Why is Barrett telling the world that Adelaide should take whatever they can get for Gov (which he thinks is late first round at best) because Gov will have some sad stories to tell this year?

Does he had any self-respect left?

Its amazing how many media people arent contemplating the fact that the trade may not happen. And we wont care.

Because he iz on the payroll of certain managers to push their agendas

I heard on C7 news that MM has nominated Carlton and that the club believes an arrangement will be worked out.
I hope that the AFC string Carlshit around right up to the beginning of trade week. Then tell the world that a deal could not be worked out because Carlshit is not prepared to value MM highly enough.

Have they? Im hearing a lot less than that. 3 years and incentive based.

Been reported that other vic clubs and fremantle are also chasing him, so what makes you think he would pick a wooden spooner over them if he's not getting a better salary? What else do you have to sell over them?

Not really. Gibbs didnt request a trade first time around. Your club did it for him.

lol what? He told Adelaide and carlton he wanted a trade and we announced. Using your logic McGovern hasn't asked for a trade either, as we are the ones that gave out a press release, so far Mitch has said nothing.

What's with Carlton supporters and Silvagni? They make him like a god over there, I honestly don't see what he's done to gain that 'status' considering he's gained rejects mainly from GWS.

I think being such a shit football club that it has somehow rotted their brains.

Useless is a flattering term for SOS when it comes to his list management ability.

Agents are the ones who broker trades between the clubs, do the leg work and try to make it happen

If Colin Young thinks a deal can be done, he’d have spoken to Carlton about what they’re thinking and Adelaide about what they want

Given the recent history between the 2 clubs you’d be doing extra homework to be sure before going public

I just hope we’re not trying to be too helpful or accommodating

So far the Gov trade is following the usual script. Origin club says we'll only trade him if we get a deal that's good for the club. Vic media says he's worth pick 12 or thereabouts. Suitor club (Carlton) uses a mouthpiece in the Vic media to try and talk down said player's value, says origin club will take what they get because they're not going to keep a guy who doesn't want to be there. Barrett is using the extra salt of threatening to "spill the beans" about the camp. That's where we are now.

Next step - other clubs (Freo, Hawks, whoever) declare interest, media overreacts and declares player is hot property, let's say he's now worth two first rounders or a top 5 pick, which will probably be where Justin Reid starts the bidding on day one of trade week. Eventually we'll get back to where we started - he'll go for a pick around the middle of the first round. Or we'll hold firm and keep him if we have the balls to sack Burton, which I suspect we don't.

All the noise in the middle is down to 24/7 footy media not having enough to talk about.

One possible inference is that Barrett is implying that your club’s option of playing hardball with MM, via the threat of retaining him, has been reality tested by someone/some-entity of note; and that your club has been advised that doing so would be adverse to its interests.

As far as the 'let him go' scenario is concerned, one such criterion might be your club’s reputation moving forward; another might be related to your club’s ability to enforce its contact against the player altogether.

What else do they have? ;)

Truly fill sorry for them... ok maybe not, but I can see why they get so hyped this time of year and go on the offensive during this time of year after following Carlton embarrass them season after season for so many years.

That is what I would expect it to happen. But I too hope we are not being too accommodating.

All standard player contracts would be straight forward and identical apart from any special additions or amendments.
However does Mitch have valid reasons to breach his contract should it be necessary, due to negligence or dereliction of duty and care by his club?
We’re not privy to the facts, but obviously something is brewing, player is disillusioned and wants out.

He asked to be traded last year as well. The smoking gun isn’t smoking.
