So we lose pick one for a guy with one knee who we could get for free this year and a guy we could get for free next year.
What a bargain!

Not to mention that Georgiades doesn’t fill a pressing need for us as we have Waterman and now Maric for that role. Arguably Culley as well based on how he was being used just prior to his knee injury

I’d rather miss English altogether than trade for him at this stage of our rebuild

Kane Cornes going hard after De Goey. Love seeing it. Just saw Jon Ralph half-time at Giants/Tigers show absolutely no report or concern for Elijah Hewett. More concern about how De Goey might go back to Bali in a flippant comment. Absolutely astounded, Ralph a genuine bath-water drinker.

I kept asking DeGoey what Bali is like this time of year, most of the dumb campaigners around me had no idea what I was talking about

As one of the clubs that have been actively opposing any increase to the soft cap they can go and get ****ed

Maybe we should be asking for an increase to our salary cap to cover all the ongoing match payments to injured players - at a rough calculation it’d be in the region of $250k already with more to come before the season ends

So the North Melbourne board approved Clarkson to start coaching at the start of November last year despite being subject to an investigation and are now asking for soft cap. In any other business this would be seen as a big risk to start employing someone with this hanging over their head...

Terrible deal.

It is still within the realm of possibility that we could get English for free next year if WB finish in the bottom 4 and our contract for English is big enough then WB might end up being able to get a top 4 pick in return for letting him go and not matching. And they might accept that. Either way, the asking price for him will be a lot lower in 12 months time than it is this year.

It is also completely against what is most important given where we are in the cycle to trade away potentially 3 top 20 picks (which we might get for pick 1) and therefore 3 potential future players in exchange for one ready made 25 year old player.

And Georgiades with his ACL, if put on the auction block at the end of this year in a hypothetical totally open auction process where the highest bidder wins (regardless of whether the player wants/consents to go there or not) would muster no higher than pick 40.

The difference is we can actually afford to pay said $250k with our own money

fair call Robbo.

It was the same when Staker got KO by Hall.

Hunter ran in and fell over and Waters flapped around a bit.

Reckon we'd be happy if a few blokes came Kamikaze style at DeGoey even if they got weeks for striking

Wait… You need to pay match payments to injured players?

Oh, Leigh Montagna actually raising the point that everyone was more concerned on De Goey and how many weeks rather than Hewett's health. Props to him.

Cant disagree with slobbo here.View attachment 1704756
Nah, as others have said, play was still going and the players were focusing on the ball and missed the action. I didn't notice it ether at the game. There was a stoppage or something soon after and I noticed a player down and was trying to figure out what happened. Sheed said he didn't see any replays and didn't find out until later.

Same thing happened with Staker and Barry Hall.
