You're worried? :D We don't get the right bites this year, he stays and plays. Just like Gibbs. No biggy.

Plenty of club's want Gov, would be willing to offer him good contract and us a good deal, and finally we want to trade him.
There's no chance he stays with us

Sorry to intrude, but this idea of keeping McGovern and playing him in the SANFL if he sooks and then trading him out in two years sounds a bit far fetched.

Wouldn't it be more valuable to send him off now for a mid-first rounder, perhaps turn that into a pick high enough for Rankine or Lukosius and call it a day?

If you go with the holding onto him tactic, don't you run the risk of him spudding it up for two years and then no one takes him for more than a pick in the 30s?

In comparison to the Gibbs situation, Gibbs was happy to stay another year until a deal was made and therefore his stock didn't fall due to bad form or sitting in the reserves. I think the McGovern situation isn't as cheery.
Pyke and Gov get along and Pyke refused to drop Lever after we all knew he was going and the senior players questioned his commitment to the side for the rest of the year. Pyke has consistently brought him back into the 22 after injuries, sometimes without SANFL form, he'll be in the AFL side next year.

Seems Carlton fans have poor memories.

Andrew Walker also requested a trade to us in 2010, but Carlton wouldn't deal with us.

No.

We really are in a no lose situation here. Hold out for something that satisfies us at the trade table. If it doesn't play out exactly how we need /want it to, hold him to his contract, which gives at worst gives us another 2 years of a very good player, and at best gives us 2 years to win him over and potentially extend for another contract.

If what we're told is correct and he loves the coach, loves the club and loves the players, and his issue is only with the admin, then there's no way known he spits the dummy and plays with an attitude problem next year (and the year after) in the event we don't strike a trade.

There is just no logical reason why we should accept anything but what we are reasonably asking.

Gov hasn't nominated anyone yet right?

Seems to be waiting on swans/Maggies/Hawks.
If the Swans get Darcy Moore, then you would think the Pies would be into Gov.

Which clubs have had the most early picks, and are they the most successful?
I'm not sure the thinking behind these posts ( yours and ww ) are you saying getting top 5 draft picks is no biggie? Clubs that get continuous top 5 picks are shit , not because of the players they drafted but because their coaching and development is shit.

Hawks had 1 shot and built a dynasty. Gee it'd be nice for the AFC to get a couple

Depends if you believe he is leaving for money or to get out

If its for money ( and I think it is ) then he will continue to try and maintain his dollar value wherever he plays. Either here in the SANFL or the AFL side. If he thinks he has a 'brand' then he wont damage that

If as you are alluding to he is leaving because the camp affected then I'm sorry it must have affected him quite a bit to choose Carlton. If he is leaving because he is unhappy he will go anywhere

You're starting to realise it's not going to happen how you thought it would.

It'd be funny if Carlton missed out on everyone!

For years Carlton supporters have been jizzing themselves in their Bluemour thread about the 5-8 players set to choose them in the off season.

The reality kicks in during the trade period when they miss all their top targets, get their 4th most preferred option and a couple of Darcy Lang/Matt Lobbe type spuds
