NFNL Div 1 2025

Great to see the NFNL unable to post transfers out of the league to other clubs... We are only see arrivals at NFNL clubs
I believe they have had a big turnover in staff recently so maybe some priorities are being looked at first? ie: They have the draw out so clubs can plan for things in 2025 NOW......VAFA Draw will be out in late Feb. So, different H/O's might be focusing on different things?

How long could it possibly take to export spread sheet

How long could it possibly take to export spread sheet
Could take a little while IF the person who does it is no longer working at H/O?

I'd much rather have our fixture out and start planning my mid-season trip to Bali than knowing that Billy Blogs is transferring to such and such!!

*no disrespect intended to player B. Blogs or the Such and Such Football Netball Club

What they have off the field at the Bergs is as impressive as what they do on the field. Its a business down there and the connections to VFL clubs and players dosent happen by accident - Well played.
There are other clubs in different leagues set up just as well and the $$$ come in to clubs when the businesses involved see a significant mutual benefit to be involved.
This might upset a few players, the NFNL has changed the rules concerning VFL listed Players, they are not permitted to play in any Reserves Finals.
VFL Players in Reserves Finals
New
12.1.7
Senior Men
Any VFL listed player in that competition year is not permitted to play in NFNL Reserves Finals, even if the club fields multiple teams on the same finals weekend.
This addresses concerns about VFL-listed players in Reserves finals, ensuring fairness and protecting the integrity of the Reserves finals series.

Any changes with number of games to qualify?

Common sense, great work NFNL.

Are you arguing a points issues or not D1 standard?
People were discussing if the 2 players in question would get a game for h-berg, but I think that question runs deeper than pure ability when you're talking about a team that runs close to points limit already.

If you carry points you need to be as good or better than current players with equivalent points if you want to break into the side - same at any club near points limit.

Not really they were discussing if Coburg would beat Heidelberg. Claiming 2 players wouldn’t get a game there because of points is irrelevant to the argument. Would they get a game as 1 pointers? Yes.

This chain of discussion is a follow on/side topic to Heidelberg vs Coburg.

There was a comment that some Coburg players would not get a game at Heidelberg, which other posters wrote off as ridiculous. So there was discussion around 2 particular sth morang/coburg players and whether or not they would get a game at Heidelberg

My point is it's not a ridiculous comment to suggest they may not get a game, as with the points system it's not as simple as are they better than the 22nd best player at Heidelberg - they need to be better than the players who would be equivalent points. I don't have enough knowledge of the 2 players, or Heidelberg's list, to have an opinion on if they would or would not.

Is this the same as last year? or is the change in the Reserve games helping qualify a player to play finals?
Not sure, I only noticed when I was checking the no of games needing to qualify. It didn’t show up as an amendment.
One of the other changes was Women’s Football where it will be 16 on field instead of 18.

Any VFL listed player in that competition year must play three (3) Senior (1sts) gamesto qualify for Senior finals. NFNL Reserves/Under 19.5 games do not count towardstheir finals eligibility.

Remains the same for 2025
I would assume the VFL listed players at the Bergs will be happy there is no increase, but maybe a few of those on the fringe/unders coming up maybe not as overjoyed?

Maybe the schoolteacher could let us know as he still drops in from time to time 😎

Doesn’t look like it’s bothered the 2s players for the last few years, as they keep the majority of list every year.

Has more time as he’s no longer

If nothing else it means genuine 2's player won't lose his spot to a VFL listed bloke who has played 3 senior games throughout the year.

3 still seems really low for qualification to play in a grade below where you regularly play if you're looking at VFL guys playing NFNL finals, but this has been discussed plenty before.

Fair point NB that the genuine twos guys get some protection of sorts - had not thought of that.

Makes it very interesting for fringe players though OR the conversations you have with VFL listed guys re finals IF your club makes it.

Example: imagine IF the VFL guys that did not make the best Bergs side last year for the GF did not get a game at all rather than be dropped to the twos GF side?
or
Would it push out another fringe player from the seniors who was not VFL listed but petty much like for like, so both could play on the day IF both teams in the GF with the VFL player in the Seniors and the fringe in the Twos?

Anyway, all just chatter and what a position for a club like the Bergs to be in to have to even consider - amazing really and hats off to them. I think we are only 25 years off that :)

it's not a bad problem to have! I think every club in Melbourne would love their biggest issue to be how to fit all their guns into one side, it's incredibly impressive they've kept most of their list and added to it.

You'd hope the senior team is picked on merit (and within points cap), and if a non-VFL guy is the better option he plays 1's, and if that means VFL guy misses out, so be it - but it' is local footy after all, stranger things have happened, and we all love hearing about a grand-final Thursday blow up at selection!!!
