For the first time since I was born, I'm 'choosing' not to go tonight without anything else on. I nearly decided to go, but on a Thursday night, to watch a certain thrashing, and watch the embarrassment that is this team and the way they play, I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

So emotionally detached from this team now.

I often wonder is this what it has always felt like for supporters of other clubs? This constant feeling of emotional detachment because success is few and far between? I'm definitely feeling that expectation of success now fade that's for sure, as the last half of my life has seen zero, whilst the first half was all about the great PAFC performing and excelling, and not accepting mediocrity. It was a feeling that left you permanently attached. Now I feel like what other clubs supporters must be like in feeling like "oh maybe one day we'll win again, I'll just passively support until then".

My head says lose. It's for the greater good of the club, to get this regime out. But my heart says win. It goes against everything I was brought up to believe in, it goes against everything I value and love about the club. I feel ashamed of myself to be doing it, but I want us to lose, to get these awful current custodians out. Least that's what I hope will happen, because hopes the only thing I got left.

shudder.... Melbourne by 30. Ports to win every stat but the scoreboard.

We'll probably win and the 'told you so' Hinkley lovers will be out in force with their incredibly short memories!

I'll be there to watch the nonsense (either way).

i hope we get absolutely smoked tonight and i think it might be on the cards considering every game we have played we have ran out of legs in the last quarter, our defence have leaked goals really easily (round 1 daniher, round 2 Lewis, round 3 himmleburg & gollant who have never really kicked multiple goals in their lives), our forward line have struggled to hit the scoreboard along with the goalless quarters which are becoming a habit. Our midfield seem to be getting the ball but are either going backwards with it or going forward with it for a turn over.

But then again it would be so Portesque to put in a half decent game to tell us all "you wont take away our mediocrity that easily, we love coasting too much"

If a smacking is on the cards the media nuffies wont have much to stand on unless the Allir/Dixon line gets a through wacking in which i will respond 'both played in the prelim.'

It’s a sad state of affairs when I’ll be more disappointed with a win.
That's how I'm feeling.this morning. A sense of dread if we win.
Against the reigning premiers?

I'm sure there is nothing to worry about. In all likely hood it'll be a match where the best part about it is that they did this to us in a regular season game and not last years grand final, to save us some form of embarrassment.

Hard to get enthused about the game, but last week I had this crappy feeling all week we would lose to the camry's (not in the way we did) but thought we would lose.

This week, I don't know, I just have this feeling we're gonna pull something out of our arses tonight and win.

To be blunt, I'm actually surprised the game day thread was posted before lunch time - such is the apathy amongst Port fans right now. I for one am struggling to summon any enthusiasm for tonight's contest.
I feel you there.

Have no excitement nor enthusiasm as well for this encounter just get it over and done with.

Reading most comments on here about people saying that they hope we lose, just makes it so sad but at the same time like most within the first 3 rounds I've lost of feeling and love for watching the club I support, Hinkleys drained the life out of me the way he has got this team playing.

Don't think I'll even go to a game this year. Sack Hinkley.

Can you imagine? Backs against the wall stuff. "We did it for Kenny we love Kenny! Thanks true believers!"

Followed by 5 rounds of complete mediocrity and no chance of finals but hey we fired a shot in a meaningless H&A game.
Why would we need to imagine it. We just need to remember. It has happened more than once already.

Not going. Son is though.

I'm getting choosy about what games I attend now, the drivel of a game plan and the treacle like way we play, allied to the disconnect the club is leveraging with its supporters, has me disillusioned and disenfranchised to some degree 😕😢

I still want us to win EVERY game we play. I also want the regime that is running our club into a morass of low expectations and mediocrity OUT of Alberton.

But Port had always epitomized a winning culture, no matter what the cost, and I cannot dissociate myself from the absolute necessity and desire to win win win 🥇

So carn Ports. Kick arse tonight.

And I trust that the two imperitives - of winning, whilst jettisoning the dead wood from the club (which on face value appear to be mutually exclusive events), can hopefully both occur.
