Saw Q stick pop up on my insta feed soi went to youtube for some highlights and this came up. Reckon this would be up there as one of the funniest/s**t things to come oit of Robbo’s mouth

He was trying hard to take his foot out of his mouth but his Vicbias just wouldn't let him.
Funny stuff.

Thought this was a great (albeit optimistic) take on how the club could quickly turn things around

"That Reid is a Victorian product might be enough to sway West Coast to capitalise on the deals that will be on offer. Thus far, GWS look like having two top-ten picks following this season (currently picks 5 and 7).

Would those picks and Lachie Ash get the deal done?

Who says no?"

But Lachie Ash is also a ‘Victorian product’. The fact that Reid is Victorian won’t inform our decision in the slightest. Indications he’s a flight risk might.

From the article...

"The top four is self-explanatory really, with Hawthorn’s five cups just beating their rival Geelong to the top billing. The West Coast Eagles have been a juggernaut and the stand-out Non-Vic team, both on and off the field (they will overcome their present situation quickly)"

The Positive of the AFL Era

Over a 33-year period all AFL clubs, except Gold Coast, have made a Grand Final and multiple Preliminary Finals, which means the AFL system is working. Given the above analysis it is reasonable to expect that at some point in the future all clubs will have another chance at glory, with the question remaining; do they grab it?

It must give some hope to Saints and Dockers fans – some hope!

Definitely some mope for Docker's fans.

An emotional West Coast captain Luke Shuey has backed coach Adam Simpson, saying the players “take full blame” for the 171-point smashing at the hands of Sydney.

Shuey conceded some players who suited up “might not be up to it”, but was confident they’d win a second game this season.

The Eagles became the first team to lose 12 consecutive games by 40 points or more, with the latest their worst by some margin as the Swans dominated in a 31.19 (205) to 5.4 (34) victory at the SCG on Saturday evening.

“You just hope blokes recognise the enormity of how embarrassing that was,” Shuey said.

“That’s probably more important than actually learning stuff from a footy point of view.

“From being proud of your club point of view that we learned something about that tonight and you’d hoped that the flight home is a long, long one. And you hope we’re all hurting and I think we are.”

Simpson said he was the right man to continue to lead the Eagles in their tumultuous rebuild and Shuey backed in the premiership coach.

“I don’t know what you can do from the box on a night like that,” Shuey said.

“The way the coaches presented to us during the week about what we need to do was spot on and we just didn’t execute.

“We’ve got some guys who might not be up to it. We’ve got some senior guys who might not be carrying their weight. And we’ve got plenty of young guys who were still learning.

“As senior guys we need to give them a better environment to learn in on game day. So we’re all together as a playing group.

“We take full blame for what’s happening, there’s no doubt.

“Our coaches have proven that they can coach well over the years, they’re not the issue. We can put an end to that conversation.”

Shuey said the Eagles had “no choice” but to turn their form around and respond against St Kilda at Optus Stadium this Sunday.

“We have to show that we’re up for the fight. We can’t just roll over and let this happen again,” he said.

“St Kilda will be excited about what they saw tonight. They’ll come out sniffing blood and have a swing and we need to be up for the fight.”

The Eagles have nine games remaining to avoid a one-win season and Shuey said if he didn’t think they could do it he’d have retired by now.

“I honestly do and if I didn’t it’d probably be time for me to away from the game if I didn’t think we could win,” Shuey said.

“You’ve got to be optimistic and we’re going to get some good players back over the next few weeks.

“So long as we’ve learned from what’s happening, we’ll get a couple of wins in the back half a year and give our fans something to cheer about.”

Simpson told the press conference he didn’t speak to the players straight after the game, but Shuey did.

“I just spoke to the boys then and got a little bit emotional talking about how much the club means to a lot of us,” Shuey said.

“It doesn’t matter what we’ve achieved in the past, whether it’s premierships or how many games you’ve played, nights like that hurt.”

Blah blah blah. It's the same quotes every week and the results get worse and worse. It's all white noise to me now.

West Coast are backing in Adam Simpson to remain at the helm, with chairman Paul Fitzpatrick saying they “have faith” in the embattled coach despite mounting pressure in the wake of Saturday’s history-making loss.

Issuing a call to arms to fans, saying the club needed them “more than ever,” Fitzpatrick urged the blue-and-gold army to stay patient in the face of one of the worst stretches of form the competition has ever seen.

The Eagles suffered the fourth-biggest defeat in AFL/VFL history, losing to Sydney by a club-record 171 points.

The result on the back of a 12th consecutive loss by more than 40 points or more - also a league record - was met with widespread criticism, with some fans and experts including Kane Cornes and Mark Maclure calling for the Eagles to take action and part ways with the 2018 premiership coach.

But in a letter to members, a defiant Fitzpatrick said Simpson was the right man to put the Eagles on “the path we need to take to fight our way back”.

“Obviously, Adam Simpson and his coaching staff have been limited with what they can do with such a long injury list, but regardless we cannot tolerate performances of that nature and we expect a strong response against St Kilda next Sunday,” he said.

“We do have faith that Adam can take this team forward and we also believe in the path we need to take to fight our way back.

“It will take time because the long-term strategy revolves around bringing in more high-end young talent through the draft to lay solid foundations for the next era.

“In closing, we do hear you and we urge you to stick with us through this.

“We need you more than ever. It will turn because everyone at the club is prepared to roll up their sleeves and get it done. “

Fitzpatrick called the 171-point loss as “one of the darkest days in the history of the football club”, capping a 40-game stretch where the Eagles have mustered just three wins.

“Losing in the way that we did to Sydney was unacceptable. The 171-point margin aside, what we produced on the field was not representative of what the West Coast Eagles has stood – and still stands – for,” he said.

“We know our members and fans are hurting and so is everyone inside the football club.

“We all take a degree of responsibility for where we sit currently and equally we are all committed to fighting our way through this situation.

“It is important to get games into young players and fast track their development. We had nine players under the age of 21 take the field against the Swans and we expect them to be very good AFL players.

“But we need our senior players to set a better example for them. With a couple of exceptions many of the experienced players were well down yesterday.”

The statement came after Eagles players and staff - including chief executive Trevor Nisbett - descended on the club’s Mineral Resources Park headquarters on Sunday morning to assess the fallout from their latest thrashing.

Speaking after Saturday’s loss, Simpson insisted he was still the right man for the job despite labelling the result “unacceptable” and “embarrassing”.

An assumption. Mighta been even worse under another captain. Bit harsh I think when you look at how he (and Yeo) seem to be the only ones giving a stuff.

Not an assumption at all. He is the captain where standards have slipped so dramatically we are the laughing stock of the league.. will go down easily as the clubs worst captain
