What to do if you’re feeling unwell

If you are severely unwell, such as having difficulty breathing, call 000 (Triple Zero).

If you have travelled anywhere overseas in the past 14 days and have COVID-19 symptoms, seek testing at a COVID-19 clinic or contact your GP (advise your GP of your travel history) and isolate yourself.

If you have NOT travelled overseas recently, but are feeling unwell, visit your usual health care provider. Avoid contact with others if you are unwell.

I know you are all anxiously awaiting the briefing on the USA’s status as of today...so here you go:

we Already have an underclass. It’s only now that others have been foisted into it that you notice it exists at all. Prior to that you were blind to them. As long as it didn’t affect you, eh? This pandemic and the aftermath will have implications around the world, not just here. As for surgeries being put on hold... what the hell does that have to do with anything? LOTS of things have been put on hold. I was supposed to have a procedure next week.., I’m quite happy not to be going anywhere near hospitals at the moment.
You don't know anything about me and what I believe. Please don't make assumptions. Did you know that for instance mammographies have been put on hold. Many debilitating conditions are not being treated. There is a shortage of essential medications. These sort of things have to see taken into consideration and take you frustrations elsewhere.

So I was wrong about the date of Vader’s cruise.

I just had a quick look and he was critical about waiting for the 500 ban to commence until Monday and yet he was happy to go on the Cruise because he didn’t want to lose $3k. If you can’t identify the hypocrisy in that I can’t help you.

Irrespective of the PMs comments, Vader had already formed his own opinion on that advice and knew the risks. But hey you like Vader for some reason, continue to cut him slack.

As has been highlighted earlier and by other posters, its hard to criticize an individual when one makes financial decisions and coupled with the need to take leave and a myriad other of personal issues at play, until we are in their shoes and circumstances.

I actually did offer Vader a solution to not go on the cruise and get his money back. The solution was sound proof as it was going to work if he had taken that option. Ethically he had an issue with that, which he didnt want to cross and I respected his decision.

In terms of liking Vader and cutting him slack, I tend to like most posters on here and probably would have tried to advise/help them privately through a private message of alternative measures. I have also argued with Vader on here with his opinions, many a times.

If it was you that was going on the cruise, i would have also sent you PM at that particular time and convinced you of alternatives. :$

If Elite Crow is correct Kirky didn't vote, funnily enough.

But I could care less about some asinine 'blue team, red team' point. I care about a material analysis. People who claim that their primary interest is the material well being of the next generations whilst doing nothing of practical assistance in any real material sense for those generations are being disingenuous.

You mentioned, “vote and campaign”. Now we’ve got to do something on top of that, you’re asking a lot.

Americans looking at ways to open up again now that the worst is over. How the hell can they consider that when thousands are still catching it and dying?
[/QUOTE]
I guess a country that condones killer drone attacks on foreign countries they are not at war with probably sees things in a different way you and even I see them. For all the US good bits there’s a fair amount of hypocrisy goes on there and everywhere else at times.

Can't believe this cruise bullshit is still going on.

Yes he chose to go, and yes for someone so out spoken about things it was hypocritical, but ultimately it's the choice he played with and that's that.

How bored are people to be debating a random bloke's decision what seems like an eternity later.

I don't have a problem with them planning for the time when they're able to lift restrictions and get back to work. I have little doubt that the Australian Govt is working on a similar plan. The time will (eventually) come when they're in a position to lift their restrictions, and they will need to have a plan in place for when that day comes.

Having said that, I do worry that they will try to lift the restrictions before they have CV-19 fully under control, and will kick-start a 2nd wave of infections in the process. This seems very likely, given Trump's often repeated eagerness to get America back to work.

What I do have a problem with is the evidence of nepotism and incompetence, which is evidenced by the inclusion of the completely unqualified Ivanka & Kushner on the committee.

Where's his son Baron? Couldnt find a spot for him? Let me guess, most of these ppl work at either Goldman Sachs or JP Morgan. Cant see his mate Dr Fauci in this group or an equivalent medical expert. Anyone seen trumps 2020 election slogan. "Making America younger one day at a time."

Whatever happens regarding the lifting of restrictions internally, we should keep our borders closed, especially to developing countries like the US. How many of our infections were directly caused by US tourists?
The USA is Australia's largest source of infections, and it's daylight second. However, I have no idea how many of those were tourists and how many were returning residents.

Yeah can’t see our borders being open to the rest of the world until 2021, could be end of 2021 for places like the US.

Pretty sure it states in the terms and conditions of travel insurance that it doesn’t cover pandemics.

As with most things, you get what you pay for. Want to be covered for a yet unknown pandemic, policies are available. Expecting an insurer to cover something not paid for when their competitors are receiving money for that cover is typical insurance company bashing.

I guess that’s the problem with contracts, they have terms.
Don’t you think it’s a bit ridiculous to exclude pandemics from these contracts? This is effectively a once in a lifetime event that they’ve never had to worry about paying out on for a long time. It’s deliberately catching out most people who have booked these holidays with good intentions that their insurance would cover anything that could go wrong.

Ah well, I’m sure the heads of insurance agencies will enjoy their multi million dollar bonuses again this year.

Yeah, how dare people not pay a huge premium for travel insurance that doesn’t include cover for a pandemic none of us have seen in our lifetime!

It seems that testing kits are being developed with greater accuracy including faster results. Would it be possible to test anyone choosing to travel here in the future from selected transit hubs to be tested before boarding?

If they can have accurate tests that give results within 15 minutes it could be a possibility I guess.

“I am essential,” he said of remaining open, adding, “I’m a preacher — I talk to God!”

“I firmly believe that God is larger than this dreaded virus. You can quote me on that,” he said, repeating it a second time to claps, saying that “people are healed” in his church.

Now he can talk face to face

I’m no believer, but there’s something I like about those kinds of preachers with their enthusiasm for their faith and most likely living on the bones of their arse. Compare that to any of the 2 or 3 Catholic or C of E services that I was forced to attend before I got old enough to say I DGAF who’s wedding/christening it is, I’m not sitting through it.

I don't have any issue with them refusing to accept claims for policies purchased after CV-19 became a declared pandemic. That's absolutely fair. At that stage the pandemic is a known risk.

I do have an issue with them refusing to honour claims made on policies purchased before CV-19 first emerged. I booked my NZ cruise over 18 months ago, and purchased the travel insurance 12 months before the cruise (the travel insurance company's online system wouldn't take bookings on trips more than a year in advance). That policy turned out to be not worth the paper I used to print the "Certificate of Insurance".

Yes, they have a clause excluding pandemics. If they were acting in good faith, then they would only activate that clause for policies purchased after the pandemic was declared.

We have these arguments semi-regularly when there’s football seasons on and the world is whizzing away around us. How bored do you reckon we are?
