Thought it was an interesting article given some of his comments in interviews about what Scott would do differently or what he’s committed to at Essendon etc.

Interesting compared to his comments to the ABC about welcoming past players at the club inc. Hird.

Description of team style:

I’d be happy enough if our only problem was lack of talent. Acquiring such is not generally a problem for us.
Scott, and his brother, played against the 90’s North crew of course. The North teams of that time were super aggressive and the Scott’s wouldn’t have taken a backwards step ….wouldn’t underestimate that as part of why King et al didn’t like him.

I don’t think I’ve ever had any respect for things King says. Just another former player who got a media gig because doing homework was beyond him.

So he says buckle-up for a bumpy ride...short term pain for long term gain...no more mature-age recruits...pick elite draft talent... board happy with that.

Looks like bottom 4 finishes ahead.

Probably shouldn’t be trading F1.

I’d love to see him enter an Essendonian function and drop his shoulder into THE RED SASH as he walks through, David King style.

They’re all over rated coaches but I’m going to like Scotty. I liked Truck as well but watching him talk publicly, looking at him on the bench he came over as completely awkward, very much the deer caught in the headlights.
He‘s much better in the role he has now at richmond, tucked away, no public speaking !!
Scott comes across as a hard campaigner, no nonsense and he’ll tell it to you straight and is comfortable in front of a microphone. Truck was the complete opposite. If he can do anything with this average list I’ll be amazed. He’s smart to say that it’s going to take time and it will.
In our favour is that it so bloody even and doesn’t take much to turn it around.

any time kingy has a take i just remember this and laugh

There was the time he accused Scott, 10 years in the job, underresourced, and loyal to his players to a fault, of being fly in, not a North person. Implying that he had used North and that he had damaged it.

I doubt I'll shake the hunch that King convincing some dimwit like Archer is behind the sacking and the next year. His fingerprints seem to be all over the debacle of the scorched earth rebuild. It's been like the real life implementation of his dumb ideas.

He's almost certainly had the ear of influential people at North.

Mentioned he met with the full playing group for the first time today, before the Crichton. (There was a meet and greet on Friday but not everyone was there.)

Also mentioned in his speech something about the condition that players come back in after their break is telling. Interesting thing to say publicly.

He may be attempting to experiment with the idea of holding the players to some kind of standard.

It's a bold strategy, Cotton, etc.

Will also be interested to see if he can wean us off the time honoured tradition of hobbling all the players with a sledgehammer, Kathy Bates-style, but maybe that's too much too soon.

It's character building

That's what I tell by boys when their mum pipes up about her team and all the flags they've won in their lifetime.

They weren't shy about the beer hall photos with pint glasses and waiters and waitresses - delivering the 2nd + round perhaps.
Then there's Ibiza.

I think Draper mentioned on his podcast that he’s not due back until mid November, which would be after the draft. 1st-4th years should be two weeks before that, at the start of November
