I can’t see him going there honestly. I think it will be GWS or stay in Victoria. I don’t know how Poort would be able to pay him what he wants for one, and also have the capacity to resource the football department etc to his liking.
I dont think Clarko will go to North either, basket case that will take a long time to rebuild.

I think he could afford another 12months out and wait for another offer easily from any number of Clubs.

In relation to Ken, ideally for him if he gets sacked before GWS and North announce a new coach, he gets the payout and gets to be coach at one of these Clubs.

Ironically it would make Ken the biggest paid coach in 2023, Port payout and new contract at a new Club.

I reckon sacking Hinkley might backfire on them in the short term. The players actually like him and play for him. Port fans think Kern is the only thing standing between them and a premiership. The truth is their list just isn't that great.
I agree, Hinkley is not as bad as we think and some Port people make him seem. He is a good motivator and player manager. Two important skills of any afl coach. If they get someone else there is a strong liklihood that it will be an assistant that has no proven track record that might take a while like Nicks.
Alternatively if Ken went to GWS they have a list that is of huge potential to win a premiership if they got everything right. If he had some good paid assistants around him, managed the players well and motivated them I could see him being very successful short term.

You can be a good Coach, an excellent Coach .....but after 10 years of no success, it's generally a good idea for the parties to move on

Ken to NORTH :whitecheck:

Ross Lyon to PORT :whitecheck: .....Lyon strikes me as a Port type Coach

I dont think Lyon will want to leave Victoria, apparently very well settled there.

Ken wont be coaching next year imo. I think he will be a senior assistant and then look to get back in.

I am not sure Ross will get back into the game either. Ross isn't a rebuild coach which leaves him out of both jobs and I can see a Roos / Goodwin style parachute job from Melbourne at the Kangaroos with Clarkson and a current high profile assistant. I can see Port targeting an assistant from somewhere.

Its not Hinkley is a bad coach, its they have had him for 10 years and they haven't succeeded. I'd understand if they only had Hinkley for 4 years but after 10 they are only opening themselves up for more of the same.

Despite many thinking Port need a mini rebuild .....I'm of a differing opinion, in that Port are still very much in Finals contention with this list plus a couple of additions

They won't want to lose Bergman though

Koch isn't moving Ken on to get an assistant Coach upgrade .....he'll only move Ken on for a very experienced Coach ....bookmark this

The Issue is, Lyon only proved to achieve the same sort of success as Ken. It would be like for like. The only upgrades would be Clarkson, Hardwick and Scott. Below them you have Roos and Longmire. Ross is below them again.

The biggest mistake a club can make is to not see the writing on the wall. With so many players hitting 30 or over 30, they need someone with fresh eyes to clear the decks and look to rebuild. Can't go into next season with 6 over 30s. Then you have Aliir, Mayes, Clurey and Wines all beginning to edge close to the 30 mark. They have injury prone Fantasia as well. There is a lot of holes in the side to fill. I just think this is a 5 year turn around. Personally, I hope they search for the missing piece again. JHF is the one I think they will throw a godfather offer at in a desperate attempt to set themselves up long term past Boak and Wines.

Caro on footy class rekons kern is on a no cut contract, so if he leaves he gets paid out in full.

Also said if he leaves clarko would have a sniff around the vacant pear position
Purple's clacker would be going a million miles an hour at that comment. He's desperate to convince everyone that Clarko to Norf is a lock.
Even Clarko may be start wondering if it's a thing.

Port are a 6-12 team depending on injuries and draw. They have proved repeatedly they just aren't up to beating the top sides, and usually beat up on weaker teams.

Port look to be sniffing around ben mckay from north. He would be a big get for them as he can play and would solve an achilles heel of theirs..no quality key position defender
Maybe they shouldn't have traded their berst KPD out a couple of years ago - Dougal Howard. Or actually play Aliir as a KPD, the guy is a great 1-on-1 defender.

No idea why North made him a defender, a KPF is far more valuable than a KPD. His brother got a Coleman ffs, just dumb list management by North.

They saw him kick and decided there wasn't any point in him having shots for goal maybe
