Yes it is because every year they change how they vote so you can’t compare era’s. Forwards & Rucks use to win them too but now it is a pure midfielders award.

The Bont couldn’t even get votes since he spent too much time forward while Nick managed to get votes with 15 touches and subbed out with an injury.

The Brownlow is a terrible measure of a players worth. He can’t be the goat anyway, has a few glaring weaknesses that would never be attached to such a mantle. Goat Pies player is fine if you guys want to call him that.
The weaknesses are why he's a definite chance of becoming the GOAT, as he's still got a fiar bit of improvement to come. At 21, many already consider him the best player in the game and he should develop and get a fair bit better.

In the same period, Cripps has averaged more votes per game than your boy. 96 votes in past 3 seasons to be exact.
Cripps is a star - probably the only likable thing about the Blues. And after 10 years of development and progress, Cripps has hit his peak and has got to the point where he's arguably as good as everyone's favourite 21 year old, who still has 10 years of development and progress to come

So he’s going to improve from the worst contested mark in the league to only bottom 20%?

Good point. That's a real worry for his clearance and running game. Nick probably competes for 1 a fortnight or maybe even just one a month - he's got to start clunking them. It's similar to how Plugger was pretty average due to his unwillingness to win clearances.

This is the goat discussion though, how can the goat be the equal worst in the league at anything? Not just bad, the worst.

God this is cringe, the bloke hasn't died.

Seriously cannot understand the carry on, the kid will probably be the first player to win 4 Brownlows, but we're all supposed to be wiping away tears because he lost his 2nd close one before he's even flipping 22 years old.

Reid will get suspended every year, multiple times

He's absolutely nuts out there, wants to KILL people

When's this generational Walker starting? Will he be as successful as his old man, with a bulging trophy cabinet?

Walker would've been a star at any other club - had ridiculous talent, reckon we ruined him a bit.

Threw him around every year & never let him get settled. Was thrown fwd in 2011 and kicked 56 goals.. 56 as a medium fwd!! Then from memory battled injuries in 2012, Ratten sacked, Malthouse comes in and ruins everyone.

Hopefully his kid has similar talent but better luck.

You missed my point of course ... Plugger wasn't the worst in the league at winning clearances, but he didn't win clearances because he played a role ahead of the ball that very rarely had him in position to win clearances - he was too good ahead of the ball to be used as a clearance bull - which he probably would have been.

Nick is the best ground ball player in the league, why would he be trying to take contested marks - except in very select circumstances? Staying down to rove doesn't make you the worst contested marking player in the league. It's a ridiculous suggestion - do you think the bloke with hands so clean that only Lachie Neale compares can't catch?

Oh, Binary.

Where amassing 38 votes in the Brownlow Medal but not winning it is considered a lesser year than someone who polls 21 votes in the Brownlow to win it...
Well does being the GOAT mean you must win at least one of them? Someone earlier said a combined 7 of Brownlow/ NS is the GOAT criteria.
Averaging 1.18 Brownlow votes per game throughout his career - more than 10% better than the second best player in the history of the game - let's start there...
Ok well start there. So he has 10% more Chas votes than anyone but no Chas - what else?

I think it's realistic, but it'll come down to injuries. I think Judd would have gone close to that if he didn't get OP or they knew how to manage it better in his day.

He seems durable. Naturally knows how to evade collisions and isn’t bash & crash. Can see him having a long and healthy career.

If pies drop off and he carries them (moreso) then it could change a bit.

Really?

Two players are universally recognised as the GOATs - Leigh Matthews and Gary Ablett Senior.

Between them they have a grand total of ONE Brownlow/Norm Smith...
Well it’s not my criteria, it came from Corn Cobbers and I agreed that anyone who met that criteria would definitely be heralded as the greatest. You would need at least one of them to even be in the discussion right?

Remember that time he wore a hat to training?

Hopefully his son can replicate such lofty heights.
