Any change to the Bulldogs logo, as per a five year strategy, must include a change back to Footscray. The Western Bulldogs name just hasn't worked IMO. Tradition is important, EJ Whitten, and Charlie Sutton did not play in a premiership with Western Bulldogs. Footscray won in 1954, and Footscray is what the club should be.

Oh for being a real football club again. Proud of it's history, whatever it's failings.

But unfortunately, as mentioned previously.... thise raised on robodog won't hear of it.

Guarantee you one thing - if we die it will be as the Western Bulldogs NOT as the Footscray Bulldogs. The logo???

Anything that makes us look like a real football club proud of itself is fine by me, so yeah- happy with it ( as far as it goes)

You forget Footscray was such a terrible place. Collingwood of course has always been classy!!!!

Footscray has and always will be the gateway to the west of Melbourne. I for one am proud of Footscray's history, NO OTHER club in Victoria had to change its name to market to its target growth area, Western HAS NOT NOR NEVER WILL succeed, and when we have down times we need to have the clubs history, what it stands for and what it is as a base to fight back again

It really is up to us to keep the name and spirit alive. Smorgo wrote it off and it is unlikely to come back. Get it on flags and banners, by the club mercy with FFC on it, call us Footscray when you talk to people, post about us, call talkback etc. Our identity cannot simply be taken away from us, unless you let it.

I prefer the tradition standing bulldog logo for traditional and brand

If they want they want something modern for t-shirts fine but I would revert back to the old standing dog.

Anyone remember in the mid 80's the scanalan footy card bulldog emblem. Looked like a running dog standing with a snarling head. Great form kids I loved it growing up. Wish I could find it on the net to post.

Wouldn't be to surprised if we have an announcement on the new logo on saturday night at the Charlie Sutton Medal the logos grown on me a bit but being the design student I am I think it still needs some work

This was posted on the Graphic Design board tonight. Looks like you guys will be joining the trend in new logos.

It has been registered by the AFL with IP Australia and can be found through ATMOSS.

Looks sensational, better than the current rubbish.

Now can the name be changed back to Footscray? TIA

I hate it. Already looks outdated. Doesn't look professional at all. The font looks like Ariel taken straight from Microsoft Word. The 2D Dog with no hind legs. The Cricket Australia sloped shield. 3/10.

Wished they would just redraw this.

Make it more modern and neater and I'll be happy. I wouldn't mind if they gave us a few options so the members can have a vote on it. Along the same lines as the change back to the hooped jumper idea. Everybody could agree that was a huge success.

I have four assignments to get done by Monday.
So, naturally, I decided to play around on photoshop and do a logo for us.

I'm not a graphic designer by any stretch of the imagination so it's not the greatest and I mainly did it for my own enjoyment. Still think it looks okay though, except for the text. :p
Used the Canterbury Bulldog because it's badass and I can't draw worth shit.

I like the new logo. A little bit better than Robodog and a whole heap better than Meek Dog.

Like the way it is well balanced with the tear 'em to shreds bit right in the middle. Has all the important aspects shown well.

Its good.

Other than the ridiculous robo dog, I don't mind most of the others.

The bulldog is our moniker and mascot, we can have several versions for different generations of marketing. It is not at the core of what our club stands for

Indeed. We don't even have to be Bulldogs in my mind. Although given the way our name has been treated in recent years, it'd be a shame to cast away the moniker as well.

Bulldog Tenacity.

In fact, the club could push a few nicknames from our past:

Bone Mill Fellows,
Men From The Land Of Boulders,
Tricolours,
Saltwater Lads (my favourite)

I'm not a fan of the 'leaked' logo either so decided to have a crack at an update of our traditional logo.
It's very much a work in progress & I'm undecided on the best composition (ie. shield, freestanding etc.)
but in light of the current discussion I thought I would throw it out and try to get some feed back. bulldogs logo 8 flat.jpg Like I said, it needs a lot of tidying up but I would appreciate any suggestions on the configuration, colour, line weights, anything really. Cheers.

I love it!

Apart from the "scince" :)P) the text is awesome, much better than the dribble in the one posted in this thread.

The bulldog is cool but in my opinion doesn't look great with faded black + thick blue outline. Maybe lower the line weight and mess around with the stroke colour of the bulldog?

Overall, top work, I really like it. :D
