They say - Jarrod king to miss 12 months with foot injury

Disapointing news for Jarrod and North if true. Good bloke Jarrod and always great to watch. Might venture down to have a look at the dogs and bears tomorrow. Any new players to watch?

Hurstbridge vs Fitzroy All Stars Chalk up another win to the much improved Stars over the Bridges.
Epping vs South Morang The Blues are really looking like standout premiership favourites and won't give the Lions a sniff.
Lalor vs Diamond Creek The Bloods season is on the line here and won't receive any sympathy from the Demons.
Thomastown vs North Heidelberg While competative, can't see the Bears upending the Bulldogs in this one.

Thought SM kept up to epping 3 out 4 quarters, Epping too strong, had a couple of oscar winners in their group, umpire seemed to favour their side, but well done epping, it will be very interesting stars v epping.

not sure about oscar winners.... south had there fair share of frees also..... all in all a good contest. south fought pretty gallantly and im sure will get a scalp or two throughout the year...
epping will be looking to be getttin a few important players back in the side and really start to build some momentum over the next few weeks.

also caught a glimpse at whitnall giving santoro a few cheap ones to the noggin... im tipping alot of teams will use this tactic through the season... will be interesting to see it on video, might be a little to far off the play to see though...
go pingers.

They Say - South Morang are getting a little ahead of themselves and called to have a wager on the Epping game (*)
They Say - Stude is willing to upset his self reported tipping record to spite
They Say - (*) means this was provided by a PM Big Footy sleuth who will remain anonymous

I heard about the wager last Tuesday but there was no money offered.
I've still got my pockets filled with Lalors cash from last year :)

]Never witnessed whitnall use that sort of tactic at all, but did witness one of epping players do a couple of undercuts to one of SM players in 3rd quarter under the pack near the crowd, appears that sort of tactic goes on regardless, as well as by deliberately ducking the head to get the free.

Hurstbridge v Lalor, Bloods will be happy to get a win on the board by 4 goals.
Stars will continue on their merry way with a 10 goal win over Thomo.
South Morang at home to Creek should be a cracker, Diamo by a couple in the end
Doggies host Epping in the match of the round, can't wait for this one, a goal either way would not surprise me , Epping just
Good Luck to ya

Hurstbridge vs Lalor - Who would have though pre-season that both would have been winless at this stage of the season. Expect the Bloods to get the points over the 'Bridges in a must-win if they want to keep up with the leaders..
Thomastown vs Fitzroy All Stars - The Stars have met every challenge so far and can't see the Bears being too much trouble for them in this one.
South Morang vs Diamond Creek - A tricky one for the Demons as the Lions play their home turf well, but in the end the visitors should walk away with the points.
North Heidelberg vs Epping - Game of the Round as the Doggies look to stop the premiership favourites. The Blues have done nothing wrong so far and should be able to win this one.

They Say - Epping may be fav's at the moment but booom recruit for the doggies in the wings.

Massive thanks to all the guys forwarding through the scores and updates throughout the day - Over 70 score updates through the day from right around the comp.

For this to grow we need a few more followers, so spread the word, its what was talked about and now its up and running - If we as supporters want the NFL to continue to develop new levels of communication then the things that are in place at the moment need some creditably.

My post made on January 11 in the Offseason forum.

"A delay in works on the Fitzroy Stars' new home ground, Sir Douglas Nicholls Oval, means the ground will not be available until June and the Stars have successfully requested to play their opening seven matches of 2012 away from home.

It means that six matches from the previously-released fixture have been switched, with North Heidelberg to now host the Stars in Round 2, and Lalor and Diamond Creek now playing home matches against Fitzroy in rounds 3 and 7 respectively.

Conversely, Fitzroy will now play home games in rounds 9, 10 and 14, when it had previously been drawn away from home."
- NFL

7 away games could be a difficult way to start the season, but if the Stars are in a good position after the 7 rounds they should have a good shot at making the top 4 with 9 home games from the final 11 rounds.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Never would have thought the STARS to be undefeated at this stage, but a great effort, the big challenges still to come in the next 2 rounds against Epping and Diamond Creek. The STARS first (seniors) finals appearance in the NFL will be massive for the club! Making the finals in 2012 will give the boys a major boost for 2013, and if the club can recruit strong again, could be a big chance to take it out next year. Great start by the STARS, hopefully this will continue for the rest of the season, taking their opponents away from their home grounds. Unfortunately I've heard the STARS home ground won't be ready till next season, and an interim ground has been found, with a few games still to be played at Victoria Park.

Keep up the good work STARS!

I hear on the rumour mill that the lad's from the kennel will have Shane Harvey back as quickly as next week , would be a huge inclusion for north as he was the best player in division 1 footy ...let alone divison 2 ,my tip he might brake the magical ton in only 14 games

Have to agree barmy,if it's true not only will he kick a ton but it just might elevate the doggies to premiership favorites

I see Shane Harveys clearance has been approved to North Heidelberg, does anyone know if he is available for the big clash this week with Creek?

Ok if Harvey plays North win, if he dosent Creek win.
Epping v Stars is going to be a lot closer than most think, Epping by a kick
Thomo should be able to send Bridges to D3 with a win
South Morang at home by a couple.
Good luck & Go Pingers

They Say - Shane Harvey is playing and will kick 15 with the space at the demons - North will win easy (*)
They Say - The Stars will upset Stude and his boys (Its just what they say stude)
They Say - Hurstbridge have too many injuries (*) to really push the bears
They Say - Lalor just got home with Shepherd kicking 6 in the last quarter last week (*)
They Say - Repeat - Hurstbridge have too many injuries - this was the case last week - what has happened at Lalor
They Say - South Morang have a new Manning at the den and that won't be the only celebration on Saturday (*)
They Say - What they say.

(*) Information is PM

Diamond Creek vs North Heidelberg. The Doggies certainly look a more imposing outfit with their new recruit, but think the Demons can handle them.
Epping vs Fitzroy All Stars. Top of the table clash for outright premiership favouritism. Think the experience and home ground advantage of the Blues may just get them across the line.
Thomastown vs Hurstbridge. A relegation battle which naturally both teams won't want to lose. Think the Bears are playing a bit better at the moment and should beat the Bridges.
South Morang vs Lalor. The Bloods registered their first win last week and can and will add to that against the Lions here.

Was at the DC v NH game, very interesting game, unfortunately due to Creek's injuries, the young legs just couldn't run out the game on the big ground.

Harvey fitted in very well, but North won it at clearances, smashed them in the second quarter 17-6.

Lalor too good for the lions in the last quarter and a half,
Also heard on the grapevine that the Lalor president was refused service at the bar and asked to leave due to having a little too much to drink , disrespecting the South Morang FC with bad language and calling them a S--- F----- club several times. some Lalor supporters also chose to bring thier own eskys ??? poor form i says

Spot on, on both accounts. Lalor ran the game out alot better than us from the 10 minute mark of the 3rd qtr. The Lalor president was a disgrace, he was on the cans all day then became very abusive in the social rooms after the game. Several Lalor supporters were not happy with his behaviour. Not a good look for the club.
