Player Watch Nick Daicos - Can he be the GOAT?

This is complete and utter garbage, he is a 78kg 180cm player. 10 to 20kg and a few inches smaller than the a lot of the players he is playing on. If he goes in hard he will only get hurt but he does try, The tackles are just not going to stick which is what he is going to get burnt for. Fact is he is playing the right way for a player his size, just get the ball and evade.
He had a bad game like no other player has ever had bad games before. He still had more pressure acts than 20 of our other players on Thursday night.

he has won more contested balls than any other Pies player this season lol

i dont think there is anything wrong with the way he plays. i mean he was our best player all season in his 2nd year in a premiership season and we dont win without him so there is that

he has also been in the system 3 more years. but go look at the stats, his possessions on the weekend were mostly uncontested

You forgot to mention that the bottom 2 team were taken over by a coach who took the list from GF contender to nowhere, then back to a GF choke before nowhere again and was replaced at the same time Naicos arrived.
But its all Daicos and nothing to do with Buckleys incompetence or Mcrae apparently.

Ability, toughness, two way running, hand and foot and marking skills, physical at the contest and imposing yourself when needed regardless of the opposition, tackling, vision, reading the play/anticipation, positioning and inspiring/involving others make a GOAT

Nick has most of these abilities - in time we'll see how he progresses - but Pies have a diamond for sure.

I think he certainly could be the GOAT at some point. However can he genuinely get better? That’s not a dig as he was on track to romp in the Brownlow last season before injury. If he has that season every year he’ll take home a few Brownlow medals.
He’s not your drag a team over the line type by ripping clearances out of the middle. And he wins his contested possessions a little differently to the likes of Trac Bont and Cripps etc. interesting watch on how he ends up.

I should add to this I don’t necessarily think he’ll be the GOAT. There will always be recency bias. And to me the GOAT would be someone who drags the team with them. Think Ablett snr, Carey etc. Not sure Daicos has that in him.

Daicos is obviously an elite outside type player. Can a player who is a specialist at this type of role be someone who is in a GOAT discussion?? I honestly think yes. If you reach a level unseen before at your own game style then why not?? I don’t think it is only reserved for inside mids

I assume this little animated image is a digging reference at daicos outside style of play (btw nice witty image).

I have seen a lot of this sort of criticism that he is soft or doesn’t win contested ball. My question is, what is wrong with being an outside elite specialist?? It can be a very important role that can be performed to an exceptional standard and contribute greatly.

I don’t really get why it is bashed so much. He is incredibly effective and damaging in this quarter back role.
