No way the Hawks are offering Dear less than 6-7 years in this climate. He's put together an excellent patch (now including a final), great contested mark and set shot, gets up the field well, not as much mongrel/physicality as Treacy but also 2/3 years younger so see him getting there. Gun KPFs don't grow on trees (even highly touted ones have shown less at 23/24), and don't appear at such a young age often; he'll get the extension. Going to be fun to watch (as long as the commentators don't ruin it for everyone).

We could offer him 1 or 15 years. It wont matter. That kid will never ever (ever) leave the Hawks by his choice. He is bound to us by both blood and tragedy. The club will always look after him, and he us.

Shannon Neale's doing better than outsiders would have expected this year, in his 6th-20th games of AFL.

For 2024:

Multiple goals in 8 of his 14 games.

Has scored a goal every game.

1.64 goals per game (Sam Darcy has gone at 1.81).

0.43 goal assists per game (Sam Darcy has gone at 0.29).

4.9 score involvements per game (Sam Darcy has gone at 5.7).

Of course Sam Darcy's output and ceiling is way higher, but the point is Neale's numbers have been sneakily good.

Yeah Neale is low-key doing the business for a young inexperienced KPF.

Thought his performance in his first final was very good - admittedly the opposition was weak, but 9 one-clunk marks and a couple of goals is a very solid contribution.

Probably begins doing that in the hoops instead 😉
Hopefully freo bring the boy home and he continues to do that in chevrons 😉
