Not to be a Grinch-go, but l posted a while back that we're stuck where we are without increasing this year's draft capital via trading out a player. Can't move up or down.
Now that Ross signed the chances of alterations to our hand have all but disappeared till the trade window opens.

The most bestest thing out there IMHO is to get pick 19 from GC in the salary dump scenario, but l have no idea how we'd achieve that deal because of the above.

Myself, I'd be pushing hard for Batts to the GC along with #9 and a future 1st, taking Bing and #19.
Make a huge play for Darcy Moore next year and throw the kitchen sink at Hopper (RFA) in 2023.

Doubt we could get a contracted Ben king for a what is ultimately mid first rounder and battle + the swap of current and future firsts. On top of that then proceeding to get Moore and Hopper in on big contracts would be a huge ask of us and the salary cap. Just can’t see it happening. Still think the best play is what the club is doing, hit the draft, try and get King next year (our team can compete in finals for the meantime) and if that fails aim for Moore or another big fish/hit draft again.

That deal is probably better than we'll offer next year so GC would be smart to think about it, though l agree they won't.
They also have SC and list issues that could be assisted with this.

I honestly think GC are shooting themselves in the foot because of their siege mentality toward these few kids they're coveting.
They really ballsed up their 2018 draft strategy. Could have taken both Kings and 2 more 1st round mids but got sucked in to the hype. They also could have reamed us for Bings pick.
Picks 2, 3 & 6 all used on kids that very obviously didn't want to go there. ****n idiots!!!

So how does this work for Brisbane?
They'll get Ashcroft anyway so why on earth would they sell their first pick this year when they can sell their future 1st for points and do some bit trades next year. Makes no sense.

If Ashcroft is bid on at #1 as predicted & Bris finish top 6 they’ll still be 1000 points short.

Pick 1 is worth 3000 points.

Say Bris have pick 16, 34, 52, 70 then that totals 1894 pts.

So 1000 points short.

Throw in our 2nd & 3rd & its covered.

Makes plenty of sense, especially when we’re discussing options of how to get another 1st.

They'll get a 20% discount, so they'll have to stump up 2400 at most. He's touted as a top 5 pick, don't think he's a lock for #1.

Still, I agree Brisbane have more interest in banking points next season than using picks this season. Their list isn't lacking anywhere.

I think it would make more sense to keep a first this year and wait until next year to downgrade those 1st and 2nd rounders for points.

I wouldn't be giving up a first this year just for extra points

As noted above they'll get a %20 discount. I'd add to that, that I'm %100 positive that the Adelaide Crows will go down in history at the only administration stupid enough to place a bid at pick 1, and the highest Ashcroft would go is pick 2.
Pick 2 minus %20 is 2017 points, 121(#62) points shy of the mark.

Even so, if we take your example of a 1000 (#17) point deficit, it means that they'll trade us #15 which will actually be #17 on the night.
Losing that pick 17 in 2021, and converting in to consumable points that save them from losing pick 17 in 2023, thus crystallizing their potential losses at the maximum possibility.

If they do absolutely nothing, and assume Ashcroft goes at pick 2 or later, they keep #17 this year and drop from #16 to #19 (or 120 points) in 2023.

So not meaning to be an a-hole or anything. But what you're suggesting is the single worst thing they could possibly do. Essentially flushing a first round pick down the drain for no return.

And who were the ones that said we should chase Narkle LOL What a dumb kent

That was at VFL level too. It's one for the blooper reel. Can't even work out what the intention was.

Either could he , Can you imagine the guy getting it lace out onto his chest , he must have p1ssed himself

I didn't realise they were brothers

He played 2021 at Frankston, Freezer was hitting him up and he looked really strong presenting at the ball but he's just a little short for a KP and a bit heavy and immobile for a utility. He was playing some time in the ruck at Sandy but only hit a couple of ruck duels when I went to watch them. He's got a good jump but he's not that tall, looks shorter than Battle.

McPherson refusing to go to North might work in our favour there. It was going to be a salary cap clean up.

I reckon you are going to see it again this year. It benefits the bidding team to force a team like Collingwood to match at the earliest pick possible. It pushes every other one of the Pies picks back, thus pushing Norths picks forward.
Daicos has already signed on for 4 years to Collingwood, with the Pies openly guaranteeing that they will match any bid. Why not take their points.

No. Weather Daicos is bid on at 1 or 5, North's 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks will attain the same benefits.
They would not pass on the benefits of pick 1 for the sake of improving theit 4th round pick 72 by another 2 or 3 spots.

Does anyone know if we have eyes on Sam Butler , Dan’s younger brother? He did well at the country Combine .

Hope we manage to trade a future 2nd round pick for a late teens/early 20s (before academy kids) pick. Something like the Goldcoast's pick 19 that they won't use this year.

It is literally the reason given for Adelaide forcing the Bulldogs hand at pick 1 last year, to improve the other rounds picks. By forcing more points it pushes the pies picks back further, therefore bringing the Roos pick forward.
What else is lost by forcing their hand?
Being able to parade around a number 1 pick? All that extra pressure on the player for their entire career. Take the advantage they can get.

What's lost is $10,000 to the draftee and $500,000 worth of free publicly to the club.
Don't go giving Adelaide's executive too much credit. They're proven knuckle draggers.
