and McGuane get a game with Batch & Newman out so Post is obviously not a backman or in any plans to ever be a backman. If Post plays VFL then he should walk into Dimmas office next week and ask to be traded.

Surely Farmer isn't Newy's replacement?

Hard to get excited about our team we take west:eek:

Re: Squad vs West Coast

West Coasts squad if anyone is interested.

In: Daniel Kerr, Mitch Brown, Chris Masten, Nic Naitanui, Bradd Dalziell, Brad Sheppard

Out: Beau Waters (elbow), Thomas Swift, Scott Lycett

FB: Shannon Hurn, Darren Glass, Will Schofield

HB: Ashley Smith, Eric Mackenzie, Scott Selwood

C: Matthew Rosa, Matthew Priddis, Andrew Embley

HF: Luke Shuey, Jack Darling, Andrew Gaff

FF: Mark Nicoski, Quinten Lynch, Mark LeCras

Followers: Dean Cox, Daniel Kerr, Adam Selwood

I/C: Mitch Brown, Chris Masten, Bradley Ebert, Nic Naitanui, Patrick McGinnity, Bradd Dalziell, Brad Sheppard

Two big ins. I think the final interchange will be NN, Masten, Ebert with McGinnity as the sub.
