Is Matthew Nicks the right coach for Adelaide?

  • Firmly yes (I love what I'm seeing)

  • Leaning yes

  • Can't decide either way

  • Leaning no (but don't sack him yet)

Oh Wayne, Collingwood not a good example, equal fourth just out on percentage after starting the season in party mode….

And have as many or more injuries to their best 22 than us.

It literally is depressing with baldy in place of our side at the moment.

I can only see us winning at most 3 games for the remainder of the season. Home against Hawks and Saints. And we'll jag another one. Expecting Port to spank us in their showdown.

That's a 7 win season, equal 2nd worst in our history. Only worse one was 2020 (Nicks). Equal with 2021 (Nicks) and 2011 (Craig - sacked).

Next worst was 8 wins in 2004 (Ayres - sacked), 1999 (Blight - left) & 1996 (Shaw - sacked)

You see where I'm going with this ...

You forgot also 2022 where we only won 8 games.

So 3 of the 4 years in charge and we have achieved our worst yearly performances in the clubs history - 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Who knows where 2024 lands.

People have said that about the last 4 showdowns. Id expect that's the left field one we Jag.

Particularly if we have RT, Murray and a fit team on the deck. Wouldn't surprise me if port are battling for 8th in that game.

Exactly and the cap is a hard number, no need to have the CFO reviewing other financial departments to see if player salary can be handled. The full cap (and soft cap) should already be budgeted, so LM only needs to work to the number provided by the AFL. Making decisions on talent/value is difficult, logging and managing it on a spreadsheet is exceedingly simple.
Suspect it’s not as easy as you say. All about projects as well and probabilities for future lists . Mismanagement can see overcommitment in the medium term, limiting options . Can be a little creative on how this is managed. I don’t know but I’m pretty sure it’s more complex than we think. I’m sure other cfos are involved with the cap strategy

Graham cornes:

"Does matthew nicks really deserve to be sacked? No he doesnt."

Yes, yes he does. and that's not being irrational.

Cornes is just a club mouthpiece.

Also, his mind isn't what it used to be...

Name me a successful coach who failed to make the finals for his 1st 5 years!

You don't hear about them too often...

It’s absolutely simple, there is nothing complicated about recording and calculating available cap space. You don’t need a CFO to enter the data on the spreadsheet.

Cornsey ends his summary on the Crows tonight on C7 news with "hand on heart. Does Nicksy deserve to be sacked? I don't think so."

I think 35k will be the max we get to home games for the rest of the year excluding a showdown. I dont know why people keep turning up to see us finish 15th along with financially supporting the arrogant clowns running the joint. If supporters are happy turning up to see us lose they are easily satisfied. I'll show some interest when they get serious and clear out the incompetent clowns who have a long history of failure and only care about keeping their snout in the trough.
What happens around the Sydney & Brisbane games is shaping up to be the key (especially if we lose those, and lose badly)

GWS and St Kilda (under Lyon) are never Marquee games at the best of times - if the numbers slip towards 30K, or more alarmingly below that... that's a pattern they don't want to see. They sense it already, with Dawson this week being wheeled out to plead to supporters not to give up yet (poor bastard).

Port have to be wearing the brown shorts too at this thought. They usually count on their home Showdown being a sellout, due to good numbers of Crows supporters buying tickets. If that doesn't happen, they will get a swift kick in the balls too.

Definition of senility.

Feels like every coach interview is just a re-hash of “we’re a very good side capable of beating the best sides in the comp, we just weren’t up to our usual standard last week”

Definition of insanity
The coaching staff know no different as they have pretty much reached their potential...
