Re: Squad vs West Coast

Just have to laugh. Post BOG in the VFL up back. 3-4 weeks ago Dimma says he wants to pump as many games as possible into kids like Post, etc. Apparently no room for him though with superstars like McGuane and Thursfield taking spots. Was obviously talking shit and using Wallace spin. Apparently a development year, this contradicts itself.

Same old, same old back in - Farmer, Miller. Meh. Both are terrible. When are White and Edwards going to be made accountable for poor performances? Jackson's 100th so can't get rid of him I guess. Why not give Contin a go or something? Not like our midfield could get any worse. Selection and development all year - ordinary to say the least. Add this our gameplan seems to have not improved nearly 2 years down the track. In fact, it looks like we don't even have one. Players still have no idea what they're doing.

Dimma is wearing thin on me by the week. I generally have been of the thought he needs at least 3 years to transform the list, etc but I just can't ignore some of the decisions being made this year. Needs to improve quick smart next year. We must be tanking, I don't know. West Coast are going to slaughter us anyways.

Re: Squad vs West Coast

No Post but Miller and Griff get games so he is obviously not a forward or in any plans to ever be a forward. Thursfield and McGuane get a game with Batch & Newman out so Post is obviously not a backman or in any plans to ever be a backman. If Post plays VFL then he should walk into Dimmas office next week and ask to be traded.

Surely Farmer isn't Newy's replacement?

Hard to get excited about our team we take west:eek:

some pretty stupid decisions once again at the selection table.

4 tall forwards? are we trying to strech their defence?

no post? played probably his best game for coburg last weekend, yet can get a shot in the seniors?

farmer replacing newman? really....

webberly. yea ok so we're trying to run them off thier feet yes?

if grigg plays, play him in the middle not off half back ffs!!!

just dont see any logic in how we are selecting our teams:confused:

most likely plays outside the game plan like tuck does

Re: Squad vs West Coast

West Coasts squad if anyone is interested.

In: Daniel Kerr, Mitch Brown, Chris Masten, Nic Naitanui, Bradd Dalziell, Brad Sheppard

Out: Beau Waters (elbow), Thomas Swift, Scott Lycett

FB: Shannon Hurn, Darren Glass, Will Schofield

HB: Ashley Smith, Eric Mackenzie, Scott Selwood

C: Matthew Rosa, Matthew Priddis, Andrew Embley

HF: Luke Shuey, Jack Darling, Andrew Gaff

FF: Mark Nicoski, Quinten Lynch, Mark LeCras

Followers: Dean Cox, Daniel Kerr, Adam Selwood

I/C: Mitch Brown, Chris Masten, Bradley Ebert, Nic Naitanui, Patrick McGinnity, Bradd Dalziell, Brad Sheppard

Two big ins. I think the final interchange will be NN, Masten, Ebert with McGinnity as the sub.

sheesh they drop lycett a first yr player who is their third string ruckman but better than any ruckman we have. sheesh im dirty we did not use the tambling pick last yr. so many good young players still available at that pick.

Re: Squad vs West Coast

We will get absolutely belted this week.. I will be there 'enjoying' the game amongst the Eagles members :(

just to give you some false hope, I dont hate our chances - weve actually had quite a few unexpected wins over West. The boys will be fresh off a bye which ought to ofset the travel a bit, and have a LOT of atonement to deliver. You know, or else they will.... just stay sh!t. Ah im fooling no one, were screwed. Hopeing the whole team know they have to stand up without Newy, and we see a better performance overall. Its big Gus I feel for though...Cox & Nicnat = ...challenge!

CArn Tigers!

I'm from Perth and attended all the recent wins - I can assure you we are up against a much, much better side than those we played in recent years.

I'll help you our Redwallis:thumbsu:. I'll be wearing my RFC member jacket with pride at Subi.

Re: Squad vs West Coast

Hey guys mostly DT related but like watching him too, how long is Batchelor expected to be out for? Thanks

Re: Squad vs West Coast

Like most others, I'm surprised Post can't win his spot ahead of Thursfield, McGuane and Miller (if he plays). Both Miller and Griffiths won't be in the same side, but maybe they want to stretch the Eagle's defence ?

Farmer is not up to AFL standard, White is there for his pace in the wide expanses of Subi, where he has played some good footy. I'd like to see Morton get plenty of game time. Dea and Webberly deserved their opportunity. I don't believe Grigg should be in the side if Jackson, Tuck and Edwards are starters. But I'm really pleased Tuck is in the side.

I would like to have seen Edwards or Jackson dropped. But the bench should be ;

I/C - Matt White, Mitch Morton, Ben Griffiths, and Jeromey Webberley

Re: Squad vs West Coast

Going from what I've noticed from the texts. It's always the guys named first who are selected to play, so Grigg and Dea will most likely come in. Webbs, Farmer and Miller just filling space.

Whilst very long, Subi would be one of the more narrower grounds in the comp it's a bit of a myth that it's this big open ground. And that is why rule one this weekend, kick the ball straight down the middle of the ground at all costs!!!

Dea is in and named on the HBF on afl.com.au! So on your theory and looking at afl.com.au, it would then be 'White/Morton /Farmer/Griff' as the bench.

Re: Squad vs West Coast

OK, I was certainly hoping Posty would be in, and it's surprised me that Farmer is in. I just never know where the ball is going to end up with him.

Anyway, onto Posty. I was initially really disappointed that he wasn't playing, but then I had a think about it. The kid is still learning to play CHB, and has been going quite well over the last couple of weeks. He's built up some real confidence in his ability, as was evident by the way he attacked the ball last week, and culminated in that ripper mark in the last 1/4. But. I get the feeling that playing him against the Eagles, where we are going to get beaten, might dampen that confidence and self belief a little. Of course I'm only surmising.

I think letting him have one more game against a lower club like Box Hill this weekend, will keep that confidence and belief up, and then they could bring him in against Sydney whose forward line has less potency than the Eagles. It could be the perfect game to bring him and say your only mission is the ball, no man, no opposition player, just through yourself 100% at the ball.

Then the following week against the Dees, it's a man up scenario. Possibly on Dunn.

Anyway, just a thought.

If his confidence is so fragile then perhaps he should go play vfl every week? Coming in and beating his opponent be it Lynch, Darling or whoever would do a hell of a lot more for him than against a second rate forward from Box Hill. What if he gets beaten against Box Hill?

Week after week people have been calling for Tuck to play but Hardwick obviously see's little future in Tuck, Post however has it all in front of him but can't get a game. Go figure:confused:

He's 21 and played 18 games, so maybe at this stage he is a confidence player. A lot like Fev used to be, but as I said, I'm only surmising. I guess the the risk of him getting beaten against Box Hill is less that the Eagles, so you weigh up risk v reward don't you. As I said Prowler, just a thought. I might wake up tomorrow and think differently.

Re: Squad vs West Coast

Definitely think Post is hard done by also. Just throwing another theory out there but maybe we have already decided to keep him next year and are posthoning his development until then, whilst trying to pump up the trade value of Thusrtfield and McGuane by playing them? That is the only reason that kind of makes sense to me???

Re: Squad vs West Coast

Up his currency for trade time?

Conversely to popular opinion playing ordinary players more doesn't increase their trade value. AFL clubs are not dumb (most of them) and they would've made their mind up about these sorts of players long ago. Especially Thursfield who's been in the system for years and years. Was put up last year anyways and we got no offers.
