he hasn't been an AFL player during a season yet, so that's for the blinding glimpse of the obvious.Well yes. I am sure that he has done many things but he hasn’t played an AFL game yet was the point.
So NOT good news for Swans supporters eh Pavlich?Cringe-worthy!
Perth Now website clickbait headline states "Early boost for Eagles as another Swans star.."
Turns out to be story on Luke Parker fracturing his arm, which they re-badged as a boost for the Eagles as he won't be there for their round 4 game.
I feel dirty just for clicking
Did you see what he did in 1994? His GF was even better than '92....Peter Sumich is a dickhead, I don't care what he did in 1992.
Harley Reid. Where do I even start with this fella? It's like, imagine you're at a BBQ, right, and instead of snagging a juicy steak, you somehow end up gnawing on a burnt chop that even the dog turns its nose up at. That's Reid in a nutshell. His playing style, if we're using the term loosely, is akin to watching a toddler chase a balloon on a windy day – lots of running around, arms flailing, but no real hope of catching it.
The bloke runs around the field like he's playing a game of tag with ghosts. Every time the ball comes near him, it's as if he's trying to decipher an ancient riddle rather than just playing the footy. Passes to him are like messages in a bottle thrown into the sea – hopeful but ultimately lost forever.
Defensively, I've seen paper bags put up a better fight in a breeze. Opponents breeze past him so easily, you'd think he's part of the welcoming committee rather than a defender. It's not even funny; well, actually, it is, but in the kind of way that makes you want to cry into your beer rather than laugh.
And who made the decision to bring him in? Must've been a decision made after a long lunch at the pub, 'cause no sober mind would look at Reid and think, "Yep, that's the missing piece to our puzzle." It's like trying to fix a leaky faucet with a stick of gum. Sure, you can try, but we all know it's not gonna hold.
Now, I get it, everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves, and maybe, just maybe, Reid will turn it around. But from where I'm sitting, which is currently on a barstool with a pint in hand, it seems about as likely as me winning a marathon tomorrow. And let me tell you, the only running I do these days is from the couch to the fridge during halftime.
So, here's to Harley Reid, may his time with the Eagles be... short. And to the decision-makers at the club, please, for the love of all that is holy, let's make our next recruit someone who knows their way around a footy field, not just someone who looks like they've won a contest to be there.
Which is my point. You seem to be reading into my comments as a criticism of Harley and I am not sure how. But to state the blinding obvious, it wasn’t. It was a criticism of the media likening him to Judd and the “unlikening” him to Judd when the poor kid hasn’t played an AFL game yet.he hasn't been an AFL player during a season yet, so that's for the blinding glimpse of the obvious.
Got ChatGPT to write it for me
“I just said in the article ... this kid is no Chris Judd. He’s going to be a very good player, don’t get me wrong, he’s going to be very, very good. But don’t put him in the Chris Judd category.
“He’s still got a bit to learn, he’s still got a bit of puppy fat, he’s a country boy, he’s got to work through that over the first few years of pre-seasons and get fully fit and all that type of tuff, and The West knocked it back. I thought alright, if that’s the case, I’m out of here.”
Man, imagine the editor knocking ONE article back and then cracking the shits and quitting.I wasnt that far off

Sumich is just Kane Cornes from Wish.An intelligent person would be sad to see Sumich go. Unless you are a dead ender who not only doesn't want to read anything that doesn't confirm their pre - existing biases and opinions but also probably take an intense personal dislike to anybody who writes things that that don't confirm their pre - existing biases and opinions. You don't want to waste time reading articles from people just trying to get clicks from radical headlines, but you also don't learn anything reading only things from people with the exact same opinion as you.
You might not like or agree with most of what he wrote, or you might be like me and agree with a lot of it but disagree with some of it. But i have no doubt that he believed what he wrote and wasn't writing it just to be sensational. And his opinion was a qualified one. He has worked in the system for a long time and had a lot of success, unlike most of the idiots who write articles who don't know anymore and are no more qualified than a casual fan. I would rather read a Sumich article than drivel from a Ryan Daniels or Woodcock who don't know anymore than i do.
I'm sure they'll be able to find someone else to write those. A mysterious new writer named Chet Gupta perhaps.Damn, so we're not gonna get any more 'Simmo should be sacked and replaced by ??? ' articles this year? Shame...

At the end of the day.
Complaining that there is too much articles only to post an article able Harley reid is not on.
Add a wrinkle of criticism for one pracca is no go as well.
The issue is with the first.
Tbh I actually predicted the port game would be the one that grounds him back to reality.I know Peter reasonably well and he does have a short fuse. He's also become a grumpier prick as he's gotten older.
It probably went down something along the lines of this. Pete we aren't going to run your article because of this, this and this. Probably most of which was because of the TV interview but said in a polite but condescending business manner.
Peter would have come out and said print it or you can * off.
He would have been told they weren't printing it and he walked.
This is the simplified version where you cut out all the bullshit.
I will give him one thing outside of his career and that he is actually quite a good identifier or talent and is very good at getting juniors to work as a team towards a goal.
Lets also face a pretty straight up fact, Chris Judd when he first burst onto the scene and prior to the monumental *up of his OP and it's treatment was the best player in the game. His 03-06 whilst not super huge possession numbers each game was just on a level that even almost all of the greatest of the greats never produced for more than a season. If he had of carried that through his entire career he would have finished his career almost certainly considered the greatest player of the AFL era. His first half against the lions in 03 against what was easily considered the best in league midfield and one of the best if not the best midfield of all time was out of this world.
So saying Harley is no Chris Judd to me is no slight. It was already known and I certainly made a point of telling people that the difference between pick 1-3 (Reid, Walter, McKercher) wasn't as much as people thought and that he didn't have the endurance. I can also tell you that no matter what anyone says Harley would have learnt a huge amount from the game vs Freo and it will drive him to be a stronger, more powerful and more complete footballer. He got a quick lesson of what it was like being the highest rated kid in the land to the level AFL is at. I honestly don't think anything better could have happened for his long term development.
Don't think he'll have much to worry about from SPP...Tbh I actually predicted the port game would be the one that grounds him back to reality.
However, the Fremantle game was a surprise game that in essence grounded him back to reality.
In saying that the port game is the biggest test for him. It's going to be his hardest game and team he will be up against. Unlucky for him it's round one
He will need to get past the bulls in JHF and SPP. Even if he gets past this two you then got
Rozee and butters and Rioli. That game will humble him.
No other team is a harder matchup for Harley reid then Port.
I think the biggest issue with the Muddle-Headed Wombat comparing Reid to early career Judd, is that unlike Judd, Reid literally hasn't played a game of AFL.I know Peter reasonably well and he does have a short fuse. He's also become a grumpier prick as he's gotten older.
