Linked to Daniher too, although they obviously wouldn't be getting both Cameron and Daniher.
I heard daniher is their plan b if they don't get Cameron and honey is plan b if they don't get crouch. Higgins I believe will be at the cats on a 2 year deal.

All Cats players to be on 100k per year as from 2021?

Good move though. No point finishing 8-14 every year. Clear the decks!

I agree, constantly patting themselves on the back because they haven’t finished last, and picking up mid table picks smacks of mediocrity. Some of their drafting has been so poor.

I read this morning that Brown turned down an offer of 3 years at $750k from the Roos prior to this season starting. Obviously thinking he’d be worth more with interest elsewhere.

What an absolute balls up by him and or his managment. He’s probably kissed half a mil goodbye by being so greedy and stupid.

That's a bit sad in retrospect.
It's a good example of the complex dynamic between high expectations, performance anxiety and the whipping boy phenomenon. Possibly laced with a bit of schadenfreude.

If Watts had been taken at almost any other pick people would think he'd had a moderately successful (if unremarkable) career. It would probably have been a happier career. It might even be the case that he'd have had a more productive career if we was away from the spotlight that comes with being a number one pick.

It makes me worry for JUH attracting a bid at #1, as much for this phenomenon as for the points hit that we'd take.

He's much better than McCartin. Oh dear.

And can you imagine what Josh Schache's life would be like now if he'd been taken one pick higher in his draft year?

Tom Boyd's situation was a bit more complex but there is little doubt that some of what made footy unenjoyable for him was the pressure of being drafted #1.

Everyone is different. Watts always gave the impression that he just didn’t want it enough regardless of whether he’d gone 1,2 or 10. Professional sport is tough and isn’t for everyone regardless of talent.

One thing that didn’t help Watts. He was completely let down by Melbourne. Was paraded out in his first ever game on the Queens birthday as the clubs savour. And put at full forward in one of the worst Melbourne teams of that era. And was beaten from pillar to post by Collingwood players all game. And he honestly never recovered from it. He was given no support in that team at all and from the first ever game he played he was under intense scrutiny.
