It’s a rather dumb concept but that poll is part of a bigger setup to determine the best side of the century

There’s 32 teams in it which is the 23 premiership sides from Essendon in 2000 through to Geelong in 2022 plus 9 other sides to fill out the 32. So they’ve picked sides considered the best non premiership sides like Geelong in ‘08 and Richmond in ‘18

The two eagles premiership sides are in the 32

Oddly the eagles side of ‘05 isn’t there but the Crows ‘05 side is despite them missing the GF. The same as Richmond in ‘18 being there despite losing the prelim that year

It’s still a dumb poll
I could have saved them the effort and told them its Brisbane Lions.

Of course they need to ensure it is a Victorian team so need to frame it in such a way that either the Cats or Hawks will be the winner.

Re: Crows 05 Maybe teams that finished top of the ladder in that period but didn't win a flag if I had to guess

Non-premiership sides

2001 Bombers
2002 Power*
2006 Crows* (Not 05 as previously stated)
2008 Cats
2009 Saints
2011 Collingwood
2014 Swans
2016 Giants* (Lol)
2018 Tigers*

* Didn’t make GF

No Dockers, Kangaroos, Blues or Suns

Like I said, stupid poll

Setup for a 2000 Bombers vs 07/08 Cats. Even though 03 Lions should be the winner.

2006 Eagles vs 2021 Melbourne would be a great contest. Both had strong mids and defence, with weak Tall forwards. I reckon 06 Midfield would get them over the line, just.

So Dockers finish on top of the ladder and make the GF after beating Geelong at home and only lose due to a bit of stage freight in their first ever GF against a 3peat side with undeserved home advantage... and still dont make the list with sides that didnt even make a GF appearance?

Yeah I'd say there might be a bit of venom being spat over on the purples board and rightly so.

The year those useless kents finished on top they didn't even make the Grand Final.

Think you are mixing up 2013 and 2015 for Freo there

2013 they finished 3rd and rolled Geelong at Kardinya to then get the home prelim Vs Sydney. After that they then faced the Hawks in the GF

2015 was the year they finished top of the ladder. They started the year like a house on fire but faded as the season went on. Lost a prelim to the Hawks over here.

True, was thinking it was 13 they finished top. Still the point stands that they should be on this list for 13. Clearly a good team to lose a GF then Top of the table 2 years later. I

Kane Cornes again had a crack at Simmo and the club. Surprisingly most of the FB comments were taking pot shots at Kane than at the club or players. Think Kanes reached a point where AFL fans universally don’t give a **** about what he says even if it’s got some validity to it

Look, I don’t like the purples either but Fyfe is among the best player of this century, he’s gotta be in there.
GAblett a clear standout. People forget just how dominant he was in that period +/- when he changed clubs. Before the injuries hit. He was off the scale.
Judd was probably the next most 'tear a game apart' one. Luckily we saw the most of that side of him at WCE.
Fyfe. Like GAblett (and even Judd) you have to concentrate on when he was injury free and at his peak. Deserves it.
Dusty - often pedestrian and disinterested during the season. But didn't he come alive in finals.
Voss - it's really a question of who from the Brisbane side. And for me Voss gets it over Black and Aker as the best of them.

That's five.
Cuzz has the obvious question mark of being addicted to class A 'recreational' 'party' drugs. A totally different question mark to that of our Essendon candidate who should be disqualified.
Selwood for longevity and consistency of performance?
Mitchell? Goodes? Take your pick really. Arguments for probably 10 guys to take the last spot.

Probably Ricciuto. 8 times AA. 5 of those this century. Brownlow and a few other accolades.

There is nothing that Dusty can do that Gablett, WCE Judd or Cousins couldn't do. All three could also play pure mid and Cousins is a much stronger leader.

I'd go with Gablett, Judd, Cousins, Voss, Hird, Riccutio. Gablett, Voss and Roo can provide the inside grunt, Judd, Cousins, Hird outside run with goal scoring capability. All three can play inside when required as well.

Fyfe misses out for me as he is slow and can't kick. Gablett, Voss and Roo are just as good inside but can also kick.

When you make valid points and everyone dismisses them there is usually a reason for that (i.e. you've been a ****wit for too long and now people just don't wanna hear from you at all) and it should be a time for some self-reflection for Kane. I'm not sure it will be.

Crack about what?
Doesn't he know it was Simmo's bday😲

Fox Footy have dropped their predicted R1 team.

They’ve ruled out Duggan and gone a bit bonkers throwing in all of Ginbey, Hewett and Culley - and randomly thrown Alex Witherden in there which I don’t think I’ve seen in any other team.

I'd be pretty happy with that really. West is the questionable one for mine - like to see him out and JJones in.

He's now gone back to the well for what I believe is the 5th time on the same topic. He's part desperate for recognition, part run out of shock jock ideas.

Agreed. I think West and Witherden are the 2 big question marks in that team.

West - we have Shuey, Culley, Ginbey and Hewett who can and will play a bit of mid (rotating to other spots) SPS at a pinch too - so do we need West as well?

Witherden - similarly we have Ginbey, Hunt, Shuey and Yeo all capable of playing HBF. I'd prefer another forward in his place.
