SOS will walk away if need be, he has done it before to Adelaide.

Let it be known very clearly, Carlton Football Club are not desperate to trade for Mitch McGovern. Rather it is McGovern himself who is wanting out of the Adelaide Football Club.
If he does - that’s fine

I don’t think McGovern lies awake at night wanting to get to Carlton much more than any other Vic club and most of them will be interested

Pies Hawks Sydney Kangas Saints GC Freo and maybe WC will all be interested and if he wants out will only take one of those clubs to cough up with what we need

I was on BF once before a long time ago but under a different name that i won't go back to.

All I will offer is direction & say no more as the BF forum should be open for any content.

Poster's should only take interest for what they want, stop slamming rumour's or newbie's as trolls if you want the overall quality of BF to improve

In regards to McGovern i suggest keeping eyes in the direction i suggested but this will TWIST. So to all the poster's clearly this is not a rumour it's a post.

Dont listen to vic media it has a bad flavour

No, Gibbs had more of a need to get back to Adelaide... but Carlton didn't care.

Crows have a history of trading players for personal reasons - Cameron last year, Griffin to Freo, etc.
except gibbs then came out and said publicly that he is more than happy to stay at carlton for another year :) lets just see if MM says the same if a trade doesnt happen

Also as stupid as this sounds I had someone from another state (same employer) post on an internal forum that he heard Carlton are getting Pick 4 as a PP
Would be a travesty to the game if this happened... but I'd learn to live with it.

That was after it became obvious SOS wouldn't be reasonable with a trade.

The fact remains Gibbs' preference was to head home for personal reasons so his baby could have grandparent support & Carlton had little interest in making a deal happen.

Compare to the Crows who have traded players who wanted out for personal reasons as we actually consider the players' welfare.

I'm not sure the AFL know what to do. The 1st, correct and only response is ' no contracts shall be dissolved by the AFL'

Surely there's lodgement dates that are set in stone. If the AFL have created a situation where a contract can be renegotiated, lodged and approved and it results in the player being uncontracted cone free agency time, then that seems perfectly fine to me. Screw the AFL, this is a simple 'what if' scenario that should have been considered. If they didn't do it, then they need to look like the idiots that they mostly are.

Nor are Adelaide desperate, as Gov is a best 22 player under contract who we would prefer to keep.

If Carlton are allegedly offering Gov money that would make him one of your top tier earners, then that would suggest your team is keen to gain his services.

One possible inference is that Barrett is implying that your club’s option of playing hardball with MM, via the threat of retaining him, has been reality tested by someone/some-entity of note; and that your club has been advised that doing so would be adverse to its interests.

As far as the 'let him go' scenario is concerned, one such criterion might be your club’s reputation moving forward; another might be related to your club’s ability to enforce its contact against the player altogether.

Don't be so simple. Our contract with him is the same structure and intent as every other player contract in the AFL. If it's not enforceable, then it's a total league problem, not an Adelaide problem.

Are you inviting me to respond?

i agree, it comes down to the author; hence no inference was made as to whether Barrett had a valid basis for his comment.
In any case, I understand its a sensitive subject. No ill will was intended.
Take a hike Macbeth.

Never mind walking away. If you’re not coming with a top five pick, don’t bother knocking.

Thanks I'll pass that on.

What was your name again? Just need it for my email to Reid.

All standard player contracts would be straight forward and identical apart from any special additions or amendments.
However does Mitch have valid reasons to breach his contract should it be necessary, due to negligence or dereliction of duty and care by his club?
We’re not privy to the facts, but obviously something is brewing, player is disillusioned and wants out.

Who gives a **** what he comes out and says, he ain’t standing out of football for 2 years. It’s that simple

Hear ye, Hear ye!

Let it be known that we do not care about what thou thinks, therefore begone thy Carlton heathens, back to the bottom of the ladder whence you came.

Particularly if he's picked Carlton. Dead set certifiable.

In short, no.

Gov doesn't have a valid reason to void his contract.

Geez you Carton supporters are desperados listening to your Vic centric media BS.
