Its not that easy to pick a 22 for us next year, but here's my attempt.

Callahan_________walker_________hendo
Patrenko_________lewis__________porps
Vince____________VB____________mckay
Ottens___________talia__________shaw
Reily____________rutton________crouch

jacobs_______danger_______thomo

Smith_______douglas_______sloane_____wright

Missed some players that I rate (brown, Martin, johncock)

It's not gonna be easy at the selection table I think.

Cool, but I think we have a no gun policy...

Apparently the crows lost Giles because they couldn't guarantee him a spot in the 22. I would be livid if I saw Jenkins or smack in the side with Jacobs.

Giles is a ruckman.

Jenkins and McKernan are forwards who can pinch hit in the ruck.

I like your team, but like Peter J said it needs someone to support Jacobs, otherwise he's going to run out of steam pretty quickly. At the moment I favour Jenkins but it's best to wait and see how the pre-season goes, if Johnston's a stand out then we may need to re-think our structure as he's not capable of rucking, way too short at 192cm.

BTW your spelling of our player's names needs a little work.;)

Callinan, Walker, Henderson
Petrenko, Jenkins, Porplyzia
Vince, Thompson, Smith
Reilly, Talia, Mackay
Crouch, Rutten, Otten

Jacobs, Dangerfield, Sloane
Wright, Douglas, Johncock, S: Could be any of a number

More or less the prelim final team. Don't expect to see too many changes bar the compulsory ones, and the injury return from Talia. They could also dump Petrenko, put Crouch forward, and slot Brown in for Doughty.

That last sentence is the change I would make. Pets last months were pretty ordinary. But rather than out him I wouldn't mind giving him a month in the back pocket.

Now this is the side:

Callinan, Walker, Porps
Petrenko, Jenkins, Sloane
Mackay, Van Berlo, Wright
Smith, Talia, Reilly
Shaw, Rutten, Jaensch

Jacobs, Thommo, Danger
Douglas, Johncock, Vince, Crouch

The bench, Sloand on half forward and centre line all rotate.

Just can't find room for Douglas.
Wait on Crouch I reckon to supply pressure from beneath and force his way in.

Not a bad side at all, but agree need ruck back up.
JJ or Smack will be lining up round 1 or maybe even Graham...its going to be a real fight for spots which hopefully means some good all round improvement.
The forward line is a bit short and slow. Porps and Tex would be my only two certs atm. Hendo would be better suited to a wing or HFF. If the penny has dropped for Johnston and he smashes it in the PS have him as high CHF, but we still need another tall in there I think. Pets and Nutta have the most to convince me. Pets was shocking in the finals and Callinan wasn't too far behind him, but did at least do a few things that led to scores. Think Vince could do a job in the forward line rotating into the middle.

Ah hell....its November how much can it change...

B: Riley Rutten Shaw
HB: Crouch Talia Smith
C: Mackay Danger Hendo
HF: Vince Jenkins VB
F: Porps Walker Callinan
R: Jacobs Sloane Thommo
I: Douglas Wright Johnston Johncock

You can argue semantics of where they play and you could swap Crouch onto the bench and slap Hendo or even VB into the backline. Stiffy would find himself in the vest more often than not imo or Otto as the sub gives you good flexibility as well..would like to have Jaensch, Otto, Junkyard in, but if they're good enough in the PS they'll get a go. Would like to see Jaenschy in Pets role on the HFF or small forward-not in the backline.

Done. Too early for this...but can't resist.

I reckon Jaensch will come in for Doughty. Very similar types. Could argue they would play Hendo instead. Don't know enough about Johnston to comment apart form his games for Sydney a few years ago where he was average.

Crouch will play a dozen games. Expect Luke brown and laird (if promoted) to share games too.

Unfortunately otten hasn't come back and will need an injury to talia, shaw, Rutten for him to get a game.

Jaensch can't defend so wing/fwd or nothing

Petrenko is a tagger that plays on the half forward flank. His job is purely to stop the running half back flankers of the comp, and does a walk up start. They started him as sub against Collingwood last year and Heath shaw had won the game for the pies by half time. Sanderson even admitted it was an error not to start petrenko!

Callinan kicked 40 goals last year. Enough said!
