Mathew stokes case has been stood down for lawyers to have further talks..

Court has been told the case was weak and tenuous. After stokes was interviewed police did not tell him he would be charged.

Case is continuing..

sensitive issue, but i give him the benefit of the doubt. we shouldn't be sending people to jail and ruining their leaves simply for being a bit dumb. he had a momentary brain fade. i would bet that he has matured a lot from this traumatic experience, which will hopefully tell on the footy field when he makes it back. pissweak case, cops seem to be intent on making an example of him, but have failed.

From a common sense point of view its a no brainer for an agreement to be made where Stokes pleads guilty to Possession and the Police drop the trafficking charge. In reality, the trafficking charge is weak and basically unsubstantiated.

The Police would know this - even asking for more time to go through more evidence - but they must have other motives i.e. getting him to testify against someone else. I suspect he has told them no and is planning on keeping it that way. The Police can only play chicken for so long.

i reckon Stokes was too naive by catering for his darwin mates recreational pleasures. he will learn to not be so easily led down the garden path by so called mates in the future no doubt.

lesson leant. move on.

and the cops need to move on too, instead of being driven by their own personal desires for success rates in cracking cases & putting lives behind bars; & also driven by their need for acknowledgement as good cops by their peers.

therefore, i charge the cops with personal career agenda's that do not serve the community.

thus, since the law is being manipulated by all parties, i say throw the case out.
