Not in the slightest bit concerned about it. McBean never struck me as being what others said he was. At his size he should be clunking marks and kicking goals, not acting like a rover to score. Might get by at VFL level but not going to cut it at senior level.

McBean's biggest problem is was playing for a team that has one of the worst structures in the competition.
We were second last for Inside 50's.
We were third last for Clearances.
We were last for tackles.
We were last for 1%'ers.

Of all our forwards, the only reason Riewoldt actually looked good was because he was involved a lot more up the ground. If a two-time Coleman winner can't perform well, how the hell is Vickery/Griffiths/McBean or anyone else we try in the position supposed to?
This 1000 times

I reckon if was draft by hawthorn he would look bigger kinda like gunstan. Maybe ww didnt feed him enough? Who was he dietition?

The Richmond (and Essendon) jumper makes players look smaller. The sash is so dominant that it 'hides' the muscularity and body development.

Not to say McBean wasn't extremely skinny for an AFL footballer.

Maybe victims of circumstance. We're supposedly getting rid of a heap of coaches, and one of the guy that needs the most development (Bean) gets the chop too. I thought a bit stiff.

For a moment forget about how bad our development has been because that is unquestionable but lets look to the future. Unfortunately we don't have an unlimited bucket of development hours that we can put into the team.

McBean has been on our list for 4 years.

So there is McBean who need development and

Rioli
CEllis
Markov
Menedue
Drummond
Short
Castagna
Chol
Soldo
Broad

plus the guys who are senior to the above, have talent but still need a lot of work put into them if you want them to take the next step (Vlas etc)

Plus the draftees from this year.

I would much rather spend time developing the above talent than spending more time on McBean.

A shame McBean never really came on with us. Not sure if he'd make it elsewhere but wish him well. Still got to live his dream of playing for the yellow and black which is pretty cool.

Marcon a bit stiff. Would have kept him on the rookie list for another year. Helps our VFL side out with a mature player at that level. Was arguably unlucky to be dropped from the seniors too as he had played decently up to that point IMO.
