I prefer the other Travis goals that day. This bloke gave me a lot of pleasure at Geelong.

and

Don't know what was better about TV's last quarter goal - the roar, the feeling at the time that we might be going all the way again, or the looks on McGuire and his kids' faces?

Good list VD. I was going to mention Lynch and Lindner but you beat me to it.

I'll give you one omission which does surprise me - no David Clarke?
I loved David Clarke, and in fact used to run with him at Landy Field off-season over a few summers. He was classy, brilliant shot for goal, but not quite exhilarating. I did say exciting but not necessarily best.
Same deal Ken Hinkley- classy player, silky, but could not enjoy him > Wojo or Marshall

Would love to form a team of the most EXCITING Geelong players seen (not necessarily BEST)
-the players that make you come to games to see their freakish skills-

FB -Vinar Scarlett Bews
HB- Marshall Graham Wojcinski
C- M.Turner Dangerfield Riccardi
HF- Sharrock Ryan SJohnson
FF- GAblett jnr Gablett snr Varcoe
R- Farmer GHocking Goggin
i/c Brownless, Lindner, P Lynch, Burns,

Vinar- only player I've seen to rival Ben Graham's prodigious kicks
Scarlett- our Sideshow Bob
Bews-a superskilled bp/fp/rover
Marshall- a brilliant footballer in defence or midfield
Graham- the longest cnsistent kick we've seen in the AFL
Wojo- quickest of the quick, often the spark we needed
Turner- brilliant, quick, skilled winger/hff
Dangerfield-the best and most exciting player in the comp past 3 years.
Riccardi- silky skilled left foot winger
Sharrock- the epitome of a Cats player- played as skillfully as you'd ever see a HFF play
Billy- the best aerialist on a consistent basis
Dog- a freakishly skilled opportunist
GAJ- second best Cat I've ever seen
GAS- Best player I've ever seen- the TOTAL package
Varcoe-at his best, a very exciting player
Polly- created handball as an offensive weapon
Buddha- loved his ferocity at every contest
Billy Goggin- best exponent of the stab pass the game has seen
Billy Brownless- high marking, long kicking exciting player
Lindner- if not for GAS, would have been as exciting a player as we've seen
Lynchy- dodgy hammies aside, would have been a freak player
Ronny- bamboozled opponents, teammates and himself with his blind-turns, but when on, was hot.

Unlucky- Joel Selwood- see Buddha- just preferred Buddha's skills
Very unlucky- Sam Newman- ruckwork, or CHF- a gun player.
Awesome list Vdubs. I woulda put Hinkley in the back line though. Very Exciting player before he got taken out at KP.

Just came back to me Luke Darcy was one of them. It was he who was rubbishing Duncan- he is underdone, hasn't got the feel of the game and on and on til..... Oh yes that is a goal.
Just the start of the inane calling from him.
Certainly was. After Duncan came on he had a direct hand in our next 3 or 4 goals.
Totally turned the match back our way after he came on.
Then Darcy says he's struggling with the game.

Name one likeable quality about the guy.

I see more likeable traits in Clarko
For starters-
1. Excellent communication with media.
2. Players play for him. Results speak.
3. Well respected by all his peers.
4. Intelligent.
5. History of success as a player.
6. History of success as a coach.
7. Brian Cook rates him- that is a winner imho.

Hird wasn’t exactly a terrible coach if you take away the scandal rubbish, though. Miles ahead of Voss and Buckley.
Those 3 are all decent coaches.
Vossy deserves another go.
As does Hird.
Bucks has been given one.
CS is better than them all.

I'd rather James Hird

Plus he's just a terrific person! Always friendly. Calls me the mad CatLady from Sydney :hearts:

When Geelong played GWS at Spotless (or whatever it's now called) I asked him to have a photo with my friend's son, who was 9yo + he gathered all the players to have pix + sign autographs! My friend's son was over the moon!

Lmfaoooooo does CS really call you that

1/4 time of the 2007 Grand Final. I cried like a teenage girl at Justin Bieber concert
Got to get on the turps within Simon Black & Johnathon Brown at a Centre Sqaure function post game.
Still got the scotch and tear stained ticket in a frame in my study
You have a study? Fancy....

Its hard to narrow it down to one so I have a few in most chronological order...

Watching GAS live anytime from about 84-96 or so.
Watching GAS on TV anytime from about 84-96 or so.

89 GF

Watching the club turn that oil tanker around from 99 onwards.

When Rex let the fat lady rip in the 07 GF when Chappy kicked that 2nd 1/4 goal after the high tackle - i didnt want to believe it but could not help but get excited.

Watching the best team, perhaps of all time, go about it in the 08 season. Just sublime.

Rd 14 2009 - one of the best games ive seen - I know it was a loss but what a game.

09 GF

11 GF

And probably about 73% of the games in the CS era that have been wins.

Rd 19 2012.... all win against Hawks...

GO Catters

I think it goes without saying that winning premierships is the ultimate joy. It was (and is) for me, and although you could provide compelling reasons why each of 2009 and 2011 were magnificent and special in their own way, 2007 will never be surpassed.

Aside from that, I think when your team gets on a roll it's exhilarating to watch. In that respect the middle of 1989 would still probably be my favourite football 'patch', although 2007 and 2008 run it awfully close (1991 and 1992 had good streaks as well). For the 6 weeks following the loss to Hawthorn at Princes Park, this is what the team dished up:

- 35.18.228 vs St.Kilda. 119 point win. Then club record score. The three quarter time score (27.12) was I think a record until the Geelong v Richmond game in 2007.
- 26.23.179 vs Brisbane. 129 point win. I know I was there, have absolutely zero recollection of that game.
- 32.19.211 vs Richmond. 134 point win. Ablett's 14 goal masterclass.
- 23.18.156 vs Collingwood. 66 point win. Another Ablett masterclass with 'only' 7 goals.
- 12.17.89 vs Essendon. 54 point win. MCG mudfest part 1.
- 13.11.89 vs Melbourne. 69 point win. MCG mudfest part 2.

For those 6 weeks, our percentage was a mere 250.65. And the last three teams all finished in the finals too. I'm definitely biased by the fact Ablett senior was in career peak form, but for actual enjoyment of watching the game, that was pretty cool.

P.S. I have a study too. Favourite room in the house.

Have a few.

The game that I became a Cats fan. 1987 game in Sydney was there as part of a Primary school carnival, we drove 1200kms on a bus to play the carnival and our reward was sitting in the Doug Walters stand watching this game. The Dougie stand was looking straight into the sun so couldn't see much so moved down to a place that had a few spare seats, ended up being the area for the Geelong cheer squad.

The game against Brisbane in 2004 where we finally beat the bully side, remember in 2002 our young boys were beaten up by them with Joel Corey having his collarbone broken by a big Michael Voss bump. The 2004 game showed that we wouldn't be pushed around by them anymore and we were becoming a side to be noticed.

And obviously the GF's, the disbelief of 2007 that we had finally done it we had gotten over the hump. The relief of 2009 of getting reward for our dominance of the period and joy of 2011 that we jagged another
