We’re more stocked for Key Defenders than Key Forwards. We’ve got Harris Andrews, Darcy Gardiner, Josh Walker, Matthew Eagles, Jack Payne and Sam Skinner.

Up forward, Hipwood and McStay are the main two with some sort of talent. McStay is really close to a break out but he needs to work on his kicking seeing as we are now persisting with him as a forward.

Apart from those two, we only really have Ballenden, Fullerton and Skinner depending on which way we choose to develop him.

Dude, welcome back

This board does lack posters with real intel, I’m know there are some and this generally is shared by PMs. You read the Carlton board for example and there seems to be 2-3 posters with runs on the board. Instead we have horses, horse trainers and horses arse.
It was also a problem on the Trades & Drafting Forum ......anyone with Intel, or a real U18 Draft Watcher ...simply gets driven off the boards, by nutters

This board used to have a half a dozen very knowledgeable posters with some insights, pretty much all gone ....and as you say the few that are remaining, communicate via PM

And all this time Carlton don’t get their man and continue to lose.
The word from Kevin Bartlett tonight is his source reliably claiming Hawthorn the front runner .....forget Carlton

Was in Melbourne over the weekend, a young chap attending the function I was at on Saturday night has a very close connection to a current Crows players' brother. During our chat, it came out that the belief is that McGovern is a certainty to be at Carlton next year.

Even though I don't believe McG is the type of player we desperately need, time will tell if this snippet of info turns out to be true or not.

Will not be holding my breath.

We've never ever ever pulled off a twist at trade time, i don't expect that to change.
Chin up ......I'm very optimistic of a good draft & trade period .....I'm excited, love this period

So like 4th hand info then.

Do the players really know .....doubt McGovern is confiding with players about how negotiations are going or which club .............still don't think McGovern knows if a deal can be done & would be keeping quiet ......players probably repeating the jungle drums from the media

Seems a lot of clubs with salary cap room (Richmond, port, kangas, Saints, Essendon, Freo, Brisbane, West Coast, Sydney, Collingwood , Carlton) we don’t seem to be one.
The problem with our model of paying players reasonably evenly is that the lower players getting overs are never going to want to leave, it’s the better players on unders that will want to go.

oh so do I, but I'm not going to pretend we are a mover a shaker in this department (trade week)
I have the opposite POV ......everytime we've finished 12th, the club has reacted savagely ....normally a new Coach, but after a perfect storm of negativity towards the club + our finishing position ....i expect a big trade week reaction by the club

There is a curse on players that leave the Crows .There was in 2018 departures from AC..Mcgovern is already an injury prone player.

Its shit. Depth is overrated if you don't have the top end players. We supposedly had/have depth. Our grand final changes suggest our depth is shite.

You create depth by bringing in talent and pushing down, not by bringing in more middle

Aaahhh so you're a believer in the Saints model, that has delivered one premiership in over 100 years ......righto

That is an interesting perspective, I guess we have a few weeks to wait until it plays out.

Yep..Yeah... For sure.
That's what you're suggesting by saying, have an elite top end and fill up the remaining 8 spots ......isn't that Geelongs problem currently, too good a top end, but poor depth
