while you are at it, why dont you pick out some names of players who played in the 30's and 40's as well

or why not go back to the 1890's

If your going to call Grinter filth, then whats the difference with "Choppy". Hitting unaware players with no intention of going for the ball is just as gutless. Maybe someday Pickett will learn how to play football.

It's a part of the game, if any player doesn't like it they would be better off sitting over the other side of the fence.

Like it or not, Byron was recruited to Port to intimidate the opposition, and add a bit of toughness to the side. There is no better intimidator than Choppy in full flight.

Nothing to do with courage, just playing the game his employers expect him to do. Anyone who says they wouldn't love that sort of player (but hopefully getting a few more kicks than Choppy currently is) at their own club is a wowser, a liar or a moron.

Those 2 bumps Pickett made were perfectly legal.......Get over it Melbourne supporters......you won the bloody match for **** sake!
He was just suggesting that perhaps if Pickett put his focus on the ball and not the player, then he wouldn't be so much of a hack. He then pointed out how gutless Pickett's acts were. If you have a problem with someone expressing an opinion of a player, get ****ed.

All-Australian premiership player, I think he has a fair idea.

Picketts bump was within two metres of the ball, he was sheperding a team mate which is an everyday part of the game.
It wasn't so long ago that Melbourne supporters were bloating about how tough David Schwarze was.

Pickett did not need to focus on the ball - he was acting within the rules of the game to assist his team...

In the Brown bump he was laying a shepherd, about 2 metres off the ball. Perfectly legal. Have a cry.

The bump against Godfrey was applying pressure as he disposed it, once again perfectly legal, otherwise the umpires, who would obviously been looking at the play, would've called a free kick. Once again, have a cry.

You've just beaten a top 4 team and you're having a whinge about Byron Pickett... ummm, OK.

I seem to remember that other hard Melb man... Earl Spalding making a gutless attempt at Guy McKenna while he had his head down... causing a career ending injury.

The difference. What Choppy does is legal, what Grinter did was not.

Picketts bumps have been the most scrutinised in the league, he has never been suspended for one, from memory he has never even been cited.

Further, if we've seen anything from the Kangaroos recruits Pickett and Cochrane, it's that they're willing to do the team thing and run to lay a shepherd.

I think fellow Power supporters would agree with me that we must have one of the lower effective shepherd rankings in the competition. If then other 20 players took a page out of these two's book we wouldn't have to wait for a fourth quarter revival when it's too late.

Get ****ed yourself! I don't see how legitimate bumps could be considered gutless & I don't see how those bumps justified the Melbourne crowd booing him whenever he got the ball.

So what you're saying is, you do have a problem with someone expressing an opinion about a player?

If you're going to be pedantic about spelling, at least spell right yourself.

You really are grasping at short straws here, 'ya gunna' is slang spelling for 'you are going to', it's not like it was' your giong too'. Rough as it may be, Pickett's was legal from what i saw. Therefore there is nothing to be concerned about.

that's abit silly......the Shinboners were tough as well and you'd have a winge everytime one of your fancy Demon players got knocked over. Hope not all you Demon ppl are not as thin-skinned as you are demonstrating tonight. tsk tsk tsk

btw..... for the record Choppy has not been suspended for punishing opponents WITHIN the rules. That's a fact.:)

Her whole post was about hiim spelling Byron Bryon, I was not clutching at straws, in fact I was pointing out how much it didn't matter how he spelt the guys name.

Byron Pickett is a joke. He can't get anywhere near the footy, so he takes out players after the ball has been kicked away. That is why we call is gutless.

You Port supporters should be ashamed of the way he played the game today. Couldn't get a kick to save himself, so he went the man. Sure, we had David Schwarz he was tough AT THE BALL, where as Pickett is not.

What I find even funnier is that he took out two players who are half his size. Yep, I'm sure Pickett feels all nice and good about himself. Too bad Brown and Godders had the last laugh. Pickett is a hack.

And if you have a problem with a perfectly legitimate shepherd being made then go watch the ****ing netball.

You obviously have no idea about Football. Its calle dprotecting your teammates. You say he should go for the football...was he supposed to run at his teammate and snatch the ball off him you fool? Stop acting like a total prissy little bitch and face the fact that one of your players was legitimately bumped. Get over it. He was within 3 metres of the ball. There was no elbow. There was no headhigh contact. Where is the bloody problem? Every player lays shepherds. Is it Picketts fault that Nathan Brown has no peripheral vision? No. So stop acting like a little ****ing pansy and move on with your life.

As for Pickett learning how to play football. Rising Star, All Australian premiership player. More than the majority of your list has ever done and suffice to say more than you will ever do as well.
